Being an asshold judge sounds like grounds for cancelation, to be fair.

You'd have to be a special kind of cunt to make a death threat of any kind, but I just can't fathom how thick you'd have to be as well to make a public one against a bloody judge of all people.

Also, not for nothing, but weren’t some of the concessions that Microsoft couldn’t make it exclusive, couldn’t put it on GamePass and couldn’t have any additional content? What is even the point then? If the only change is that Microsoft gets richer, who cares besides shareholders? It can’t “kill” PlayStation because the releases stay the same, and newsflash, Microsoft already has more in the bank than Sony, even with much smaller marketshare.

They can't put it on GP till next year I believe as Sony still have an existing deal. But sounds like all old COD games will be able to go on GP.

Tbh I don't really like this for the industry at all, but hopefully it means a stop to MS's spending spree for a while now

I personally feel it makes perfect sense…
COD surely is the gaming existence of the USA’s gun obsession personified… why would it not be owned by the biggest USA gaming company?
Best way surely is to vote with your feet… just don’t play them! (I personally jumped off the COD big wheel of games about 10yrs ago when I stopped PC gaming)

Honestly, I was okay with it if it meant they were building a competitive portfolio for themselves. If the end result is just moneybags gets moneybaggier, it feels shitty, and I fall on the consolidation bad side.

If you think of it as MS Vs PS competitive is a thing. If you take in the wider industry it's just mid level publishers getting crushed out of existence, which is bad as they actually make the good shit.

Can they get someone like Toys for Bob working on a new Banjo please.
Them or Double Fine would be the perfect choice IMO.

Double fine would be my choice but that would mean waiting longer for psychonauts 3 so no.

I reckon it will be at least another 5 years before P3 is shown. Hope it's sooner but the way they have talked about it recently they aren't in any rush.
That didn't take long...

It would be great to see a new Banjo, but when Grant Kirkhope was interviewed earlier this month and said he didn't think the market was there for a Banjo 3 on Xbox, it felt like the vast majority of the commenters agreed with him and just didn't seem very interested in the prospect of reviving the series.
Banjo 3 for Game Pass and Switch would be a money maker though, surely?

I was hoping for a free console copy of D4 out if all of this but watch this silly agreement mean actiblizz stuff can't go on GP.
Also acti have been going a few years a gobbled a while load of shit over their time. Do they have anything interesting in their portfolio of shit?

Will be more to do with cloud gaming which is what the CMA went with after the COD argument fell through.
Might just end up being all the remedies the EU and MS agreed on.

Heh, I remember Blinx being the main reason I wanted an Xbox back in the day. Never mind your Halos, give me the game with a time travelling cat!
Mechassault too.
For some reason I've never played either of them.

Yeah I didn't buy an Xbox for Halo. It was largely for the Sega exclusives. Never really gave Blinx a proper go but have been tempted to buy it when it's on sale.

For me, it was Fable. Absolutely loved that game. That, Chronicles of Riddick, and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic were the games I got it for, and the only games I remember playing on it

I do still have a copy of Blinx. I honestly don't remember playing it though.

Popped over to GAF to watch the fallout, wasn't disappointed! Just want it to be over now, good or bad, the toxicity surrounding the whole thing has been utterly exhausting for the most part. Hopefully it means I have to look at less Jim Ryan memes. It has been entertaining at least to see how many people closely align themselves to a consumer product enough to get offended on behalf of it. Resident Evil 4 Remake is mediocre.

I went from PS2 to x360 because I wasn’t wedded to either console, and the PS3 was crazy expensive. Backwards compatibility was a huge factor in getting an Xbox One rather than switching back again, and even without Game Pass there’s no way I’d have considered PS5 over Series X, because I’d have been saying goodbye to hundreds of games I bought or acquired digitally.
(99% of which I’ll never actually play again)

Playstation users that built up a catalogue of games are the same. Pc users too and we've been doing it loooooonger.
Probably why ms went so hard on GP so you don't need to have that back catalogue if you can pay to access one

For me, it was Fable. Absolutely loved that game. That, Chronicles of Riddick, and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic were the games I got it for, and the only games I remember playing on it There were probably a few reasons why I bought an Xbox rather than a PS2 (having never owned a console before), but chief among them - no pun intended - was definitely Halo. I played it on a demo pod in a games shop and was utterly blown away. However, another huge consideration was the fact that Lionhead were developing two games that were Xbox exclusives - Project Ego and BC, both of which sounded tremendous. And being an enormous fan of Molyneux, I wanted to play them. Obviously Ego became Fable and BC was canned, sadly, but as Fable is probably my favourite Xbox franchise I'm still happy with what I got. Anyway, this Activision deal - what do we think the "remedies" to get the OK from the CMA will be? I wonder if we'll lose cloud streaming of Acti games here in the UK, which would be a shame; although as long as they're still on Game Pass I guess I don't mind too much.
