Do you remember the 2007 cup final, when Chelsea fielded a full strength team, against a fairly inexperienced Arsenal? Karma. Wenger knew the competition was for a showcase for young players. As much as I dislike the love for Liverpool, I have to praise Klopp for doing it (despite injuries of course). Course I remember it. As I say, it's impressive but also the narrative is a bit misleading. If the 3 kids who came off the bench had played 120 mins, fair enough.

Full credit to Klopp for bringing young players off the bench and creating the conditions for academy kids to feel confident.
Just that it's not a surprise they won, and the stakes for Liverpool were far lower than Chelsea given their relative aspirations so it's hardly a surprise that Chelsea felt more pressure in extra time.

Also here's a nice explanation as to why VAR ruled out Liverpool's goal, and why Carragher's comparisons were flawed.

What a bizarre tweet anyway. As if local man Van Dijk just finished his shift at the shipyard before scoring the winning header.

Liverpool invented the working class, didn't you know?
There are obviously no working class people in Chelsea, don't look at North Kensington...

I presume it's because he's the MP for Glasgow East and drawing a tenuous regional parallel was the only way to use an English League Cup final to pander to his base. Reader context is the only good thing Musk has done since buying twitter. They're often hilariously cutting.

They are like that person you know who is all woe-is-me no matter the situation. If you've been to the Tenerife of misery and being held down by the man, they've been to Elvenerife.

Liverpool really are the most awful club in the league, it’s always the world against them.

I'm very sorry that a portion of their fans went through an unspeakably horrible ordeal. But it doesn't give you carte blanche to denote yourselves the underdogs and the worst off in every single situation that ever occurs after that.

Liverpool are, by every single conceivable metric, a far bigger club than Chelsea. But the narrative would have you believe David Hasselhoff should have been stood on the Wembley arch serenading them up the steps to collect their medals because they had to chuck a couple of kids on so they could give Salah and Nunez the rest to continue their PL title charge.

Same energy as accusing Arsenal of cheating once every 47 seconds per game. I learned from the best.

There are Arsenal fans here to wind up though. So you didn’t learn a thing.

Pop my head in here every so often, see the usual gnashing and snarking and the odd chuckle then duck back out..
Only caught the game on the ITVX highlights as it was my stepmother's 81st (and first since we lost Dad) so had my mind on other things. Had he still been around then I'm sure we'd have had a few a beers to celebrate. Raised a toast with my eldest instead. The highlights commentary was basic but mostly free of the hysteric and apparently hysterically triggering commentary from Sky. I don't know, maybe, like refereeing they need a larger rota of non-partisan pundits? Seems the way of things nowadays, once a term is coined, or an idea bandied about, it spreads through the rest of insatiable media/socials/forum feeding-frenzy. Bullshit begets bullshit.
Anyway, more than chuffed to see Klopp has some silverware in his last season. Though, with the ever expanding injury list, I reckon that'll be it for this year.
I suspect Salah may indeed be off but whoever comes in has been given a decent hand. Funny, it feels like a good bit of the rebuild was complete. Will be interesting to see how many of the 'kids' move up into regular first team rotation.

Winners of Forest / United will be at home to the winners of Southampton/ Liverpool in the quarter finals.
City home to Newcastle as well. Feels like they’re gonna stroll to defending this.
