Bit odd for them to try and say they released Deathloop and Ghostwire on PS when those deals had been completed before MS bought Bethesda. Would be very dumb to take games like COD off PS. |

aubergine Why would that matter though? Redfall on the PS5 is a pretty unknown quantity, while CoD is very much proven to be a massive sell-through.

Because I don’t play CoD. I used to play a lot of stuff Bethesda published, though. I’d don’t see it as being about one game franchise.

They have been saying that when they looked into it all they don't think they will lose any money long term due to rise in Gamepass subscriptions and those still buying the games on Xbox or PC while that would never be the case with games like COD which make a lot more money through the transactions.
Which seems odd as I don't see this 50m subs by next year being true just because of this deal.
And you are still taking away at least 5M plus PS5 sales for a game like Elder Scrolls 6.
New IPs they could argue as they don't have a fanbase.
Surely they would need to look at small studios for a while? And buying a Japanese company would probably have a hard time passing in Japan?

A quick Google makes it sound difficult but not impossible with a few significant caveats. You'd think at this point Sony would need to get there first though who could they afford realistically?

There have been rumours about Sony purchasing Sqeenix for ages, but I think it;s just fan theory more than anything. There are plenty of options out there for the right money, and MS have a lot of the right money.
I still don’t think these very large acquisitions are good though. It’s gonna look fucking awful if in 10 years all the ActiBlizz stuff does start to go exclusive.

Overwatch wouldn't.
What is this everything anyway, Activision owns loads of ip but only make cod. Blizzard do wow and hearthstone (not on console)and Diablo, which will be out before anything happens and takes years between iterations. Warcraft and StarCraft are similar.
It's not like there would suddenly be this huge gap in games.

Yeah, this deal would have been significant 20 years ago, but there are so many publishers and developers out there so this deal is hardly going to leave a gap in any console library.

COD, Diablo and Overwatch will definitely stay MP IMO. I would say Crash Bandicoot as well because of how well the trilogy and last game did on PS and Switch. I have it on good authority though that this deal is simply so MS can make Blur 2. |
