It's the Al Capone tactic innit.

But Al Capone was charged with actual crimes (well, actual crimes recently passed into law), not "maybe this a felony, sometimes?" misdemeanors.
Maybe (hopefully) they will eventually get him with things that actually matter. But they're starting off with the weakest one.

It’s* finally happened! *AI digital imagery has reached a point where people might believe these without further inspection . Clearly fake, ai is shit with hands and those are far too big to be his. Would be amazing if it had been taught to make every picture of his have baby hands

His hair survives that tumble to the ground but opens up like a shocked dandelion puff in a light breeze.

Sure, it's not hard to tell it's fake if you give it more than a passing glance, but this stuff makes me wonder where the tech could be in just 2-3 years time. I was reading just this morning an article about elderly couples getting scammed out of money by phone calls made by AI tools to sound exactly like relatives.
Clearly the only solution is to avoid appearing with your face and voice on the internet at all.

Yeah, the scary thing about AI isn't what it's doing right now. The scary thing is that, eventually, we won't be able to tell the difference.
Honestly, I think it should be banned outside of a few limited applications. Humanity isn't remotely ready for it.

Well I just hope that, even if someone were to call a relative of mine with my voice, they will still be able to tell it's a scam once I start raving about needing money for a Nigerian prince.

Until the time comes when you do actually need money for your Nigerian prince, then who's gonna believe you?

Thing is, fully half of American voters already can’t tell (or don’t care) that completely transparent bullshit, is bullshit. I can immediately tell those pictures are fake without zooming in because what’s happening in them would clearly never happen. I’m not sure making the picture quality perfect would really fool that many more people.

The most obviously fake thing in the pictures is him running. As if.
There seems to be an school of thought in some quarters that once he's been charged with this relatively minor thing, other more serious indictments will follow and it won't be as much as a shock to the system because the idea will have already been out there.
I still seriously doubt that he'll actually do any time and with the way things in America are, he'll be able to use this as further opportunities to fleece his most loyal supporters for as much as they can give to fund his defences.
Actually, I'm surprised that Boris hasn't done a GoFundMe for his own upcoming committee appearance, yet.

True; that's just making sure the solicitors get paid (most un-Trumplike) though. My suggestion was for him to pocket the cash. He's a shit grifter, just like he's a shit everything else.

He doesn’t need it. I gave three times now. Got a whopping payout. The problem is the money is in Newcastle, and they are scared of incandescent lights. If you send me £25, 000; then I will cut you in for a share.

The scariest thing isn't that the AI will be able to fake stuff, as has been mentioned, people believe shit anyway.
It's the other side of the same coin that worries me. That is where real evidence and truth will become even easier to downplay as fake.

That is where real evidence and truth will become even easier to downplay as fake. Nothing will change in that regard either. The other side of the "people already believe shit anyway" coin, is that people in power are already able to dismiss even some of the most damning evidence. And in many cases, they don't even have to bother dismissing it, they just ignore it and things go their way, all the way.

The hush money payment is hella strong weaksauce seeing as the guy who acted as the bagman went to prison over it
It is political insofar as the only reason that the guy who insisted on it, benefited from it and paid for it hasn’t been prosecuted yet is because of this fairly recent new thing in America where the president is considered beyond the law

It’s also one of several charges probably in the pipeline, but these aren’t mutually exclusive or have any order of operations, and “hold off on the smaller charges until we get to the big stuff” is in itself weak sauce. Ignoring the smaller crimes is giving them a free pass.

Call me petty if you want, but I want him charged for everything. Every little thing. Drag him to the courtroom for not paying a parking meter that one time while shooting Home Alone 2. Make him worry about that lollipop he hid under his coat when he was five.
(maybe only report the newsworthy stuff though, otherwise the Republicunts will cry persecution)

I'd like for him to be tried for things he actually has a chance of being found guilty for. And then he can go away and go to jail and stop living in people's heads.
