Trump left this landmine for Biden and it's done it's job. Criticism from everywhere and now intense media scrutiny.
He hasn't done himself any favours in interviews either. Add in Covid cases rising and a slow down in the economy it's going to be a tough few months.
If things don't start to pick up next year and provided Trump doesn't expire he will have a shot in 2024.

I just watched John Oliver's Last Week Tonight and he made the point that the US went into Afghanistan only thinking about American interests, and the mistake they're making while leaving is again only thinking about American interests. Thing is it's not an issue that's going to resonate with the typical voter. In fact Fox us already talking about a refugee crisis if they let at-risk Afghans settle in the USA. Don't see how the right wing are going to capitalise on hundreds of thousands of Afghans having the rug(!) pulled out from under them by the US. It's the left wing that'll fall upon themselves over it. Same old same old. A kerfuffle on Twitter doesn't mean jack shit in an election. Twenty years funnelling billions of dollars to the kleptocrats in the Afghan parliament, and basically running arms to the Taliban via proxies in the Afghan military. |

Putin is very friendly with the tailban now and its funny how trump pushed for this shitty deal (same with the pull out of troops in syria as Putin is best friends with the Assad government as he wanted to slaughter the kurds). It was no win for biden, stay and he is "war monger" and as he left fox news types are attacking him, while the GOP quietly takes down the "historic bigly peace deal" off their website. In one way I'm glad their anti-tailban resistance over there but this resistance groups always tend to bite the west in the arse. They knew they wouldn’t win. It was a disruption and a way to continue the “rigged election” lie, which was already being claimed even before voting had begun. The GOP are going to claim it as a victory because it wasn’t a complete landslide and point to it going “look, even the bluest state in the land isn’t sure about their party”

I don't even think they're going to use it as an excuse to do anything, because actually coming up with ideas would require effort. To me it feels like they're just signalling and posturing, not stating things that they actually believe in.

Except it didn’t, and in fact they managed to widen the gap by some 300 votes in Biden’s favor.
