There’s evidence to suggest it might have been better, at least as far as some metrics go. If he politicized the vaccine as the TrumpVax or something then the hesitancy would have been dramatically reduced from the right wing circles. As it is, the GOP have weaponized it the other way and it’s become a cornerstone of their tactics for the midterms.

Hmmm, well I guess we'll never know. At least we all understand that we're still in the worst timeline though.

"Congress passes $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, delivering major win for Biden - CNNPolitics" edition.cnn.com/2021/11/05/politics/house-votes-infrastructure-build-back-better/index.htmlCongress finally passed Biden's infrastructure bill after months of in-house bickering by democrats. The second part of his legislation, the Build Back Better plan, will likely pass in a couple of weeks... whereupon it will be sent to die in the senate at the hands of Manchin and Sinema. Happy days.

I know Biden's not doing so well, but fuck me nobody does hand-wringing quite like the Democrats- particularly the left-leaning ones. Even when they win they can't be happy for more than a day, not when there's precious bickering and circular fire-squadding to do.
It amazes me how intent they seem to be on fucking themselves.

People are already talking about this Youngkin guy as the one who can thread the needle between having Trumpists on board while not, you know, being an insane person.
But it's a fantasy. You can bet someone in a primary debate will ask, "Hey, so did Biden legitimately win in 2020?". And the only way to answer that in today's Republican party without fucking yourself in some way, is to not answer it at all.
It's so fucking ridiculous. Neither party is fit to govern, but at least the Democrats aren't a cult.

Rittenhouse probably won't get convicted on the most serious charges (which is the correct result, at least as far as US law goes), but the kid is still a fucking dunce. Treating him as some kind of folk hero is really weird.

He literally did nothing wrong with regards to the law. Hello new member. Please provide further insight. I'm particularly interested in your thoughts on how he shot 3 people and killed 2, and did nothing wrong. Oh, wait. I don't actually care about your thoughts. He murdered people with a military weapon and you're being flippant about it. Go fuck yourself.

It's always cool when someone on the forum doesn't have the courage of their convictions and makes an account to spout shit. If you wanna be cunt do it under your real account.

Without wanting to get into a huge argument, "he didn't do anything wrong regarding the law" is *kind of* correct.
As far as the relevant state law goes, and according to the evidence that was shown, the kid thought he was being attacked and acted in self-defence. He heard a gunshot, saw a guy running at him, and (maybe reasonably) thought his life was in danger. So he shot him.
The second one was a guy actually attacking him, probably because he thought he was an active shooter. But he did attack him, and then also got shot. Ditto for the guy who got wounded. Point is, the kid wasn't going around shooting random people. It was only the people who ran at him, so... self-defence.
Of course he was a dumb motherfucker even bringing an openly-carried weapon into that kind of environment, and maybe doing that was provocative in itself. But that doesn't really figure into the law; even dumb assholes still get to protect themselves, even if they're responsible for getting themselves into danger in the first place.
Maybe the law should be changed, but with the current law what he did was legally OK. Morally... that is a different question.

Yeah, that’s what I was alluding to in the other thread. The charges that were brought against him didn’t have concrete evidence to back them up and relied on disproving self defense rather than proving intent, something immediately torpedoed by their chief witness anyway. His acquittal shouldn’t really be a surprise to anyone who followed the case.

That's actually insulting to dumb assholes to associate him with them.
Also I don't think anyone is surprised at the acquittal but no doubt for completely different reasons.

It definitely feels icky to say that this was the right decision legally, but courts have to go with the evidence they're given. :/

It's just the whole thing behind it, the owning of the libs, the cheering of an underage vigilante as a patriot and a hero, the optics of another white guy being giving a slap on the wrists and using that alpha male stance of going in with an AR rifle to a zone where he was not required and believing himself above and in tandem with the law and having an outcome which confirms all of his beliefs. All of it is fucking despicable and we all know despite the talk of being under threat and self defense and the interpretation of the law, if this was a black kid the outcome would have been massively different.

Yeah, turning him into some kind of folk hero is really fucking unseemly. Culture war has always been a thing, but celebrating someone who literally killed people is a pretty big step up.

I'm not going to spend long in this thread, but in my opinion self defence will always be an inalienable right, and if he's surrounded and attacked by low life's and rioters then he has every right to defend himself.
He was attacked. Their rights are subsequent to his rights. Actually nah, who gives a fuck about their rights. Not that judge and jury thank God.

This. That most of the rhetoric is now leaning toward "it's hardly surprising he got off scott free" after what he did just makes the whole thing even more fucked up. Gah, I'm tired
