The bar is now so low that saying your opponent is stupid and hates her country is seen as turning a corner.

I was going to say that the whole thing seemed too heavily sarcastic to be serious, but then...
The fuck do you mean "with some merit"? Is an idea that should so obviously have been implemented decades ago (never mind servers being paid a livable wage and not having to rely on tips anymore) suddenly Trump's property to "steal"? Is everyone that has been screaming about it for so long a thief now? Did he take out a patent and trademark on the policy? Wtf???

It must be really difficult for Republicans that Trump keeps saying the quiet part loud.

Apparently the latest from team Trump is that he's "better looking" than Harris.
First of all, ew, no, second of all this is an election race Donny, not one of your teen beauty pageants you creeped on underage girls at, get with it...

That after saying how beautiful she looked on the front of Time last week. They're worried that line got a lot of traction and are trying to subvert it, bananas as that is.

It will be nice to not have this specific brand of bullshit once Trump is gone. Dickheads will exist forever, of course, but hopefully their bullshit will be less stupid and annoying.

Maybe if he doesn't win this time the republicans will pivot and put in a serious adult.

I've no doubt that he will want to run again in 2028, assuming that he's not dead/in jail. But he's already showing cognitive decline, so hopefully people won't continue buying what he's selling in 4 years

The US media in particular have long seemed complicit in making Trump seem normal. He's good for business.
See also the BBC and Farage over here. They're basically responsible for his entire career.

Project 2029 will somehow be worse than 2025 if he loses and runs again.
Hopefully he's not around by then.

He will be the oldest candidate ever in 2029, 83. He is already losing the plot quite quickly so I can't see it happening.

I can DEFINITELY see him trying to run in 2028 and people still wanting to vote for him. They don't care.

Technically he's currently the oldest candidate ever to run for President. Biden would have been, but you're not officially the candidate until you're anointed at the convention, and that's going to be Harris now.

Hopefully the MAGAts keep writing in Trump in future elections instead of voting properly, will make for some nice Nov 6th (or whenever they finish the counts) mornings

Unless you're a disaster capitalist, the sort of instability created by this brand of politics isn't good for business. The GOP and its backers went along with The Trump train, thinking they could control him and his cult. The Republicans are stuck now, they've split their own base and will have to ride this out until it crashes. DeSantis was their attempt to take control of the situation. Business started down a road which they didn't know where it lead to. Business in the US and UK, as well as Putin's oligarch backers, have to be seeing the error they've made. Some of them are maximising short term profit, but long term, the economic effects can only be negative. No matter how little tax you're paying.

I didn't accuse them of long term thinking, to be fair. They just saw he was good for ratings so stuck him everywhere.

In terms of Trumps brain leaking out of his ears, I don't think it really matters. It's never really mattered what he says, he's always been practically illeterate. He's been full of word salad for a decade+. They don't care - all that matters is that he represents an ability to be racist with repurcussion.

He's been full of word salad for a decade+. They don't care - all that matters is that he represents an ability to be racist with repurcussion. You might be surprised, actually. He's always been a bullshit firehose, true, but in 2016 and 2020 he also had the energy and a certain kind of twisted, icky "charisma" that riled the crowd up. Nowadays that's failing him too, there's no power behind the rambling anymore (I'd say no conviction, but he's got plenty of those...). Biden fumbled hard in the debate mainly because he had even less energy than Trump, and in his recent rallies the crowd was leaving halfway, yawning, little to no chants... And that in very safely red areas where any crowd would've been made up of professional Kool-Aid drinkers. He's barely even campaigning, something unthinkable for a grifter and show-off like him (who also needs to win to muzzle the legal hounds on his ass, you'll recall). I don't know if it's the shooting actually getting to him privately (the "Fight!" photoshoot crap was pure adrenaline, and he's supposedly been watching the videos of it over and over as if he has PTSD, according to insiders), Kamala's surge sending him reeling, the decades of drugs, bad diet and little to no exercise coupled with aging and his father's mental legacy finally coming home to roost, or all of the above, but it really seems like something is finally, irreversibly crumbling in him. And if so, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Seems like a mixture of fatigue from all the legal cases recently (where he actually behaves himself, in court at least) and inescapable old age decline.

He behaved himself in court because he was too busy sleeping to actually do anything though... And he still got hit with like a dozen gag orders from the judge (not that they did anything with the judge playing it as safe as he could to give zero ammo for appeals, but I'd like to think they'll mattter at least a little bit during sentencing...)

The craziest thing is that folks like these guys are the Deepstate. The one's actively trying to strangle democracy from behind the scenes. It has been and always will be projection with these nutjobs.
