The bullshit that's on the way whatever the result will make people wistfully long for the days of hanging chads. A phrase that's got a very different meaning since 2000. Nowadays it's "hanging Mikes" (Pence)

I'm going by the gremmi's neighbours methodology and predicting a landslide for kamala. It’s more reliable than Nate Silver But yes, I know it’s anecdotal, but I simply do not see the real world enthusiasm for Trump that was there in 2016 and 20.

This was a lovely read in the guardian, an interview from the latest trump rally….
“He made me cry,” Miller said. “I cried when he was speaking about making changes. You know, closing the border, making changes. If Kamala wins we’re so screwed, because she can’t make up her mind about anything. It just made me cry because he’s giving up so much. He doesn’t have to do this for us. Like, you know what I mean. He has all the money, but he is still getting shot at, and people saying horrible things about him. But he’s doing it because he wants to make changes for America, and it was just so emotional.”
So. Why leave?
“I’m actually leaving early because my phone is dying and I have a Tesla so I can’t get in. It’s really upsetting, because it meant a lot to be here, and I just can’t get in my car.”

Lol.
the 'Kamala can't make up her mind' thing reminds me of Jon Stewart's recent video on how Trump is the opposite of what his supporters think he is. The trump stuff comes later, but the Kamala stuff is from 1.39 to about 10min

"We wanted to see that, see it in real life. We want to see it live,” he said. But, you’re not staying for the whole thing? “He’s got to go to school tomorrow. And he’s gotten to the part now where, I mean, we’ve seen enough of these. We kind of know how it’s going to finish. We just wanted to see it live. You know?”

"Kamala gives combatative interview with Fox. Trump dances silently for 40 minutes in front of crowd at rally.
Why is Harris campaign in trouble?"

Disheartening to see all the bookies currently have Trump as the odds-on favourite to win.

Clinton was the massive favourite to win in 2016, it's meaningless.

Polls/bookies seem to mostly be doing two things: 1) (intentionally) boosting Trump to make it seem like the race is close for ratings and/or to legitimise MAGAts crying "stolen" when (hopefully) Harris dusts him and 2) (unintentionally) making sure Dems don't grow complacent come voting time

But on the subject of money pointing to winning odds...
$38.98MM was raised on actblue yesterday. This is the most money raised on the platform since the night of the Harris-trump debate (9/10), and 7th-best day since Biden dropped out. Overall, it was the 12th-best day since September 2020.

Polls are fucked by the sheer amount of people unwilling to tell pollsters how they're going to vote, but the pollsters are unwilling to admit it.

Yeah, also completely skewed by issues that pollsters claim are sorted out, but aren't really. IE, lots of polling still done by door knockers and cold calls, and only Boomers respond to that in volume. Gen X and younger usually don't answer doors to strangers (especially with the rise of doorbell cams) and don't respond to unknown numbers texting or calling.

You have to assume that polling companies tilt the channels to match regional demographics, surely?
If not, I’m going to start a polling company and absolutely obliterate the incumbents.
Edit: I mean, they have response rates per channel that they can tie to the demographic profile of the target so the rest is just tedious normalisation.

They do to the extent that they can, but if people simply aren’t responding to polls or not even being honest in their responses there’s almost nothing you could do.
Hence why there’s all sorts of shenanigans like “this person indicated they voted for Trump in 2016 so we'll assume they’re voting for him again this year”

The part of this with Dave Bautista in particular (around 15 minutes in) should be played everywhere

Lol. I avoided that video as Jimmy Kimmel annoys me, but the Bautista bit is definitely worth watching. (or in the wrestling thread )

It's rather odd he can bang on on the behalf of 'his good friend' but no one else can do anything like that.
Why can't the frog-faced prick do the decent thing and just fucking die?

Education didn't work for Trump so killing the department is probably fine.
