So, MvdP went up that last 18% climb last year at an average of 27kph… 😳

Camera coverage of that last few hundred metres was abysmal.

Camera coverage of that last few hundred metres was abysmal. Damn Italians! Awesome win! Just started watching the men's. What a summersault* by Alaphillipe in the crash! *He's fine, currently chasing with a 2 minute+ gap.

Missed the crash because I was sorting lunch out. Was that gusts or helicopter causing that?

While nasty to see the first crash, it made me chuckle watching riders remount only to topple over again. Relatable.

Remarkable, he’s not even particularly in an aero position, unlike the peloton chasing him. Hell of a talent, even with all the drugs he’s definitely on.

Dunno if you folks caught the finish of the womens, was fantastic and made great, again, by that final climb. A proper iconic section in cycling that.

Camera coverage of that last few hundred metres was abysmal. I was grateful for the replay, since they cut away from the final overtake to show those behind

Having the women ride before the men instead of after makes such a difference. You get a cracking final early on and then you get to chill out and wait for the next final.
Beautifully done by Kopecky.

Last weekend Van Vleuten was almost as impressive as Kopecky today. Voldering is intrinsically faster and spent the last 12k or so drafting Van Vleuten. So should have been an easy win for her but somehow Van Vleuten kept pulling. youtu.be/TtL6N5yR-nM?t=145

Whew. That's hardly a climb where you would have thought they'd drop the lot. Impressive team effort.

That Paris Nice finish reminded me of the EPO era, and Gewiss–Ballan just riding off into the distance.

Quintana really is a spent force these days.
Trying to attack on the last climb in paris-nice and dropped again.

Quintana really is a spent force these days. Trying to attack on the last climb in paris-nice and dropped again. And being dropped by the pace set by Wout Van Aert no less. Not exactly a rider with a climber build.

I thought Quintana still manages to surprise. He was a crosswind king earlier in the week. And was setting some times up French climbs last month.
I think everyone suffers in comparison to Pog and Rog, though if you see how Pog spanked Vingegaard yesterday, we can only cross our fingers it’s a competitive season.
At least Simon Phillip Yates caused some excitement today and got rewarded.

Sooo, La Primavera on Saturday.
Pogacar vs Wout? Or an outsider? Mathieu VdP will rejoin the peloton as well on Saturday.

I'll take MvdP

No way Caleb would have kept up with Wout and Tadej as they inevitably attack on either the Cipressa or the Poggio.
