Gotta get those dribbling Newsmax viewers back somehow. pretty much after the whole Dominion lawsuit, a lawsuit that should have gone all the way to court rather than a settlement.

I wouldn’t get too excited about Trump’s latest. The trial has been given to the same Trump-appointed nutcase Florida judge who interfered with the investigation, and she could quite easily fuck it up or just dismiss the whole case. Yes, that is a thing. Interestingly, there are crimes mentioned in the indictment that are not among the charges. A pundit speculated that the DOJ didn’t add this to the Florida charges because it could be tried in Jersey if the Florida case is thrown out by the corrupt judge. edit this guy gives a good summary: youtu.be/-6NklrsinFk

Thread on a DoJ investigation into the behaviour of Minneapolis PD officers. Extraordinary.

That thread is really insane, they're not police they're criminals with a badge.

That list of insane cases just kept going. This is probably only tip of iceberg stuff too...

I wonder if not for corona, would we see war with Iran. January 2020 was heating up, 2 months later nobody gave crap about Iran.

Iran is still in play as one of few suppliers to Russia. Iranian drones not proving too ineffective. But yeah otherwise all is drowned out by Russia/Ukraine, in west.

It's an open and shut case, reading it in the indictment is one thing but hearing it?
Lock the fucker up and throw away the key.

And all of this would have been swept under a rug if he just returned everything when he was asked to do so.
Senile old fart should be at home.

Watch as he claims the Republican nomination, and we're left with the wonderful question of how a presidential candidate can campaign (and maybe even govern) from jail. Unless he pardons himself, which is another fun conundrum.

It seems to be making him more popular with his base. I assume it won't play well with moderates and moderate-republicans, but are there any of those left?

I think he's toxic enough to the general electorate that he will not actually get elected. Especially against Biden who, regardless of what you think about his policies or mental acuity, has a distinct advantage of being basically a normal human being and not... whatever Trump is.
But given what happened in 2016, this is not something I would bet money on.

He seems to be slightly ahead in speculative polls of Trump vs Biden. Though there's only 1-2% in it and it depends on the poll, so it's basically neck and neck. And entirely speculative at this point.

I mean, it ultimately came down to a pretty small number of votes in 2020 too. Not in terms of popular vote, but in terms of the screwy electoral college thing that Americans can't seem to shake.

If Trump gets back in again after all this then the rest of the world is just going to have to write America off. They're done.
Even if Trump doesn't change the constitution to enable him and his family to stay in power forever, it won't be long before we get Terry Crews in a wig as foretold in the prophecies.

The shittier Trumpy state governments made a series of moves post 2020 to be able to simply do what he tried to in 2020. It mainly didn’t work because the people in charge of the elections had integrity, so the Republicans have got rid of those people. American democracy is in no less peril than it was years ago, and the only particular hope is that a large enough half of the general populace see through the GOP’s bullshit by now. They can’t allow themselves to act like Trump couldn’t possibly win.

So presumably that also means you could refuse to serve people on the grounds that they’re a bigoted religious person?
Edit: Although I presume religion has a special opt out because they’re special
