So after having zero interest in playing these upon release, due to having again zero interest in the "roguelite" loop gameplay, I decided to have a look as I do like the FC gunplay and worlds. Have to admit to having a lot of fun over the 3 dlc campaigns (each lasting me approx 2 hours each) it was fun playing as Vaas, Joseph and Pagan Min and being in "their" FC worlds. I am happy I have seen all I want to without playing over and over again on higher difficulties, to unlock better guns, perks etc. The insta-death and losing all progression might start to grate if I did repeatedly play them!

1. A Plague Tale: Innocence (PS5) (16/1/22) (8/10) 2. Beyond a Steel Sky (PS5) (22/1/22) (8.5/10) 3. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (PS5) (9/2/22) (8/10) 4. And played through the second episode of LiS2. Again the story felt well told and kept my interest. I don't know how much choices mattered at this stage but the characters are still working well for me and looking forward to the 3rd chapter. A lot better than the pretty poor Before the Storm spinoff of LiS1.
Elsewhere started PS5 Demon's Souls too which has distracted me from Death Stranding. Mary Skelter and my Switch are sitting neglected too.

An old platformer from the Apogee era. Not that hard, but can get frustrating if you are going for a high score in each level. The remaster doesn't change much, but there is an extra episode which is okay enough, if somewhat underwhelming.

Fuck my life I ended up skipping a lot as they just don't stop fucking talking. I've played every game in the series and found these two to be significantly more wordy, boring and forgettable. Go back to the Phoenix Wright games please.
Broken wrist still (hence not playing GT7, Horizon, Elden Ring or Cyberpunk) but am able to hold the controller and do some light movements so am going to try and play Lake, which seems like an easy going game.

Turned out I was almost at the end so polished off ep 4 of LiS2. The scenario wasn't an entirely original one but it was told quite well and fit the story so far. Ready for the final chapter now.
Chrono Cross should arrive soon too as a handheld game to potentially play (looks at the close to being completed Mary Skelter and neglected Shin Megaten V...)

The finnicky combat holds it back, especially against the last couple bosses, but it's a competent action game that doesn't outstay its welcome.

Meant to post this yesterday bit forgot. Finished Life is Strange 2 and enjoyed the final part of the story too. Overall I liked the long road trip style of the story and preferred the setting to the original LiS (which I still enjoyed unlike it's awful prequel). A few nods to other games are a nice touch too. Not sure what's next on console to play...

Very good game and I think could have been a perfect 10 but for some of my issues with the map and objectives. That is probably just me though. I did start it in 2017! but only for an hour or two, then went back to it in 2021, again for a few hours before finally sticking with it until the end this last month or so.
Atmosphere was spot on and the abilities were a lot of fun. I did play on "easy" not sure I would have enjoyed if I played on hard or even normal...no days I just want to enjoy the ride without to much replaying the same sections over and over. I would absolutely recommend, only play it through from start to finish!
Oh Yeah!

"Short" doesn't even begin to describe it, but at least it looks and sounds nice and there's a real countryside feel to it.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood (PS4 on PS5) (24/5/22) (7/10)
Played through the PS4 version on PSNow as the PS5 one wasn't an option. Clearly a lower budget game than some but I enjoyed it. It has its gameplay clunkiness (encouragement of stealth bit no way to stealthily incapacitate larger enemies that I ever figured out for example) but the general gameplay loop doesn't outlast it's welcome as it isn't the longest game. Finished both ending by repeating last chapter on an older cloud save. Combat, although simplistic is quit fun, but the enemy variety is a touch lacking. The bonus sidequests fit the world well and I enjoyed the general story even if it wasn't the most original. Voices and music were decent enough too. Graphically it did the job. Not a game to pay full price for but I enjoyed going through it. I managed 80% of trophies.
Next I hope to polish off Mary Skelter and got some time off work to hopefully get some more games done too. No way I am going to get anywhere near 52 this year though...

Finally got around to trying Astro's Playroom and enjoyed it. Very pretty and a nice mix of gameplay styles using the controller's different options. Nice nods to PlayStation history throughout too. I didn't get every trophy but I did get all the jigsaw pieces, gachas and artifacts while completing the game.
Also, nearly finished Mary Skelter (did the bad ending intentionally now to grab the character endings and the good and true endings before it gets entered on the list.

92 hours later finished with all endings and platinum trophy (base team around level 92). Post-game dungeon not 100% explored as massive nor the post-true end extra floor but I think I have done enough. The game is a fun, anime horror dungeon crawler with a tad too much fan service that is thankfully skippable (we don't need rubbing mini games in every Vita game and thankfully this one isn't necessary). Story is reasonably well done and that dungeons can be interesting. A nightmare system which has shades of Etrian adds some challenge but can be annoying at times as you lose your map while escaping. Graphics are decent enough with a decent variety of environments and enemies (plus the usual DRPG pallette swaps of course). Japanese voice acting is mostly decent and the music is quite good. Had some challenge to it but got easier as I ended up over-levelled (the true end boss would have been pretty hard if my party was weaker). Going to play something else (maybe Chrono Cross or Soul Hackers) before moving onto sequels though.
A week off work helped get a bit of game time in. Also playing Death Stranding on PS5 at the moment but may stray. I remain massively behind schedule.

