We have a thread for game of the year, so why not everything else?!
Preferably a TV show that came out in 2021, but given that 'came out' is a bit of a nebulous topic depending on which services you have access to, it could also be something that you watched for the first time in 2021.
[PS/ Glad to see there's already a music version!]

Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This has been the closest to feeling like a weekly Marvel film. Hawkeye is extremely close though. And honorable mention to Ted Lasso, which debuted last year but had its second season this year. And also I mainlined that entire show as if I just came out of rehab.

Probably Midnight Mass for me. I think the Marvel TV shows are fine in the same way that their movies are fine, but I doubt I'm going to remember much about them in a couple of years.

Only seen 4 episodes of Midnight Mass so far but happy to nominate it for this just based on those episodes alone.
Shout out also to the latest season of Curb, which continues to keep the quality high.

It hasn't ended and I've only watched 3 episodes, but surely Succession. Again.

Yeah, has to be succession. Last episode tomorrow too so we started watching it at the perfect time.
Honourable mentions for WWDITS.
I'll probably start Gomorrah this week too as the last two episodes are dropping on Friday.

Reservation Dogs in terms of original stuff for me I think. Partly its just very very good, partly its production history feels important

Succession is miles ahead of anything else, ridiculously good.

Succession is miles ahead of anything else, ridiculously good. Is Succession a famous thing? Because before joining this forum I'd never heard of it or seen it mentioned anywhere. I am out of touch though.

It's pretty big, yeah... I only got caught up in the hype train when the second session was already out.
It's the perfect time to jump in now.

Arcane. Everything else is an also-ran.

'Arcane' for me I think. I know nowt about the game or its characters but actually felt quite invested in them and their stories in this. Love the painterly, 'concept art brought to life' style of it too and can't wait to see more.
Really enjoyed 'midnight mass' too, but the over-talky in a forced manner parts kind of dulled it a wee bit.
I can't recall if 'invincible' was this year, but I've really enjoyed that this year too (probably moreso than Midnight Mass).

Time to pick it back up now I've finished the much more fun Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (which has to get my vote for this thread)

Toss-up between Arcane and Midnight Mass. Honourable mentions to Chucky and Invincible.
Some good stuff this year.

Succession, closely followed by It's always Sunny

Was Mando season 2 this year or last year?
Anyway as an absolute die-hard MCU shill, I adore everything they do, apart from Falcon & Winter, which was merely okay. So my vote goes to WandaVision, closely followed by Hawkeye.
Non-Marvel it's Only Murders in the Building. Unless Mando really was this year.

I feel like I should give an honourable mention to that gritty He-Man cartoon for not being the unmitigated disaster I was expecting, and actually being pretty enjoyable.

You mean you aren't a 40 year old man raving on twitter that it destroyed your childhood?
I saw the first half and liked it, but haven't gone in for part 2 yet. But I also didn't watch much of the original show either.

Mare of Easttown was one of mine. Purely because I looked forward to it each week.
Flood gates opened this year for Korean Tv series too. Squid Game and Hellbound were both extremely watchable.
Landscapers is a late entry into my highlights for this year…
But yeah. Succession.

But I also didn't watch much of the original show either. Well I am a 40 year old man (nearly) but my childhood was based on something much more stable and secure. Specifically The Transformers.

Seems to be available sooner via other sources. Looks like it'll still be an extra few weeks for Sky.
Sorry for getting your hopes up.
