The Smile's album drops in 3 days! (Thom Yorke's new band). Every track they've released from it so far has been great or amazing. Really can't wait for the full length.

The Locust - Live
I've been listening to precious little else since Gabe Serbian's death was announced. He was just a *fantastic* drummer - you don't get plaudits from the likes of Brian Chippendale and Dave Lombardo without being pretty bloody impressive, after all.
He was also an impressive guitarist/vocalist before he switched to the drums:

I was at a bar last night and they were playing this. Shit brings me back to the beginning of high school.

The Smile - A Light For Attracting Attention
It's a bit good. That riff on Thin Thing makes me wish I still had my guitar, though it would take a bit of figuring out.

Fuck, I miss the Pumpkins. Last time I saw them live was on the Oceania tour in Brixton O2. I was fortunate, in that it was one of the times when Jimmy Chamberlin was in rather than out. Phenomenal drummer.
One of my favourite perfomances of them doing Ava Adore was on Jools Holland in '98.
EDIT:
I just watched their performance of "Today" on the Late Show, and fuck me, James Iha aging looks like James Hong getting Benjamin Button syndrome.

Was a big fan of the pumpkins, but then Billy Corgan seemed to go a bit nuts for a while, which kinda put me off. Hopefully he's chilled out a bit now.

When was that originally released? I remember wanting it back in the 00s alongside that Alice In Chains box set.

When was that originally released? I remember wanting it back in the 00s alongside that Alice In Chains box set. The original came out in 96, a year after Mellon Collie. There was a reissue in 2013 with a shedload of live tracks added on, and a bonus DVD.
I got my box from eBay in the early 2000s. The handles weren't quite as yellowed then.

They should play this Wannadies song on the radio instead of the other one all the time.

The new Cave In came out today but the news of Grandmaster Gareth’s death has really caught me and I’ve listened to nothing but Misty’s all day. Such a great and underappreciated band.

Just listening to Bowies last album again. It's amazing.
Even removed from his death days after the album release, it's a pretty damn good album.
I originally bought this album the day it released, I think on a Friday. By Sunday, Monday he was dead. I actually recall walking to work after he died. I wasn't devastated as such, but definitely felt a bid of sadness.
And then looking back on this album after his death, there's something amazing in the fact that Bowie explicitly *knew* he was dying. The album is full of subtext's about him dying. The dude literally made his death part of his art.
The context takes this album from a solid 8 to a definite 10.
(I am pretty pissed, but I'll stand by my personal judgment sober).
