Well, that might sound bad. But Biden couldn't remember the names of a couple of people. And also he isn't solving the Israel-Palestine conflict fast enough in exactly the way that I demand.
So better stay home!

Protest voting in the primary to put pressure on Biden is one thing, the problem is that a lot of those people are openly saying they won't vote for him in November either (or worse, outright vote for Trump, in some cases)... They're essentially willing to accept four more years of Trump, some "short term pain" (their words) to maybe possibly get Biden/the Democrats to become more progressive and work faster on the Israel/Palestine situation.
My question is: are you fucking KIDDING ME?!?! Trump. Mr Project 2025 ( en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_2025 ). This guy. The guy that's openly supported every oppressor and aggressor under the sun, convicted criminal that's openly said "I'll fuckin' do it again", whose cronies are anti-everything and everyone that doesn't benefit them and have openly supported and promised the end of democracy. This is the fucking shitcake they're prepared to inflict on America and the world. What in the nine circles of hell is it about Trump that's making them think he's in any way the better option for anything going on in the world right now? The only way he's "stopping" any wars or genocides is by making sure the aggressors finish the job, a potential Trump admin will deport his own supporters if they're a shade too dark, they can kiss goodbye to any improvement re: climate change, people's rights etc and as for the "short-term" bullshit, if they think he's ever getting out of that chair before ensuring only his people ever sit in it again (even if he dies) I've got some golden sneakers and NFTrumps to sell them! Just... Fuck's sake! And it's only March (in a couple days)!

Fours years is "short term pain"?
I'll just pop back to November 1918 and tell everyone it's fine, it's only short term. Fucking hell. Short term pain is not a thing when these people MAKE DECISIONS THAT AFFECT THE WORLD.

The part that kills me about the "short term pain" BS is that, even if four years could be argued to be short term (it's not), the kinds of shit a new Trump administration would get up to go far beyond that. Wars, women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, just people's rights in general, global balance of power and alliances, economy and education... There's nothing "short term" about the consequences from the way a Trump admin would handle all this...
But no, Sloppy Joe didn't wave his magic wand and make everything exactly the way we wanted it, so we'll vote for the infinitely worse option instead (or abstain) to force the system to change (spoilers, it'll get worse) or because we don't want to "endorse genocide" (spoilers, even assuming Biden is at fault for all that, Trump will still be worse and he'll deport them back there to be a part of it too).

To me it's a no brainer. Bidens far too old, certainly not best to lead Democrats..but in a Russia/Ukraine war and Israel/Gaza conflict do you really want Trump dictating things? Does anyone remember the instability of those years in charge, the constant negativity. By comparison the Biden term has been much more quiet and stable. As much as it could be given what's happened I guess.

I can grudgingly accept not voting for Biden but I can't wrap my head around voting for Trump instead as a "protest".

I find it fascinating that the Trump MAGA movement are quite plainly saying "yeah, if you vote us in we're going to effectively change the way government functions and do away with democracy, while working to repeal the rights of women, same sex couples and other minorities" and people are like, "well, I'd rather that than another four years of old man Biden lol".
It's just fucking wild.

It's the difference I see all the time. The right can rally around something and (weirdly) compromise to achieve a win. The left can argue about ideology and lose.

I can understand not being enthusiastic about voting for Biden, but unless both him and Trump die before November, one of them will be the next president. Anyone whose politics are left of centre and doesn't show up to vote for Biden is an asshat as far as I'm concerned; the same goes for anyone of a conservative persuasion who hasn't swallowed the MAGA Kool-Aid.
I know I'm veering close to 'finger-wagging supercilious douchebag' territory here, if not crossing the line outright, but this isn't the time for purity tests and other self-defeating 'liberal' crap (in my humble opinion, of course).

Truth be told, I can't. Same. Even if I don't live there, I saw what things were like under Trump and I saw what things were like under Biden. It's incredibly shortsighted to think that a protest is worth subjecting everyone to Trump again. Even if you're "only" abstaining, in the shitty Electoral College, first-past-the-post system, abstaining might as well be a vote for the other guy, and while I can appreciate the desire to see said system change, putting Trump in the White House again will only push more gerrymandering, more misinformation, more Republican control over who is able to or even allowed to vote and, at worst, make the elections matter about as much as, say, Russia's (or just an out-and-out dictatorship)... There'll be change alright, but by the time the leopard's eating their faces too it'll be far too late to realize how much they fucked up, if they even care to... But hey, they kicked the Boogeyman out! Woo!

I think everyone sane should vote for Biden as it prevents any chance of that lunatic Trump getting back into the most powerful job in the world. He won’t improve anyone’s life, domestic or foreign, unless you’re rich or racist. I think Biden the only rational choice when it’s a system like the US’.
However I find it really hard to begrudge the Arab community for not acting rationally, and just wanting something to change, because the last 5 months has been hell on earth for Palestinians and I don’t know how you could come away from it and not feel that your life is worth less in the eyes of your government.
If for instance the USA completely backed the British army wiping Ireland off the map after IRA terror in the 70s, god knows the Irish diaspora wouldn’t have voted for whoever was in charge approving it, even if the potential replacement wouldn’t change policy.

Some of it is purity politics, some of it is genuine apathy for the terrible political system that exists within the country and some is just a product of I want things to change now without realising that change is continuous and difficult and requires hard work. Also I guess you can't really put left and right as an amorphous blob because there are so many permutations and the "left" in America is also made up of centre right people, sorry I meant to say SOCIALISTS.

There's also a contingent of "just want to watch the world burn" folks who don't actually care about making things better.
BURN IT ALL DOWN
Ok, and replace it with what?

I can perfectly understand some people caring about the Gaza issue enough to not want to vote for Biden. Sometimes one issue is enough to Trump the others.
Though surely if Trump wins he's going to be even worse for them on that issue.
Hopefully by the time the election rolls around the situation in Gaza won't be quite as horrible. Which would mean some of those people drifting back to Biden, and less chance to Trump to make it even worse.

There's no world where America does not support Israel. I'm not sure why people think this is going to change if they don't vote for Biden.

Even if some people aren't happy about voting for Biden/Democrats for whatever reason, they're at least committed to democracy. Letting Trump win and Republicans control/cripple Congress would mean a significant risk that their vote will never matter again. Either through some sort of direct perversion of the government or by simply destroying their election system and voter rights even more. They're not even secretive or vague about wanting to do it. They've already fucking tried.
It's not just throwing your vote away, it's burning down the house while you're still in it. And that's just the most dire consequence in addition to all the other chaos and cruelty it's guaranteed to bring. It might suck that those are the only options, but that's what at stake. It's completely insane that it's even a contest. I fundamentally cannot get my head around how anyone can look at that blatantly vile, ignorant, criminal piece of shit - hear the utter inane insanity that comes out of him - and think he should be allowed power over anyone. It was madness in 2016. I can't think of words for how unbelievably stupid it is now.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court will determine whether he really can claim immunity. Speaking of which, apparently they were asked in December, will hear arguments in April and decide by the end of June, and assuming he's not immune the trials probably won't start until at least September if not October. So there's absolutely zero chance he's held accountable for anything before the election, and if he wins he's not being held accountable after, either. Incidentally, when Bush asked the Supreme Court to stop the Florida recount back in 2000, the entire case was resolved between Dec 8th and Dec 12th. Four goddamn days.

But hey, on the bright side, Bitch McConnell is stepping down as GOP Senate leader in November. When you consider that he might have done more damage to American democracy than even Trump... Good fucking riddance

True, but I can't help think that with the current Republicans in the senate it's going to be like here and whoever they replace him with is going to be even worse.
