It's the inherent problem with hiding PvE rewards behind a PvP structure. The only reason Crucible feels any different is because you can sometimes offset the misery with your own performances with it being entirely possible to win games almost on your own sometimes in a way that just isn't possible in Gambit.
Unfortunately we're stuck with this halfway house we've got, as the PvP modes aren't popular enough in their own right to get rid of bounties and quest steps that feed into PvE rewards. They need those 3 games a week players to keep the playerbase fed.

Proclaiming this as my favourite Crucible gun ever now having used it for this IB cycle. Thing absolutely shreds people, heating up is an amazing perk. High Cal rounds make all the difference with flinching people.

They need those 3 games a week players to keep the playerbase fed. I think this is it, and it's a similar problem I had with Overwatch. Your ability, individually to make a difference to the outcome of a match in Gambit is nonexistant unless you're a great invader. In Crucible, even if you lose you can still have a great round and feel like you did great. In Gambit, you can lose and even if you personally did well, it doesn't really feel like it because what did you do, kill adds? Meh.

High Cal rounds make all the difference with flinching people. This is the weapon I've taken the highest percentage of deaths to in Crucible for quite some time now. I've got one I haven't bothered upgrading yet, I really must give it a try.

For Crucible you want Heating Up in that third slot, it's incredible. Snapshot or Multikill in the last is the best PvP perk, or High Impact Reserves if not.
High Caliber rounds makes a huge different in slot 2 - you'll flinch people like crazy.

Yeah, agreed on Gambit. I was the invader and all it did is prolong us losing as I'd stop them collecting motes but we still weren't doing enough our end. Least the three games were quick!

I'm trying to farm Servant Leader drops atm so it's frustrating AF. It doesn't even feel good doing it to the other team, I had 4 4-kill invasions back to back during my lunch break and it just feels like I'm being a cunt.

I just don't bother with Gambit anymore, not even for quests. That's made my game time a lot better. The Crucible is fine and I actually look forward to it, except when the Iron Banner quest forces me to use specific weapons which usually means I just die all the time.
I still haven't found a better weapon than SUROS Regime for PvP. It's greatly improved my KDA, even though I still generally get killed more often than I kill (with assists my KDA is around 1.25, but then again it's brought down by all those annoying quests and catalysts).

Is anyone else dealing with intermittent connections issues? I get booted from the game with error code weasel and then the login screen tells me there's no internet connection. When switching to the Microsoft Store on Xbox, I can browse it just fine, so the error message is wrong. The Xbox is connected via ethernet connection, and can surf the net on my tablet as well.

Had a few messages that bungie.net is responding slowly when I tried to move gear around with DIM, and it took ages to get to the tower just now.

I should have checked the catalyst requirements before picking up the Rat King. How am I supposed to do this on my own?

Sure, but finishing a single dungeon or raid is one thing. You could get on a LFG room, find someone to help you, and that's it.
But asking people to join me for a 1000 kills session with a weapon that nobody uses anymore? I'm not gonna do that.

The thing is with rat king is that the cat requirements make sense given that it's only worth using when other people are using it anyway.
FWIW the best way to do it is just find an LFG. Some people in my discord did it by just spending an hour or so in the thrallway in shattered throne blasting trash mobs. Me, I just sharded the gun the moment I got it. Never even fired it.

I quite liked it for PVP whenever I had to use a sidearm for whatever reason, but yeah, never bothered with the catalyst after grouping up to do the steps required to get it in the first place and haven't touched it in well over a year.

True, but it's something that could be quite useful in normal PVE too. Getting invisibility and health regen as soon as you reload the weapon could get you out of some sticky situations, whether you are in a fireteam or not. Also, I kinda hate having an uncompleted catalyst just sitting there.

Can I say I'm not a big fan of the new streak system for Vanguard ranks? It feels like it takes forever to level up, outside of double points weeks. I don't understand why one should be penalized for mixing up activities. I don't wanna have to play strikes all day long.
Not only it takes forever to rank up, but I gotta reset my rank almost twice to get that rocket launcher ornament. I bet they did it because of the longer than usual season.
I'm also pretty sure they must have increased the amount of valor required for Crucible rank ups?

They're fixing the vanguard streak loss in the patch tomorrow thankfully. It really feels like a half arsed approach to standardising ranks in all activities, but at least it won't be utterly broken.

Vanguard ranks are just way too slow for sure. Especially with strikes being a dull activity unless you're doing GMs. And this seasons GM selection is... not nice.

I've finally reset my Vanguard rank, it was a truly painful experience. Imagine not being able to do anything but strikes all day long, because if you go anywhere else your progress will slow down a ton. They really need to change their approach.

now you get to do it again so you can get the ornament!
I'm not even gonna focus on it. It's a long season, I'll get it done naturally eventually.
