Watching a bit of Sky News, and their exit poll had 35% of voters with a primary concern around the "state of democracy". Hopefully that's the risk of Trump, rather than "mah freedoms" Don't know how much this really tells us, unfortunately. Both sides are accusing the other of being the end of democracy (one side has slightly more evidence of it than the other). Similarly, economics was slightly higher in the poll, but that could be because people are feeling they have no money now or they could find Trump's ideas on the economy completely bonkers.

Hopefully that's the risk of Trump, rather than "mah freedoms" BBC have a breakdown of it. Among those who voted for Kamala Harris: Almost six in 10 people ranked the state of democracy as their number one issue, according to our US news partner CBS That was followed by abortion, which was picked by about one in five Just over one in 10 chose the economy Among Donald Trump voters: Half said the economy was their number one issue One in five said immigration was top Just over one in 10 people said they cared most about the state of democracy

An American friend of mine is literally in tears this evening convinced Trump will win.
They live in Central America from a town nobody has heard of. Their fear is outside of the big population centres, a vast amount of America is made up communities like this. A town where people often don't travel far, have no interest in geopolitics or even travelling abroad and where racism is open. To these people Democrats fronted by a black women represent all that is corrupt and wrong with the world.
Trump on the other hand is deeply flawed, but in my friends view seen as the embodiment of the American dream. "says it how it is" insults Europe and wears a red cap saying he loves America.. And that's enough.
Causing a grown adult to openly sob at what their country has become.
I hope for all our sakes their wrong.

Philadelphia have fired back in triplicate.
The Philadelphia Police Department told BBC Verify that they were not aware of what Trump was referring to. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner also published a response saying: "There is no factual basis whatsoever within law enforcement to support this wild allegation." The Republican City Commissioner in Philadelphia posted on X saying: "There is absolutely no truth to this allegation. It is yet another example of disinformation. Voting in Philadelphia has been safe and secure."

Seeing increasingly more states unwilling to tolerate the Tangerine's crap is really helping my anxiety...

Let me help ease your anxiety a bit more, he’ll also recycle his crap from last time , saying he was ahead and then the Democrats overtook him, trying to frame it as dodgy.
It’s basically because a load of red results come in first, then Democrat results come in later. His tiny brain can’t handle this

Half of trump voters vote on the economy eh? So the guy who is an expert in racking up debts and not making money is the financial genius they want in the top job?

I'm weirdly sanguine about it, as compared with the last couple of US elections at least. Even if Trump gets back, I don't think I'll be that stressed by it.

Fuckers going to do it isn't he.. Please relax, the states that have been called traditionally finish counts quickly, some states have been called with literally zero votes counted somehow, just because, and the biggest blue counties in Georgia are dealing with bomb threats that have delayed their count. The Guardian's map is currently showing TEXAS as leaning BLUE FFS (cough, was, but he's winning by like 1.5% currently), this is far from over...

The issue for the states if Trump wins is the Supreme Court probably, there's not much way back if the republicans get their way because the SC is a cheat code for them to just do whatever they like. Trump himself is old and incredibly lazy, so it'll be a weekend at Bernies situation if he gets in until he finally pops it, at which court the SC will just fuck the country for the next 50 years or so.

Waaay closer than I thought/hoped, but it’s the same old story of the Dem leaning counties in swing states taking longer to count.

It would be nice if someone could win by more than razor thin 1% margins for a change.

What have people found to be the best live coverage so far? Watching BBC on YT, but seems a bit half-hearted.

I moved to PBS and they're analysing why Harris lost with the odd 'of course it's not over uet' half-heartedly thrown in.
