There's a party I've half heartedly committed to but I'm tempted to swerve it and go and see Spiderman as I'm hoping it might be quiet in the cinema on NYE.
Rock and roll.

How many of us will not make It past midnight? Had about 4 hours sleep last night and have spent all morning shopping and dealing with deliveries (just finished), so chances are I'll be asleep by 8! We've got pizza in for tonight (that's what people wanted) and I think we'll play a game (Sherlock Holmes escape room maybe). Tomorrow's my birthday so I got hold of a copy of the menu from our favourite Chinese and asked everyone to order and I'm going to cook. Thankfully it's just salt and pepper chicken, stir fried vegetables in Oyster sauce, special fried rice, chips, curry sauce (my youngest is a Philistine and always orders chips and curry sauce - I've bought in Dundee groundnut oil to try and copy the taste of their chips), spring rolls, plawn clackers and fortune cookies. I'm of an age where I don't want to think about my birthday as it's depressing how old I am. That said, I'm not old enough to watch hootenanny...

And yes, this year can do one. Two of my friends have died, I lost a job offer and now I'm losing my job / being taken on by some Indian firm I've never heard of and I worked three people's jobs for four months. Contrary wise, kids are happy and doing really well at school and my cats are completely ignoring my existence, so they must be happy too. My wife is still with me, despite me being me, so that's another positive. COVID tried it's best, but it's running out of 2021 to get me now and I've had a couple of years WFH which is something I never thought would happen.

Made it to midnight! Managed to get through the extra special utter shite Japanese TV shows that they roll out for new year, which are somehow worse than the utter shite tv shows they put on every day. Even made it without resorting to drink! At least the soba and viennetta were good. Have a good new year everyone! May 2022 be a big improvement!
I'm off to bed.

Happy New Year, Bill! (But unhappy new year to Ben...)
Yeah, I'm probably just gonna watch Netflix till midnight myself tonight. Already got pretty drunk on Christmas Eve, I don't have any urge to repeat that so soon. So it's just a Friday to me.

I think we'll watch that Quiz of the Year thing that Mr annoying laugh does on Channel 4. I think that's our usual.

I'm going with a Jerusalem artichoke and potato puree. Mushrooms, and Madeira sauce.
Mussels for starter and a tiramisu for dessert.

I'm just confused do we use this thread or the "official" one?

You’ll have to make one, if that’s the level you’re sinking to..

2 beers and only 2 beers, a dim sum feast to gorge on and waking up sober/unhungover tomorrow is the plan.

Just a quiet new year in with the family for me. They all look suitably excited.

She loves sitting on it, hates it when it moves though. We currently have a weird situation where Nozomi (fluffy silver 1.5kg midget) is scared of Podrick (6kg grey brute) who will pin her down and beat her up, but she won’t take any shit from Kernow (dog), and will gladly stand her ground, hiss at him and twat him round the face if he gets too close. But Podrick is terrified of Kernow, will run until he’s backed into a corner and then cry (he’s too stupid to think to get to higher ground). It’s like a very fluffy game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Have a good 'un, fellow Font Geeks, whether you're going out or staying in.
As for me, I've been social distancing since before it was trendy, so I'll be remaining indoors by myself with a selection of the finest ready-made cuisine M&S has to offer! (If anyone was feeling bad about their own NYE plans, there ya go - I've set the bar so low, it's practically subterranean. You're welcome.)

Ulythium, I've just eaten reheated left over curry with microwaved left over chips. It was as grotty as it sounds. I had some garlic bread in place of naan and that was by far the best bit.
Swap you 🙂
You can keep the COVID though.

I'd love to stay in and watch TV with a glass of wine, but instead, we're off to a friend's house for a "covid-safe" fully outside evening with jacket potatoes and hotdogs, and fireworks at midnight. Not looking forward to keeping the 6 year old going that long, I'll probably have to top her up with sweets every hour and try to stop her trashing the place.
Happy new year everyone, hope your 2022 is at least as good as you could possibly hope for

Oi! I don't have COVID - my penchant for social distancing stems from a mixture of anxiety, shyness, and general dumbassery...
... Although now I see it written out like that, I don't think it's a whole lot better than 'Rona!
Thanks for making me feel happier about my microwaveable pasta ready meal, side salad, and individual profiterole

Yeah I'd quite happily stay in too, but we're off to see friends in a COVID unsafe way inside their house. I'll enjoy it once we get there.
