It'd already be practically invisible if you didn't follow and post updates....

For sure, and I don't mind it, hence the participation, but there have been multiple post about how long/boring it is, and the language used (*finally* moving on), etc. But it seems that, for the most part, it's only that way because of non-essential active participation.

I do get all of the complaints and criticisms of this deal, but I am glad it's going to be over, and all things considered I'd rather MS was in charge of Activision than, well, Activision, if that makes sense.

Kotick is clearly a shrewd businessman but also seemingly a fairly garbage human. The fewer people he's responsible for, the better.

I'd be down for a new GH but not if they make it exclusive.

Yeah you would say that's the sort of game that would have to stay multiplatform if they want it to be a success.

It would offset the cost of peripheral R&D/manufacture but with the money behind MS they don't need to make anything multiplat. This is the problem behind this acquisition, from a market perspective.
Phil may wear a t-shirt and have a gamertag but he's still looking out for the business first, and I reckon we'll see a lot of titles go exclusive over time.

Everything that wasn't specifically excluded through the Competition remedies will 100% be exclusive faster than you can say "wear age appropriate clothes, you fucking clown". I just hope they drop the full CoD back catalogue on GamePass at the earliest possible opportunity. I fancy a whole series campaign play through.

If Microsoft could see to it that they buy Harmonix from Epic next please, as I'd take a Rock Band revival over Guitar Hero.
(I'd settle for Guitar Hero though, tbf)

Aren't Harmonix basically dead now and just another part of the Fortnite team?

I think Epic have pretty much gutted all their recent acquisitions at this point.
Heck knows what they were doing when they have a game that practically prints money.

Spending beyond their means is what they're doing. Fortnite makes a lot of money but the revenue isn't what it used to be and they pay through the nose for all those content events.

They can revive Guitar Hero all they want, but, I'm sorry, I won't be buying any more plastic instruments for it, no matter how fun it is - I gave away my Rock Band kit and I'm still stuck with the Guitar Hero band kit and a couple of guitars, my missus should divorce me!

The Fortnite events? Does it really cost that much to put Marvel characters in your game and making an event for them? I dunno, maybe it does, but I thought Fortnite was raking in 200 million or so every month. It sounds bizarre to spend beyond those kind of means. Though I do know they're pushing for the metaverse, so perhaps the thought was making a strong push now to reap the rewards later, but it's clearly not gone too well. I'm just bitter about what happened to Fall Guys, and now what they're doing with Rocket League too.

It's that but also the big collabs they do with movies and singers. It isn't cheap. I don't think player counts are what they used to be in the Pandemic. EVERYONE is feeling that now.

Surely the companies promoting their stuff are paying Epic to put it in Fortnite?

The consensus from podcasts I listen to (Jeff Gerstmann and Nextlander) was that Epic are making more from creator content than the base Battle Royale game, and that has slimmer margins because they need to pay the creators their cut. That’s how they justified the cuts anyway.

I assumed it was a mutually beneficial deal.
What have they done with Fall Guys and Rocket League?

Fall Guys went f2p, had its progression system butchered with the usual battle pass stuff and in the recent round of cuts, Mediatonic was hit pretty hard. One staff member rearranged the company letters in office to spell out Decimation instead.
But this happened after they implemented a creative mode/level builder within the game, and said all future levels would be made within that builder. Which seems like a fine idea, but call me cynical, because I suspect once work on the level builder was done, they figured they didn't need most of the staff since content can now just either be made by users, a smaller crew, or even outsourced entirely. I've also read the maps in the level builder are generally of lower quality, but I've not played much Fall Guys since the shift anyway.
I think Epic realise that having users churn out content is one of the most sustainable business models, since it requires much less from their end yet they can keep up with every current trend to keep players engaged. It's worked for Roblox, even if they're shady and exploit children, and I think Epic wants a piece of the pie.
With Rocket League, again, support had dried up for some time, and now they're removing item trading between players to force them to use the in game shop instead with their extortionate prices. This doesn't affect me as much, but it's still just cuntish behaviour.

I only played Fall Guys for a short time, and that was when it was already f2p, so I probably didn't notice. I always thought Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket League had very similar battle pass stuff, but maybe they didn't start out that way.
After dozens of emails and becoming rather rude, i finally got my kid's 5 Robux returned after they removed the community-made item she'd bought from the store. They weren't happy about returning their imaginary 5p though.
I can't remember the name of the community-driven game that they released a year or so back, but it did seem like Roblox with better graphics. I can see why it might appeal, they must need a massive army of artists and creators to keep pumping out all those Fortnite Skins, exotics, cars, etc..
Plus, judging by my kids, Roblox is effectively the infinite game to end all games. They don't really need to play any other games as all games ever made exist in Roblox (in cut down shitty forms that will hold their attention for an hour or so)
