Yeah, I use Now sports. The quality is crap (even with the £5 boost,l but can usually get a 12 month deal for £20 a month and I share a sub with a mate which makes it affordable.

Cheers Dougs - I expected as much with the quality but not a lot of options. As long as the stream actually starts I guess I'll take it. Thanks!

What fucks me off a lot with NoW TV is it's anal and absolutely shit detection of multiple streams.
I start watching a game on my ipad while cooking in the kitchen, I then turn off the stream on the ipad to move to the TV and it just keeps giving a multiple stream error for nearly 15 minutes after I've turned off the ipad stream.
I'm not paying for boost just so I can get around their shitty software.

Just gone full circle and gone from cord cutting to cord placing. Does anyone know if a satellite coax cable extender will work in extending the virgin cable?
My tv is quite the distance from the virgin outlet, but I have a really long cable that sky gave me.

Call them, they might come out and extend it. When I had virgin, they installed it and left like two feet of coax to the router which made it basically useless. I called to complain and the twats came back and sarcastically left enough cable for me to have my router in a different postcode.

They just said they send a really long cable but they don't know how long 🙄. Call back if it's not enough.
Great customer service. Twats.

The virgin media install that was done before I moved in comes up the front garden, then up 3 floors, over the roof, down the other side to a splitter box at ground level, one of which goes back up to the first floor then in the wall and under the floor to a room at the front of the house.
your long coax cable will be fine

Cord cut again, Virgin do a streaming service. That's what I now have. Only getting sky sports. All cause the wife can't stand cables.

We lose virgin TV on the 6th April. Our TV is an old 1080p screen, doesn't have a HD tuner and isn't smart so in the mean time until I upgrade the gaming TV to an OLED I purchased a BT Pro 4K box from CEX of all places for £72 as I had some credit to use.
Works amazingly well. The wife can record stuff and has the option to stream although we do have a Chromecast knocking about.
Still with VM for the broadband until it becomes more than I'm willing to pay.

Avoided the £7 VM monthly increase by just ringing up. Now still paying £29 a month for Phone/Broadband M125 fibre.

Does anyone have a Virgin V6 box and have any issues playing back content purchased through Google Play (TV) on YouTube? Started happening to me recently and I'm trying to work out if it's me or them.

I had an old one and thought I’d take it with me to stream stuff for a hotel stay, but it turned out it had been rendered obsolete at some point without me knowing. Not sure if firesticks go the same way.

Interesting. Ours is absolutely fine it's been left plugged into the TV and the BT box is working well since the disconnect from VM.

I've got a relatively early Chromecast in the kitchen. Only issue I've had is Nowtv making it obsolete. For no real reason other than they are shits

It might be me being entirely backwards tech wise. But mine was unworkable at a hotel stay.

Might have been a connection issue if the WiFi needed authentication or whatever.

Aye, hotels are a different story altogether. Most of their networks need authentication via a landing page, which won't work well with something like a Chromecast.

Firesticks just seem to get slower and slower as Amazon continues to make their UI heavier and heavier.
AFAIK my old one still works, but it's so painful to use that I just don't bother.
Not that the UI has actually improved in any way.

The mitigation is that they are reduced to like 20 quid two or three times a year so its not a big hassle to upgrade every now and again (if you forgive the disgraceful e-waste issue).
But, yeah, the one in the bedroom is creaking and I remember when I bought that shiny new 4K version to replace its barely functional forebear.

Looks like we are ditching Sky after more than a decade.
We've had Signature, Netflix and Sport with them (all UHD), and were paying £45 a month, up from £40 at the start of the term (so >10% inflation already). Gave cancellation notice as per usual expecting a bunch of offers, but actually only got one letter and one text from them. Have spoken with them twice. The first time they offered £52 just to keep things the same, then today (24hrs before cancellation) £57!
It seems that the days of haggling are largely gone, and all that is left are some pretty unjustifiable price hikes. From reading various forums it sounds like my recent experience is typical. Think they might well be taking a big hit on subscriber numbers soon. I'm honestly kind of amazed that they've gone in this direction, as surely their cost base stays the same given people like me already have all the gear so a subscriber paying something is better than none.
Anyway, it is what it is. Would go back for the same deal should they ever offer it again.

The cost base staying the same and them increasing the prices means they can put up with a certain amount of cancellations.
Their cost isn't staying the same though, their network again runs on power and people both of which are going up in cost.

Yeah sure, I get that in reality, their costs haven't flatlined over the past 24 months. However, my point is they have already accounted for RPI-linked inflation via mandatory in-contract price increases for existing subscribers.
Just seems like there has been a marked change in their approach to renewals over the past 12 months. I guess we'll see what the impact is when they release their next accounts.

I’m n complete contrast to your experience, Sky contacted us and said that they’d be holding our current deal for another 12 months. Happy enough to continue as it’s a deal I went through the whole threat to leave a couple of years ago.

Sky have offered me broadband superfast and sportsHD for 63 pounds.
Just wondering if to grab that and/or move to now tv. The broadband sports package with them would be 52?

Sky won't play ball after being with them for six years - can't even get a New Customer deal which is all I want.
Virgin came into our area a few months ago so at least I have an alternative now but trying to navigate their website for TV/Broadband deals is a nightmare.
I'm also wary of any potential drilling and long cables as our TV is in an awkward place in the middle of the room.
Any recommendations for a decent Freesat/Freeview HD box? Tempted to bin the TV package off completely as we don't watch it much anyway and just go for the internet.

How old is your TV? Even my old thing can do Freeview and recording. You might only need to plug a HDD and an internet connection into it.

It's old, around 17 years - a Panasonic Viera 42PX60 Plasma. Doesn't have Freeview built in - it's that old.
