With ITV I’ve usually found that setting a timer for 5 minutes on my phone and switching to a different channel is preferable.
Alternatively mute and read a bit of this week’s Private Eye.

there's a renault ad where the voiceover alternates pronouncing "hybrid" with the emphasis on the second syllable like a danger and on the first like a normal. This annoys me.
and there's an ad for some car supermarket which - fucking devious - is entirely silent making your subconscious think something's wrong with the telly so you glance up and accidentally get an advert right into your eyeballs. This also annoys me.

The tons of small print at the bottom of certain ads that basically renders the headline of the advert a lie.

When a mobile ad finishes playing, and you have to wait ten seconds for the X in the corner to appear to dismiss the ad, only to be confronted by another screen with an installation button, which also forces you to wait another ten seconds for an X button to appear...

Bang on, I was moaning to my wife about this the other day about that ad... to me photography is about capturing a moment in time, when I look back at family photos from decades past I know I am looking at and reminiscing about a moment that actually happened. Wouldn't it actually be funny for those guys to look back at that series of photos in 10 years time and laugh about how they never managed to get one right? Because that's what actually happened? And the previous Google campaign about removing "unwanted" objects from photos, "my mate stuck his hand out holding a burrito" or whatever it was, isn't that actually a really funny moment you'd laugh about in years to come, rather than editing it out of existence? It's depressing to me, I'm happy others feel the same.
