I can't believe that the reason for that shift was due to a lack of primary or interview-dodging. Who's applying that sort of level-headed rationale and then going for Trump instead? People didn’t neccesarily vote for Trump instead, Democrat voters didn’t turn up so an abstention will also shift the arrow to the right

Sadly trump winning does affect people in the UK - The UK gov has to lick trump's button mushroom and not go against him or he will start raising tariffs (only if the UK was in some strong Union of somekind, like western european one, where we can trade without issues)
- Environment: Trump will go back on anything that helps the environmental wellbeing of the planet. More coal burning maybe
- Gaza - Sure trump will support whatever IDF does, with Biden at least there he started to call out for restraint, nothing like that with Trump or Vance. Protestors will be on the streets of the UK, blaming all Jews and causing problems
- Sure Trump will support any racist US police officer/sheriff type in the next police brutality. Sure racists will be embolden with his victory, you saw this in 2016 with trump winning- More protests over here
-Weaker NATO if the fat orange cunt turd tries to pull out of NATO. I think he will do whatever putin tells him. The EU is really weak (best they can do is send a strongly worded letter, how disappointed they are with you by the Hans Brix puppet) and UK is on its own really
Also I have Ukrainian friends at work and fucking sucks Ukraine will suffer when trump pulls American weapons (the republican filth stopped weapons going to Ukraine under Biden's presidency and Ukraine suffered
Nothing I can do but next 4 years are going to be rough on the world

It does again reinforce the idea that single-issue voters are far far far more common than people think. "person X didn't do/support y, therefore I will not vote and let Hitler take power" really does seem to be the catalyst here.

How has CanadaLand taken the news? A shrug and out for more moose hunting? There’s a bit of concern, it’ll have an affect here - US is by far the biggest export destination and Trump’s talking up tariffs, but that’s nothing new over his last term. Mostly it plays really nicely for the Conservatives here, ramp up border control for all the US illegals who are going to try coming here etc, immigration is a big topic right now. We had a near miss in the BC elections a few weeks ago. Normally a strongly liberal territory, California of the North, only just squeaked in against a guy campaigning to bring back plastic straws. Last BC election the Dems had 57 seats to Conservatives 0, this time round it’s 47-44

Vaccines and bird flu is my concern. It's kicking off in the US dairy farms, there are human cases in farm workers and it just got into pigs (outside the farm system). The people watching the situation have already said the US isn't doing enough, so this is how the next pandemic happens when it eventually jumps into human-to-human transmission. Look up Rick Bright on Twitter.

The full on genocide in Gaza hasn't been met with any real resistance anyway. Which I’m pretty sure will turn out to be a major reason for lower Dem turnout. I’m curious about this because my assumption is that the US on both sides is very pro-Israel and given the margins of Trump’s win, would opposition to Israel really suppress the Dem vote that significantly? Maybe in some areas or communities, but across the board?

Was browsing the Fishbowl for my company and it was startling to see the gloating. It’s certainly treated as a zero-sum game by some.

Maybe in some areas or communities, but across the board? It's one factor out of many. Things like Kamala being rushed through as the nominee and people feeling like Biden was ambushed is still strong too. But the Gaza thing is more than just being pro-Palestine/pro-Israel, the muted and mixed responses (limited aid to Palestinians while supplying Israel with the weapons that makes the aid necessary, while occasionally going "oh dear that's a bit much" when there's an attack) and lack of general effort for ceasefire rankled both sides.

Hopefully democrats can rebuild and find someone who can win against Vance (it could be trump again despite the 2 term limit, sure he mumbled he wanted to get rid of that and have him permanent president)

I genuinely don’t think Trump will survive a full term, talking natural causes here.
I have a semi-hope that this is like the last Tory administration, the one where people get what they deserve and then see the consequences, pivoting back next time. One thing I’ve learned growing up is that most people basically don’t develop past their teens mentally and teens don’t learn until the leopard eats their face.
That’s if we don’t get gerrymandering-max to ensure an eternal Trumpian dynasty, which he’s basically said he wants

They need to build something new. They’re seen as the party of the rich celebs and big business. Trump has manoeuvred the Republicans from the party of the rich to the man in the street.

I wonder if Biden will initiate a fuck-ton of laws to really hobble Trump. It's a common tactic at the end of an administration. Probably won't work as the Supreme Court will bow to whatever Trump wants to do anyway.

Typical turnout of conspiracy theory idiots turning out on the channel 4 coverage who believe they won because they fought back against schools being forced to instal kitty litter trays in bathrooms. Absolute dickheads.
For those who aren’t aware, makeshift bathrooms that are similar to kitty litter were stalled in some schools, but not to accommodate students who “identified as cats”. It was in case the school went into lockdown due to an active shooter and bathrooms were inaccessible. Everything you need to know about modern America right there in that anecdote.

Biden should just shout "I'm the President of the United States and as part of my responsibilities I do this to protect the Republic" then shoot Trump in the face.
Thanks SCOTUS.

Stats are coming in saying Trump lost 4m voted compared to 2020 and Harris almost 15m compared to Biden. That's insane. She LOST lost. I don't think this is true. If you look at the swing states where they've fully counted 100% turnout looks identical. They've only counted half the votes in California so far, so there's 10s of millions votes to still come in and add to those totals.

I wonder how many Trump talking points Badenoch will adopt over the next couple of years and how quickly they start being accepted as “legitimate concerns” by journalists who’ll trot them out in every interview with a government minister before the government ends up implementing a version of them in order to be seen to be doing something
(immigrations, trans rights etc)

Also Linkedin is still a cesspool
