I had assumed that it was, but I'm slightly confused. The front page doesn't look halloweeny at least, but quite a few games are on offer.
Edit: But yeah, the usual breakdown...

None of my isthereanydeal alerts have triggered.
I shall try to ignore it...

No major discounts on my wishlisted stuff, thankfully - I'm trying to get to the end of the year with minimal spending.
But I'm here to pimp Monster Slayers at 89 cents! Definitely the best third-of-a-cup-of-coffee you'll spend this year! Marked 'Playable' on the Deck too; it's a perfect Deck game.

The shortcut on the store page to the Warhammer Franchise is currently broken, in that it claims up to zero % off, but when you click on it it does show you some discounts.

do recommend the Ascent btw, top twin stick shooter with amazing visuals. was (maybe is still) on gamepass, and I liked it so much I still bought it on steam at near enough full price (largely because the gamepass version was buggy as fuck at launch)

I'm mostly tempted by Read Dead Redemption 2 at sub 20 quid. Been holding buying it since release but that seems fair.

Big spender here.
Ended up splashing out on Half-life 2 and the expansions, just so I can try out a variety of mods at some point (with a few due next year, it seems).
Also got the original Flatout as it's still good fun and the physics are pretty good for a racing game of that age.
Does the winter sale typically offer deeper discounts over the autumn one?

This is probably a dumb question, but it's not really something I've had to wrangle with before.
If I want to play Portal 2 co-op with my kid, on 2 pcs in the same house, we're going to need 2 steam accounts and 2 copies of the game, ...right??
Until now I've only ever used the same steam account for all my games on both pcs.

They added a split screen mode to the PC version, if that's of any use to you, but yeah you'd need 2 copies unless you want to remote play in split screen to the other PC which seems pointless really in this case.

It's more the hassle of setting up a second Steam account with all the steamguard bollocks etc.. that i'm dreading. I'm tempted to get it on the Switch, which has splitscreen, but no cross-play apparently

I got another account and didn't have to set that stuff up, was a while ago when I had a second pc but sure its only needed for marketplace trading.

There used to be a 'post your steam sale haul' type thread back on RPS, which I mostly ignored because I never really bought much. But this year I've gone a bit crazy so I thought I'd post it anyway. Ta dah!
Deus Ex Thief 2 Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight Mysteries of the Sith Dishonored. ( <--- wanted something trendy and modern! )
For a grand total of about 3-4 quid, though I did buy a couple on Gamebillet to save a few pennies. Wouldn't want to be too spendy!

I recently watched the NoClip documentary about Crystal Dynamic. There was obviously lots of Tomb Raider talk, so that prompted me to pick them up in the Steam sale. Except, I grabbed the original Core games and Crystal's first trilogy rather than their silly Uncharted wannabe games.
I already owned all of these on physical disc, but they were mostly all about 50p each. Been playing Tomb Raider the first on Steam Deck despite it saying it is unsupported. Seems fine, expect cutscenes only playing the sound (just watching them on YouTube) and a couple of crashes during my 2-3 hours of play time. Have been really enjoying this jaunt through memory lane. Not played these original games in a very, very long time and absolutely loved them as a kid. Slightly surprising that no indie team has tried to make a modern equivalent of these, as there isn't anything quite like them now.
On a similar theme, I also grabbed Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine, Fate of Atlantis and Emperor's Tomb (by accident, as I actually thought it was Infernal Machine - don't think I ever played).

I think Proton GE might solve your cutscene issue.

I think Proton GE might solve your cutscene issue. Thanks. I'll check that out. Edit: well, that fixed the cutscenes... but the game itself became a slideshow. Oh well, can stick to watching the cutscenes online. Still amazing that it works nearly perfectly without any fiddling.

The days of getting all of my games on the cheap are over I think. Got weak and bought Cyberpunk among other things (Creeper World 4, Prey: Mooncrash, Strangeland, Cloudpunk and a few small ones).

TBH, the main reason I got them was that they've been on my wishlist for years, and every time there's a steam sale (so twice a week) I spend ages deciding whether I should buy them or not. I decided it was better to just get them and save myself the cognitive load.
Who knows, I might even play them.

Only bought one game via steam within the year. Dying Light 2 could be my path to a steam deck.

Doubt I'll stay up until after midnight on a school night just for a chance to win it.
Handy for night owls who would've been watching it anyway I guess.

I bought Need for Speed Heat for three quid.
That'll do.
Think the stream works out as 1am UK time. Guess I'll just stream it on my phone whilst I sleep.

Watch Dogs franchise up to 80% off on Steam (Doesn't include Legion because Ubisoft haven't done the necessary with it yet)

Bought a load of games I didn't get to this year, so keeping it simple for this sale. Currently have three cheapo items in my cart and am mulling over the Year 2 Pass for Snowrunner (on the Epic store, though I'm seized by an irrational urge to buy the whole shebang again on Steam).
Saw somebody saying elsewhere that you should buy something when it hits 75% off, or remove it from your wishlist (the idea being that you don't really want it) but I have 10 games that qualify and I can't commit to them yet.
Edit: Year 2 Pass is not eligible for the coupon so screw them.
