"Obviously, that joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or our campaign, and I think it is sad that the media will pick up on one joke that was made by a comedian, rather than the truths that were shared by the phenomenal list of speakers that we had," said a Trump spokesperson.
Yeah, those phenomenal list of speakers that, er, called Hillary Clinton a 'sick bastard', debated Harris' racial identity and called her the 'Anti-Christ'. But yeah, the 'joke' about Puerto Rico is the thing that 'doesn't reflect the views of President Trump'. But everything else does. Saying that, now we all know Muskrat is a Dark Gothic MAGA, WTF that means.
I'm going to Texas for a long weekend to see friends on Thursday. I'm starting to wonder if I've made a terrible mistake and what the atmosphere is going to be like on the run-up to Tuesday...

Trump: ‘I’m not a Nazi’
How bad do things need to be for you feel the need to state it.

He could say "actually I am a nazi" and people would still fall over themselves to vote for him.

He could say "actually I am a nazi" and people would still fall over themselves to vote for him. His voteshare would probably increase at this point.

If Biden had used the word “rubbish” we wouldn’t be in this mess.

Fucks sake. It’s going to be this year’s “deplorables”.

Fucks sake. It’s going to be this year’s “deplorables”. Nah, just like Clinton, he was bang on. This was a presidential rally where the racist jokes were interspersed with threats of violence. They have long lost any right to be outraged whatsoever.

He could say "actually I am a nazi" and people would still fall over themselves to vote for him. Something I find amusing about the far right is the whole shrodingers nazi thing. They don't think the Nazis were bad, they think Hitler was good, but at the same time their opponents are the real Nazis and also the Nazis were socialists and socialists are bad.

That’s my point: there’s a big hoo-hah over it, and it distracts from whatever the criminal is up to next.

That’s my point: there’s a big hoo-hah over it, and it distracts from whatever the criminal is up to next. Only if they let it. JD Vance was just saying that he was sick of people making a big deal out of every little comment. If the Democrats let themselves get drawn into the same sorts of hand-wringing that the "deplorables" comment brought, then they are idiots.

I totally agree with Biden's latest "gaffe", but it probably would've been better if he hadn't made it.
Then again, the whole, "When they go low, we go high" approach didn't exactly work in 2016, so maybe taking the gloves off is a better approach? I dunno!

Calling Puerto Rico an island of garbage: OK
Calling people who think Puerto Rico is an island of garbage garbage: wait, that's too far.

Yeah I mean they know what they're doing and it's a very tired performative form of politics that's old as time. I have no issue with Trump supporters and enablers being called what they are; garbage. After 8 years you know what the whole thing stands for.

I can sort of buy that there were benign (-ish) reasons for voting Trump in 2016 - those who felt disenchanted with the entire political system, and wanted to support an anti-establishment candidate - but that's no longer the case, and hasn't been for years.
You know what he's about; you know what you'll get if he wins; and you know what you're endorsing if you vote for him.
If you're still going to back him in light of the above, then don't get all pissy when someone calls you garbage.

For me, the USA is a country where half the country have watched what happens on Jan 6 and felt that it was justified…
The USA is not the leading light in the world any more and shouldn’t be treated as such. Before I die I hope someone pulls the Statue of Liberty down, because it’s a meaningless trinket.

I understand how someone like Aldrin would have a different viewpoint to basically everyone else on it, but choosing the President based on their approach to space really strikes me as the height of privilege.

Ignore the space part and look at where he starts talking about the presidency requiring "clarity in judgment, deciveness and calm under pressure". Apparently Donald Trump meets those requirements.

My patience is wearing away with this quite quickly now. I can't imagine how bad it is being in the polarised states hearing about it all the time.
This american election shit takes sooo fucking long. Get on with it ffs and put us out of our misery whether a common sense candidate gets in, or the criminal mentalist.

I basically dismiss out of hand any endorsement of Trump that fails to properly address the gaping chasms in his character, so for me, the space bit is the only notable bit.
