Double edged sword. It’s really hard to go back to 2D racing. Cars have huge windows for a reason.

Actually set up my wheel and that for the first time in about six months last night. Forgot how fun online modes are.

Fucks sake I'm never going to be able to not get one once all of you start bleating on about it.

PSVR2 support, 4/5 cars, Grand Valley and Sophy in one go? That's a bit surprising.

I can't wait to see how well GT Sophy works. Got to be better than the current A.I system.
Also Grand Valley. I didn't expect that to appear and would like to see more of the classic tracks added rather than cars tbh.

Hmm. I wonder how much sense it makes to play GT7 in VR, but without a wheel. Didn't like it in Dirt Rally - not so much that it doesn't handle well on a pad, but there was something nightmarish about feeling like you're in the cockpit of a car, but having no wheel to hold on to, just a flimsy controller in your hands.

Ah found it !
OK, GT7 in VR is unbelievable. One small detail that literally caught my eye - the HDR glare of headlights in your mirrors during night races. It's bright to the point where it closely resembles reality in a similar situation. I've never seen anything quite like this in a game.

Maybe it's more like Wipeout in VR than I thought.

So the big question I've got...
What's the best well priced wheel to buy?
Debating picking up a 2nd hand T300 on ebay, or looking at a 2nd hand Logitech G923
Probably wait a couple weeks though, as I'm sure everyone has this idea atm and the prices are high.

Maybe it's more like Wipeout in VR than I thought. Will have to wait for the impressions in here, but as someone who struggles with VR from a sickness perspective, I fear this could be an issue for me. That and as someone who doesn't like night driving because of glare, I think that headlight blinding could be an issue too - mind, the way I raced in our last few sessions, that would only be an issue if getting lapped.

I tried both (though I think it's the G29 on PS?) and muuuuuch preferred the T300.

Both are great and the minimum you should be looking at T300 gets better user reviews as it is belt driven and you got the option of upgrading various elements of the wheel and pedal set up. It does seem that quality control is a bit of an issue but I don’t know if that is just people complain on internet bias. The Logitech wheels are solid and does all the things you like it too- feels weighty, force feedback and the wheel snapping at you. I really like mine. Brought as a beginner wheel to a potential upgrade to a direct drive wheel in the future.

I have the G923, and am very happy with it, but don't get to set it up all that often. When I was looking, it was all too easy to look at the next model up, and find yourself at crazy prices so I just settled on a tried and tested option which I got for an OK price.
There are other owners on here but from memory can't remember who has what, and sure others will chime in with other opinions, but it's a big step up from a pad for immersion (even if some cars, I find much easier to handle with a pad)

Yeah I have the older Logitech G29 wheel and while it's good I know the T300 is meant to be better providing you find a good one.
The G923 is meant to be an improvement apparently over what I have but not enough to justify the cost.
Abarth on the other hand has a Fanatec GT DD Pro Wheel. Last time I looked... Expensive.

This will surprise no-one, but GT7 VR is incredible.
Not even tried it with the T300 yet.

This will surprise no-one, but GT7 VR is incredible. Not even tried it with the T300 yet. I think Grand Valley is probably the showcase track for VR. It's changed so much from how I remember it on GT3 and a quick look on YouTube confirmed that. It's still the same sort of track layout but feels and looks very different from before. Moving on the Sophy tech demo races. Beginner is a walk in the park, intermediate is ok but expert provides a challenge. I think a setting somewhere between the two is probably the sweet spot for me. As for the 1vs1 race... Get in the bin. That is far to difficult on Alsace and I don't think it's possible to beat the A.I without a little bit of paint work being exchanged! A full grid with A.I at that level of difficulty wouldn't be fun at all. The A.I do appear to switch places in races and cover racing lines into turns and I was impressed that instead of hanging back they do go for the gaps if and when you miss the apex.

Yeah I’ve been doing the ‘new’ menu books and I noticed the ‘normal’ ai doing some of that stuff that I haven’t noticed before. I wonder if Sophy is also actually in the main game to some degree since the update?

If it's anything like the other AI experiments that are going on at the minute I'd expect one of the drivers to get out of the car and start screaming "WHY DID THE MASTER CREATE ME THIS WAY" before heavily shitting his pants at the side of the track.
