The year was 2017.
Having sunk many hours into Destiny 1, raiding with a great bunch of people I didn't know, and being alright at crucible, the sequel was day 1 purchase for me.
So I played the beginning few missions and was impressed with the emphasis on the story, but ultimately it was too much like Destiny 1 for me and I fell of fairly quickly.
Now in the space age of 2021, I thought it was time to try the PS5 version, as I was missing the grind. So after a few days of forgetting where I was and what I was doing, I called upon Google to remind help me find my way to the next mission, only to discover that they removed the campaign. I'm sure they had their reasons, but as someone who has no friends(lol) the lack of a campaign has killed my motivation to go back into Destiny 2.
So that's my story, it's not a happy one, but it's the only one I've got.

Campaigns are still there - but you'll need the expansions, including Shadowkeep and Beyond Light. As they're sunsetting Forsaken, I believe the content is being made available for free?

The main original campaign isn't there, though. Must be confusing as fuck to come back to the game and that + a chunk of the planets are just plain gone...
Forsaken is free in December, and is a great campaign, so definitely worth checking that out.
The other annoying thing is that there's no way to replay campaigns without deleting a character and recreating. I did that with my warlock before the original campaign went away, and think I've still got the Forsaken campaign to do on that character thankfully so will have to give it another run through before it goes away in Feb.

Ah yeah the Red War is gone, but there's still loads of campaign activity. Admittedly it's all fairly repetitive...

askew - it's a mix of PC and Xbox for me. No idea what my new Bungie username is though, think I added it a few pages back. If you're playing on your shiny new PC you should get the beyond light campaign for free next week with game pass (presumably a Windows store download though, so ugh!) Yeah, mostly on PC but can get it on the Xbox if need be: I synced up my characters from the off. Just as well I held off buying the expansions, but I do appreciate the try-before-you-buy approach to the core of the game.
I don't fancy downloading it all again though. I wonder if I can copy the files across from Steam…

Yeah both raids are staying. I can talk people through either, Shattered Throne is probably worth doing first if you've not done any raid at least as a sort of primer. LW is the hardest raid by far. And I can't remember how to do Riven Legit anymore 
Think the last time I ran LW at all was when there was the glitch that let you bring 12 people in.

I'm doing a Riven legit run tomorrow night and I can't wait tbh, it's so much fun. Finally cracking it was an all time moment in the series for me. I'm really regretting not farming 1KV in all of the years I had before they decided to turn it into a fucking death ray though. Hopefully it drops.
I really hope the Witch Queen raid takes inspiration from Last Wish in terms of scale. We need another biggy.

Well this is a dick move. Loaded up the game for the first time since completing a first mission on Europa, and it’s launched me into this Osiris mission full of magical shielded warlock cunts. And I am completely underpowered and with zero heavy ammo.

Festival of the Lost is back, and it does look a little more interesting than usual. At the very least, the basic activity is less annoying than the Haunted Forest.
I could see it getting old soon. But probably not to soon for me to miss the relevant triumphs.

Yeah, the haunted sectors are pretty fun, although it seems to stop spawning headless ones when you get to 10 kills even if there's loads of time on the clock.
Kind of annoying that you need to constantly dip into other activities to get the currency, but I guess that's classic Bungie...

I feel this game has gotten its tentacles in me: enjoying the Beyond Light campaign and Gambit matches.

You need to be 1320, though presumably you also need some decent gear. There are Overload and Unstoppable champions, plus Match Game with all three elements included, no radar, and locked loadout. Surprisingly it's not even the Champions that get me. Those damn shielded chieftains hit way too hard.
At a glance though, for a fireteam it shouldn't be that difficult. I mean, it looks basically between Hero and Legend Nightfall, only without as many champions. For a comparison, I can finish Hero Nightfalls without any issues, but I'd never manage to solo one. So yeah.
Edit: tried changing my weapons and now I'm doing a bit better. Not sure it will be enough to get past the boss though.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna need the help. The second beacon doesn't have nearly as much cover as the first, and once the snipers start appearing, it's a pain.

Shields aren't actually a big problem, I have all the elements I need. But champions mean my choices are somewhat restricted, and those chieftains hit pretty hard. Plus, there's the extra grenades modifier for the enemies, and oh boy, do they rain on you. I think a decent player should be able to solo it relatively easily, but I'm more like a middling one. |
