Yep, a bunch of races open up after 'completion'.
There are a bunch of races hidden in that missions section as well. Some look to be quite long.

I think I am near the end of the menus (mid 30s or there about) and took a side-track into the missions. Golded the first two, though that last fuel conserving lap on the 2nd took more tries than I would have liked. They seem to work well as an extension of the licenses and circuit experiences for forcing you to try different approaches, learning new skills and adapting your driving.

Speaking of missions. I can not get gold on the rally mission that has you in the Audi Vs a pickup a alpine and whatever the lead car is that is finished before I even see it!
I must be doing something wrong, can't tap other cars or hit the fence/wall either.

I’m still working through the menus on this, still, to be honest, finding it quite dry and blunted. Twat awful interface that’s abrasive to use but, worse, do t feel terribly connected to the road on a pad in the way I definitely do with ACC. I realised earlier I was on the default middle difficulty when trying to turn manual gears on, so I’ll try the full fat setting next and see if that improves things.
The fucking menus though. Would I like to exit a race? Oh, there’s the exit button- that must be the thing you click to exit, awesome! No. It just moves you on to a replay that you have to skip and THEN you hit an exit button a second time. And the not being able to change a car thing IN A GAME ABOUT CARS whenever you want. Backing out of interfaces, three deep, back to the map, trying to remember which icon I need, clunkily moving the cursor to it, selecting, loading, moving the cursor to “change car”, scrolling a disordered mess of cars I can’t sort (Forza knocks this game for six here), scrolling about, picking my car, unnecessary confirmation message, backing out to the map, remembering where I was, loading three screens in a row- all to be where I just was LET ME SWAP CARS WHENEVER I WANT IN YOUr CAR COLLECTING GAME YOU KNOBHEADS.
Tried to race online earlier- you have to load up someone’s room and read what car/conditions/PP/etc they require… and then do all of the above to match that. By which time the race had started, obviously.
I think it’s actually going to break me.

I must be doing something wrong, can't tap other cars or hit the fence/wall either. I think you should stick to the central dirt as much as possible for more traction and speed if I remember correctly. The grass is ok but will slow you down more.

mothercruncherI do agree they really need to simplify getting back to the World hub at least. Have the credits win page then with the option to watch replay, have a HUB button. It does become a bit muscle memory for button presses to get back to the hub but it shouldn't be as bad as this. It's a pity because I am loving the driving in this.

I have had this with every GT game, but there’s days where I’m driving too sloppy and just have to go play or do something else.

Yeah he will have been on intermediates, I got caught out both ways last night. Dry tyres on a wet track and wet tyres on a dry one. You need to buy the tyres for whatever car you you're using in case you need to pit and change. Then you need to keep an eye on the weather radar (one of the dpad options) to track rain thats due/how long it is going to last. See pitting to change the tyres would make sense, but it was a 5 or 6 lap event so pitting when nobody else has to surely meant an instant loss, so I had wondered if the event mentioned the rain beforehand so I could prepare intermediates. I couldn't see it anywhere The radar didn't show anything at all until the rain was already on top of me. It's fine if you just have to learn the event by failing at it once but I felt like I was missing some crucial information There's definitely something hokey going on with rain and the AI. I just did the Nissan sports car menu race at Fuji, 3 laps going from damp to very wet. Every lap that passed I was having to go way slower, but the AI didn't really seem to slow down at all. And I don't buy that the AI were on intermediates or something, because eventually I backed right out, went back in and got a dry race, and the AI were going the same speed as they were in the damp and the wet. I get that rain makes it harder to stay on track, but it shouldn't effectively bump up the AI difficulty like that.

Definitely sounds like some sort of bug and it's logical that the dynamic weather might fuck up the AI sometimes. I don't think it's some catch-all bullshit oversight they've made though, because I've definitely done shorter races that have gone from dry>wet where the AI has slowed with me.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the menu structure. Wish this had an arcade mode like the previous entries where I could just pick any car and track and race. Then championships and career mode are nice to have, modding a crappy Honda is still nice... but sometimes I just want to get in a BMW and drive around Tokyo.

Had the same thing with the !st race in the World Touring Car 600, lead car just does one into the distance seemingly unaffected by the rain. Mind you the 2nd race at Suzuka the AI seems off as well - from the start of the race to the first timing check I've got a 40 sec deficit to try and make up. Need to run on racing softs to stand a chance so have to use ballast and turn the engine down just to make the PP limit

The mission in question is American Wilderness and it's bugged since the update. It puts the car on Racing hard tires rather than dirt with no way to change them. I had wondered how gaming Dave was nearly 4 second ahead of me with absolutely no chance of gold given the lack of grip. Now I know it's not me I guess I need to wait for a patch to fix the patch. Edit: PD seem aware of this. It effects some licence tests, missions and circuit experience and will be fixed in the next update. A few other things listed within the game.

I was finally getting around to do my A licence tonight and was having no end of trouble with A-8, no matter what I did I didn't have the grip the demo car had. Looked online and saw a YouTube replay that had loads of comments saying how the fuck was it that easy? Someone then pointed out the tyres in the replay and in game demo were dirt while everyone trying to do it at the moment is on comfort mediums, no fucking surprise why bronze was as good as I could get!

By the way regarding the tyre thing. I think it had bugged and failed to force me to select intermediates. I’m getting the pop up now when I just tried to enter Nurburgring on softs

mothercruncher there’s a sort button, top right on the car select screen. It defaults to last used.

My spotify music keeps bugging out in this for some reason. Where do japanese games keep finding these generic mid 2000s rock songs though, they all sound exactly the same.

I spent all my game time setting up the wheel/stand last night, so only managed 10 minutes. Feels propaaa good. I'll have an investigate into the settings as I assume you can tweak it all. Felt a little too easy to handle.

Speaking of mid-2000s rock I was a little disappointed that Feeder weren't on the tracklist. They were pretty synonymous with the first few games (in the PAL versions at least) and with this being an anniversary of sorts I really thought they'd pop up for nostalgia. I've had a Spotify playlist of classic GT songs that I used for Sport. Disappointingly I think I'll be using it for this too. I wish they could integrate Spotify like they did the old custom soundtracks on PS3 where the game still handles track selection so we could still get the jazz menus, but hey ho.

I’m quite surprised that all the reviews are talking about the music replay as a new feature, when camera cuts syncing to the music was definitely there in GT3. I spent a lot of time marvelling at it timing the cuts to Just A Day, and how fast the camera cuts went during the drum roll in the break of Seven Days in the Sun.

Sick to the back teeth of the rolling start bullshit...TC700 3 race championship get 1st then 2nd and still start from the back in the final race, fucking ridiculous.
You all know this but really needed to vent 😂

I haven't had a single race that hasn't been a rolling start from the back, and I'm well into the post menu stuff now. Only thing that has really grated about the game.

Honestly haven't had a single race that has had a grid start from the non-chilli races.

Especially when every race seems to pan out exactly the same way, give or take a few extra cars. The guy in front of you is insanely slow, so you cruise past before the first corner. The next two are bunched together but really slow. Next up is a group of three having a half-arsed battle at a slow pace. Then there’s either one or two lone stragglers spaced out, followed by the top two or three bunched up, and when you reach a certain point just behind them the chosen lead AI suddenly picks up pace and shoots into the distance for you to chase down on the last lap and half.

I quite like the start at the back for the career stuff, as I nearly always finish 1st and if I had started in 1st (from qualifying) it would just be a time trial. Had an epic race round Nürburgring last night with nearly all the overtakes feeling like a battle in itself, and that's what I want really, a load of mini battles to the top.