I played on solo on "easy" and apart from a couple of latter bosses, it was probably too easy. If I re-roll I will up skill. I did enjoy enough to keep playing, obviously and have many sides still to do, but it is definitely one of the weaker B'lands. I would put it after 1,2 (with 2 being the total stand out in the series), and Pre-sequel but ahead of 3. The story is mostly bobbins of course, some nice loot although I only found about 5 legendary weapons over the course of my playthrough, this could be down to playing it on pisseasy mode ? I wouldn't reward me either I'm on the penultimate level of SE5, so that should be completed sometime in the coming week. Onward and upward.

Between breaking my wrist, getting married, PS5 having to be sent back for repairs, been a pretty slow few weeks for games!
Very pleased they released this on modern consoles, wish they did it more often so I can finally play some of these classics! Managed to recruit ever character but one, but would mean playing the entire game again to get him and I think the almost two entire playthroughs were enough!
Moving house next weekend so think if I get any time, will be split between moving Yakuza 6 along and Xenoblade 2: Torna which I should really focus on before 3 is out in July!
If I ever get my PS5 back, straight back on Horizon which i was about 30 hours into as I'd like to finish that so I can start Elden Ring.

Very enjoyable, but it really is more of the same as previous two games, which I suppose is bound to happen. Would have been nice to commandeer some of the vehicles though for example. Also even on lower difficulties some of the enemy are total sponges! some lovely maps as usual. Whole game took around 18 hours, so not too long, I did however gun and run a lot of the levels, which is not really the way to play of course. I usually take my sweet time with these games to 100% levels, I did not this time, I might go back though.
Seemed to have a bit of a hitman vibe also, I had the option to poison some wine to kill an officer instead of shooting him for example.
Onward and upward...Next!

14: Ben 10: Power Trip (xbox,GP) beat 18/06/22. 6/10
I only started the game as getting a cheveo in it netted me 550 gamepass quest points! anyway as always I try and complete any game I start, so that is what i did. Took just under 10 hours and it was ok. action adventure with platforming (easy, thankfully) and light combat. You could also transform into various monsters, which I assume "Ben" does in the cartoon. Only netted 550 odd gamerpoints so still lots to do, but I have completed the story, so will likely leave there.
Onward and upward...Next!

Now to finally start Elden Ring...

Emulated is good enough for me. It had been too long. It still slaps.

Death Stranding Director's Cut (PS5) (8.5/10)
Finally polished this off after spending far too much time 5 starring all locations and building all roads, also missing that vehicles have turbo button for 80 hours probably built my game time up unnecessarily too. Finished on 114 hours but only 758 of trophies and Porter Grade 326.
The games mix of weird story and big bleak landscapes gelled for me even if the traversal bit became more of a road trip by vehicles as the game drew on. Been playing in dribs and drabs and may do a few post game challenges at some point but this is it recorded. Very pretty in ultra wide mode and had some interesting sequences interspersed. A bit waffly at times but hey, Kojima.
Planning to go through AIvNirvan Initiative or The Missing next on PS5 and playing Yurukill on Switch.
Wonder if I will even reach 20 games this year...

It was an ok click and point adventure game, great use of artwork and period music. The actual game had some good humour but I found some of the "puzzle" elements a little hit and miss, did use a guide at certain points. Onward and upward

Short but atmospheric cyberpunk with a cat. Gameplay works surprisingly well and the world and hubs are well realised without the usual low Res objects being over prominent. Music was fitting and it had enough variety for its short runtime. I did miss 4 memories though (1 in an action bit and 3 in the final hub somehow despite thing that I ahd explored it well). Worth a play and a nice PSPlus Premium bonus. Now back to Ai Nirvana Initiative on PS5 and Yurukill on Switch...

Really enjoyed that, wasn't actually what I was expecting exactly from the trailers etc.
Similar to the above, back to AI Nirvana Initiative and Elden Ring whilst I wait for the Steam Deck and Xenoblade 3 this week...

From website: "The game is set in 1996, within the fictional nation of Petria, an authoritarian country ruled by a harsh dictatorship but undergoing a potentially transformative election season. The player controls the actions of several teenagers as they attempt to flee the country through Petria's northern border via Road 96"
From me: Excellent game, even though I went in blind, so didn't release it had "roguelite" gameplay, which normally I hate. Loads of wonderful characters and great stories during your adventure. I completed over 3 sessions/2 days and it took 10 hours. If you like narrative adventure games I thoroughly recommend.
9/10
