This one is gonna be expensive... Scorn is cheaper on steam currently than on gog by a few Euros. Papetura on the other hand is cheaper on gog.
Diablo 2 Resurrected is also currently on sale, but it hasn't dropped further down yet (67 % off).

I've probably reached critical mass with my backlog but might pick up Victor Vran (75% off) as I have a hankering for an ARPG and I spent too much time with Last Epoch (which is excellent) recently to reinstall it just yet.

A disappointing sale at a glance. I was thinking of double dipping on Spider-Man games and play those again ahead of the new one (don't actually own Miles on PS, but played a borrowed copy). Getting both still is quite a bit over £50 though, which is quite a lot for a double dip.
Also hoped to get the old Final Fantasy games in their pixel remastered form, but they don't seem to be on sale at all.

They put Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels at 45. They are idiots.
There are so many warhammer games that were close to great, and then got abandoned with major balance/ai issues. I'm kinda tempted by Battlefeet Gothic 1, but it has those issues. And by Mordheim, but it has those issues. And by Necromunda, but it apparently has those issues.
Or they just have repetitive missions and needed more content (Sanctus Reach, Adeptus Titanicus, etc..)
Interesting they rate Space Hulk Tactics so high compared to the other Space Hulk adaptions.

And by Mordheim, but it has those issues. looks like I last played Mordheim in 2016, so memory more than hazy, but I did put 113 hours into it. And from memory, yep, it has issues: frequently awful AI choices, some poor balance and pacing in the story missions, and repetitive maps in regular missions.... but, still apparently charming enough that I put 113 hours into it
reading around it seems necromunda is regarded as "mordheim with even worse AI", but I like the setting more, so we'll see
and on space hulk, god only knows, there are so many, and all - as you say - hit at best "almost but not quite"
hope for a future Total Warhammer 40k, tho ikit claw dlc plays quite 40k-ish

Cyanide) are just lazy and expect people to repeatedly pay for their flawed output. Its depressing, because plenty of other teams could do much more with those materials.

Yeah whoever organises this internally at GW just needs to be better informed about gaming I reckon.
Do a deal with Creative Assembly who have the Total war track record, turns out banging. Previously working with Relic, worked out really well. Well except that Relic can't make good games anymore apparently. The Rogue Trader crpg may turn out well as at least Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous got good reviews, so they probably know what they're doing?
If they want some turn based tactics games like Mordheim or Necromunda, go talk to to Harebrained Schemes or maybe Firaxis... Bigger strategy game? Maybe go talk to Paradox (or Firaxis again). RPG? Obsidian maybe. Etc. Etc.

It's a shame as I think DoW3 was probably the beginning of the end for them.
Anyway I went proper late teens and early 20s so I got Max Payne, Dark Messiah, Portal and Resi 5. I was thinking C&C Remastered as it's like under 2 quid I think. I was also hankering after a bit RTS fun with World in Conflict but forgot that I actually bought that off GOG ages ago.
Oh I've just seen that Max Payne 1 and 2 together were the same price, that's weird. It doesn't offer you that deal if you go on the Max Payne page. Hopefully I can get a refund.

Tbh, GW themselves don't exactly feel like bastions of consumer concern. I expect that they may be perfectly happy churning our regular dreck at low cost to ride whatever trend might scrape a few more bucks their way.
That they turned BB into a live service model with no apparent thought for how that model would work suggests that, in any case.

Might just be me but I doubt GW were overly involved in the live service model; I'd suspect they just left the license with Cyanide thinking they knew what they were doing after the previous 2.

I don't think that's really the case. A lot of the devs who make these GW games seem very into the source material and want to make good games. They get 80% of the way there, but they just don't have the budget to get the rest of the way.
And then the games aren't really big enough to make it financially viable for them to keep churning out free patches, so they have to either go for dozens of DLC addons, or move on to version 2.
I can imagine a lot of the studios being really hyped when they first get to make a GW game, and then totally burned out by the end.
I mean, you'd have to be a fan to work on something like Dakka Squadron, but really how big is the audience? It's fated to an early-access style release and then abandonment.

It's the same thing with a lot of development. You can get 90% of the way there pretty quickly and painlessly, the last 10% occupies most of your project time and is where all the polish goes in that really elevates things. It's the difference between a functional AI and an actually good AI. It takes a lot of unseen work that developers don't always properly account for when setting out on a project.
Or just getting the feel of an FPS game perfect rather than fine.

You may both be right. I suppose there's no way to know where a particular decision comes from. Most of the time I assume these annoying practices around monetary systems aren't really coming from the people making the game.
Plus, it's really only Blood Bowl that regularly annoys me. In that case with their third game they've moved to the live service model as mentioned, plus released the game for purchase as if it didn't have a seasonal cost model, charged extra for a couple of days early access that didn't work, released the game when it didn't work and then spent three months letting it sit there rotting while they tried to fix it. None of that really speaks to the quality of the game itself; which is pretty frustrating, and is kind of what I mean when I say I think other teams of the scale of cyanide (or even less) could maybe do better with it. I'd kill for a decent blood-bowl-esque alternative that did what I'd like it to, but it's kind of stuck with this one developer (who I believe originally got the game because they made an alternative that GW sued them for).

The Italian campaign was a bit disappointing because of an AI that seemed completely anaemic, but there were a lot of good ideas there. I didn't play too much of the multiplayer, but seemed pretty great to me. The worst that could be said is that it wasn't that much different to previous games in the series, but as there isn't much in the way of RTS games nowadays that doesn't seem much of an issue.

I think I'd say the uninspiring campaign was a big issue for me, the OG campaign was brilliant and I didn't feel that challenge and variety of missions that I got from that game. 3 is very very easy and the less said about the North Africa campaign the better.

I've still not bothered. But as I'll only ever bother playing single player the campaign being meh isn't a selling point. DoW3 also appears to have been designed with single player last.
I blame StarCraft 2. Fuck Blizzard.

GW’s strategy has always been to license out to pretty much anyone that wants to make something. It makes sense to build long term brand awareness and at no cost to themselves.
I’m sure one day they might aim for higher quality but it’s not doing them any harm right now.
