Are we about to suffer another recession, caused by another US bank going tits-up? I finally invested in some stocks, and every time I invest in anything it immediately goes tits up, so the odds are high.

Does anyone have an IRL friend who got into crypto? I had one who wanted talk about trading all the time, and I was like, ha ha no, this is a pyramid scheme, for god’s sake don’t put money into it. He remained keen to put the money he makes from his shit job into it though. I haven’t had the heart to ask him if he lost his life savings in that recent collapse.

I have a friend who would preach the divinity of Crypto. When are you getting into it? Why aren't you investing? What's wrong with it? Since the massive crash I've barely heard a peep about it from him. He's a vegan now. Do you hate animals? Where's your moral line? Can you not empathise with animals?

About 10 years ago a mate who ran a computer repair shop, after leaving his job, had a machine just mining for bitcoin. I never really understood it but his rationale was that it wasn't really costing him much and he'd just flip it. He was never a "crypto bro" but just understood the IT side.
Think he made a couple of grand and then moved on because he was wary about it being a bubble.

Not an evangelist, but I know (used to work with) a guy who bought a load of Bitcoin way back when. He cashed out his original stake when it got to about 30k, iirc. So he was in pretty good profit and everything else was just playing with house money.

Maybe I should buy stocks in GB News.. but I worry about the opposite result.
Maybe it's not: I buy stuff. Stuff goes down. Maybe it's: I buy stuff. Things go bad.

A few people in my last job were putting every spare bit of money they had into crypto before I left, so I dread to think how badly they got fucked.
I bought a bit during a dip a few years ago and doubled whatever I put in, but thankfully had the sense not to keep chasing that dream, and just paid off some of my mortgage instead of pouring my life savings into crypto.

I have a friend who put a few quid in bitcoin when it was first a thing. Think he sold them when they became worth a few hundred pounds. If he had of held onto them until a few years later they would have been worth 10s of thousands.

Lots of stock prices up X% in Y timeframe = good, I guess.

Are we about to suffer another recession, caused by another US bank going tits-up? We didn't have to suffer a recession last time. We were told about an orgy of public spending, which never happened and then the debts of the private banks (or gambling debts) were just added to the public debt. It was a bizarre way of handling it. The gamblers were bailed out and the costs were passed on to the rest of us, that's basically what happened in 2008.

Lots of stock prices up X% in Y timeframe = good, I guess. Eh, not really. Bank stocks were down, not in a run in a bank sense but traders imagine they'll be making less profit, due to figuring out the lower yield on government bonds that took down SVB. The various tech stocks have gone back up due to laying off a fuck load of staff, because they're expecting times to be quite tough and profits lower. It's just traders had already priced in shit, and they went up due to "shit but less overheads". Stock markets aren't usually good indicators of economic health.

That’s my point. Fella up there had posted a picture of a sea of green and said ‘No’.

I thought that was un-ironic, when actually we're definitely going through shit times. I may have misunderstood.

Yeah, likely to be indicted in at least one of his cases next week. Secret Service coordinating with DA’s office. Even FOX is reporting without much shock. Long time coming.

Ugh, it's for the New York porn star payoff thing. I was hoping for something more... I dunno, substantial. Like the election tampering thing in Georgia.
Oh well, small victories. But it's going to make him even more annoying, just you wait.

But it's going to make him even more annoying, just you wait. There was a big development in the Special Counsel investigation regarding obstruction of justice and mishandling of classified materials too. A judge forcing one of Trump's lawyers to testify in front of grand jury as he has enough evidence to show a crime was committed. And news out of a second phone call from Trump pressuring an official in the Georgia investigation too. Does feel like there was a big jump in the walls closing in, but no doubt it will drag out for a long time yet.
