I was pointing out that there's plenty of stuff between Switch and HalolCodOverwatch mainstream Western gash, that's it. You did say missing out though
I've been getting into too many silly arguments recently. I think I need a break or a a wank or something and to remember that all this is meaningless and we're all going to die anyway.
That’s the spirit!

So yeah, generally speaking this is all a bit shit, is that the general consensus?

I'd argue there's a good case to be made for "will have fuck all impact on the average FGer".

I'm calling it now - after he gets whatever hideous golden handshake to leave the CEO role, he'll go into politics. Oh fuck, he'll be Trumps' running mate...

Can we vote on which one he gets. Column 1 looks good.

Surely 'Termination for Cause' is appropriate? Not that I expect anything of the sort, but if presiding over a company that's run more like a frat house in an '80s comedy than a multi-billion dollar enterprise doesn't constitute cause, nothing does.
You have two choices here, Bobby, and two choices only - either you knew what was going on, or you didn't. If it's Option A, you're complicit; if it's Option B, you're incompetent.
Regardless of the option chosen, pack up your shit and leave. No six-figure severance pay; no "Thanks for everything, good job"; no pats on the back from your adoring colleagues as you exit the building in a deluge of confetti.
Just clear out your office and leave via the back door while everyone's at lunch, taking only the benefits package to which you're entitled. No, you can't keep that stapler, you cheap twat - you can afford to buy Staples, you don't need it. What do you mean, you brought that highlighter pen from home? Hand it over.
TL;DR - fuck off, Bobby. Fuck. Right. Off.

It's America. If he gets kicked out for cause he'll almost definitely lawyer up and drag MS through a lengthy legal battle that'll end up in a settlement. Probably better for him to go silently into the night with the best part of a third of a billion (ugh!).

I mean what was going to happen? There is no scenario where he gets any kind of comeuppance, his ridiculous amount of shares always ensured this. Let the cunt get his money and then fuck off. All these book length Twitter threads about all the different possibilities are a cottage industry at present.

Maybe they'll find out that he overinflated his property values, or something.

People just want to see some accountability for all the shit that happened under Kotick's watch, which is fair. To leave with a £400m payout should never be considered fair.

I don't know what to say, it's the way of the World.
In the past people had religious belief and could console themselves with believing that people were judged when they died. Without that belief it's just somebody walking off into sunset and possibly living a long and very happy life, Bobby will probably die at a 105 years old from a heart attack in the midst of an orgy with some unfortunate 19 year old girls, whatever transgressions he committed will get swept under the rug and forgotten.
People get away with far worse, the results of the Maxwell trial should tell you all you need to know about how justice applies to the rich and powerful.

So yeah, generally speaking this is all a bit shit, is that the general consensus? Bar a few mental "MS will go multi-platform" apologists, yes. I think it's safe to say that when all existing multi-platform contracts have been ridden out, at the very best MS will pick and choose which games are exclusives and which aren't. Even when games are released on PS they will surely charge Sony and therefore their customers a huge amount of money in licenses. I know some people think that Phil Spencer is literally Jesus but even if he were so wonderful, shareholders are going to want to see a return on their $70 billion beyond being able to say Call of Duty is on game pass. But as with the Elder Scrolls MS will be in no rush to confirm one way or the other as the FUD works in their favour

I'm almost certain they'll release the big hitters onto PS, with some caveats that perhaps it doesn't have DLC or looking as good as Series X. Then again what do I care when I'm a greedy fucker who has all 3 consoles.

CoD will remain multiplatform, it’ll just be day one on game pass and MS still get to hoover up all that passive income from micro transactions on PS.

I'm worried for the staff tbh, years of Kotick only to be followed by a huge period of uncertainty. I think Blizzard devs are probably OK but I really think the rest of Activision was bought primarily for the game licenses. I don't think they'll really need the entire $70bn organisation to make the shooty bang bang game

Maybe Toys For Bob can work with Rare to make some good platformers again considering Crash 4 was excellent.

I don't think COD will stay multiplatform. Xbox has always courted the dudebro/chav market. Saying you have to buy an Xbox to play COD pretty much corners that market altogether.

I mentioned this earlier, I'd love to see Raven and id bring back Heretic. No more uncertainties over the license, they're both under MS now.

They need all the help they can get.

The other thing they could potentially do is make CoD et al multiplatform but then have Live as a prerequisite for multiplayer. Probably not, but it’s a possibility. You need an MS account (albeit not Live) for Minecraft cross-platform stuff so the framework is there.

CoD has a massive PS following, maybe larger than on Xbox. It's staying multiplatform, they'll just reap the royalties off PS purchases as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if not a single thing comes out past the existing contracts. I think it is such a stretch to say that ES and COD will definitely continue to be multi-platform since the whole reason MS is buying them is because their first party portfolio is so thin. They're buying successful game IP for the Xbox, they're not spending $70bn for the rights to horse armour or whatever COD sells.
If it was all about game pass, they could have spent a lot less money on a contract that says "put your game on game pass". Fuck, a lifetime contract for every single game would be pennies compared to this. The only way it makes financial sense is to keep value away from their competition.
It's peak 90s MS.

It's like that time they bought Rare and then kept releasing games for Nintendo because Rare had such a big following

If the numbers make sense, it'd be silly not to. It comes up every time these acquisitions happen, but you have to look at Minecraft. It sells too much on other platforms to justify not supporting them. The numbers might not have made sense to keep The Elder Scrolls on PS, but CoD is one of the genuine blockbuster franchises of the business, even taking into account that each entry has fewer players than the last.

Minecraft isn't a great example. It only works if it's ubiquitous. Most of the target audience aren't rabid fanboys. They're playing on whatever hand-me-down shit they've been given. Minecraft needs that community. CoD doesn't. It's already walled off to different platforms (or at least traditionally was) so there's no change to the intrinsic experience. It could be that they'll shit out this year's on all platforms because they've already taken a bath on the work. But 2023 onwards, my bollocks to a barn dance, it'll go exclusive.
