And sorry @wuntyate ! If I was grading you, I'd give all your posts an A just because I like you

Don't worry I wasn't genuinely offended. My days of giving a shit about what anyone thinks of me or what I say / write are long gone.
I always appreciate a healthy pat on the arse mind you.

And Elden Ring is immense.I wasn't quite as much hours as Chopper but I finished it in a similar timeframe and sunk an unhealthy amount of hours in. Fromsoft games break something inside me. Your grasp of the English language for one
From what I've played of ER so far, I don't think it's necessarily better than Dark Souls, it's just a different experience with elements of Dark Souls. Similar to Breath of the Wild and older Zelda games like Ocarina. They both offer something very different but with some familiarity. I can still see me playing Dark Souls
I'm with you there. With Dark Souls I felt like I had one task to progress with and with ER it's like.. ah fuck can't do that.. walk over here.. ah fuck can't do that either... if anything ER has made me more of a wimp.

That's exactly how I was playing it. I spent a lot of the game using the stealth to avoid anything big and I've done quite a bit in the area with the red sky (I got teleported there) but I've been sneaking around only taking on fights I think I can win. In Dark Souls, I just walk around taking on everything as it comes
Part of that is because I pushed through that area with a +2 spear because I couldn't find any small shards (but was finding plenty of large and higher) so felt like a weakling. I went back to the critical path and finally got my weapon upgraded and I feel pretty mean there now. Early experience definitely made me soft though
You can avoid quite a lot of combat in ER if you want

To be honest with you, it was less a critique of your English and more a joke about how you'e spent so much time playing Elden Ring that you've forgotten how to speak, based on what I assumed was a typo in your post
But you being cross is like getting a dirty look from Jesus so I just want to expediate forgiveness

That does sound a lot like my experience with what little I played of DS though. Perhaps I'm just less enthusiastic about headbashing.

13. Gran Turismo 4 - PS5 - 3/5
In many ways this is exactly what I wanted from a GT game: licenses are back, the cafe menus structure makes for a nicely directed single player 'campaign' and the car fandom/museum aspect is even better (and quirkier) than ever. The problem is that once the credits have rolled I've found absolutely no desire to go back to it.
I've talked about the curate's egg in other games as a lazy shorthand for a good game negatively affected by a single aspect. In this one I think it's closer to the original story of a rotten core that you can try to get around but eventually cannot avoid. In this game it's the GAAS implementation. Credit rewards are far too low - I can't even afford one of the high end cars from Brand Central after 20 hours in the game, assuming the game actually allows me to buy one. The game's always online and it fails silently if you do something like go into rest mode in the middle of a multi-race series. I've lost multiple races' worth of progress from this. Most of all though is the way the game cycles stuff in and out to make you try and log in every day. I've packed in multiple mobile games recently because of the amount of time I was spending doing my daily logins and this is in a similar place. At that point it stopped feeling like a fun game and went into that cynical GAAS hole, where I just won the right to buy that Koenigsegg but only for the next 7 days, better get earning credits! Want a particular car? Well you'd better wait for it to turn up!
When I went through the game I really enjoyed the progression from my Mazda Demio up to the racing thoroughbreds in the end, via some real classics on the way. After playing another Forza Horizon game where I could rely on two or three cars (FH4 in particular just boiled me down to driving a Ferrari F40 around everywhere) it was a much better sense of progression. In the end though, I do want to buy my Ferrari F40 but the game won't let me. Apparently it was in the Legends area a fortnight ago, at over three times the price it was in GT Sport. I guess I missed out.

Missed these games first time around, and loved it. Kept me entertained for about 200 hours over the last few months.

Vampire Survivors - 9/10
Completed as in all current achievements/unlocks/collectibles, but still a few of the pricier power ups left to buy. 26 hours including a few nights where it kept me playing well after midnight with that "just one more go" appeal. Cracking little game with a constant drip feed of updates, and more to come when it leaves early access soon. Well worth grabbing now for a couple of quid before the price goes up.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
With "completed", I mean the introduction sequence aka main story, which took me 17 hours (including some side missions and all shrines); if I'd have to give a score just for this part, I'd say 88/100. Still have plenty of side missions and collectibles left, after 100%ing the main game I'll go into the endgame which I expect to be the real meat of the game, like it is in Borderlands.
I was somewhat sceptical before release, but I think it lives up to BL3 for the most part, and in some regards improves on it. Most notably when it comes to writing and humour which was notoriously bad in BL3, its characters were awful and it tried so hard to be funny and fell flat on its nose. Not so in Wonderlands, it's not nearly as loud, it doesn't try to whack poor punchlines over your head, instead it just goes for a light-hearted tone without trying too hard and I found that a welcome change.
I wouldn't mind laughing like I did in BL2, but I did get a good few chuckles out of it (certainly more than in BL3). Tina was a crazy psychopath in BL2, imo very funny but I can see why people found her grating. They tried to keep the craziness in BL3 but like everything in BL3 she wasn't funny anymore, leaving just the grating part. It seems they learned from that and went in a different direction this time--they toned down the insanity a lot and made her more human. She's still unmistakably Tina, but in a more quirky and likeable way, and it works surprisingly well for me.
Story-wise I never found it got that engaging, but it worked well enough. Actually I think that fits the theme of the game, which is four friends playing a tabletop RPG and having a good time. Tina narrates and makes things up on the go, the other two players comment on what's happening, there are some disagreements but it's all in good fun. The villain also comments on her dungeon mastering and tells you not to trust her. The whole game tries to be cheerful and uplifting in times of social distancing, sending messages about friendship and such, and it works better than I expected and made me smile. It's just... refreshingly friendly. There isn't even any gore, but I actually didn't care, this game doesn't need any, in fact I think that could have been detrimental.
What I like least is the soundtrack. It's ok, but very subdued in the background, again kind of fitting the theme, but I do miss the amazing soundtrack of BL3.

Tunic - 5/10
What a disappointment. I fell in love with it the moment I first saw pre-release gameplay footage, and I feel a little bad for being harsh on it because it looks so adorable. But the longer I played, the more joyless it became and I had to force myself to launch the game and go on. By the time I reached the final stretch the experience had become downright hateful, I just begged for it to be finally over, turned god mode on and used a walkthrough because I just couldn't be arsed anymore.
One of my main gripes was its crypticity. It first seemed interesting enough--for maybe 30 minutes at most. After the novelty had worn off it became increasingly annoying, it felt cryptic just for the sake of being cryptic and detrimental to the experience. I was constantly thinking, please just tell me what it does. Please just give me an automap. When I found a new card later in the game, I couldn't even be bothered to look it up on the internet anymore, I just didn't give a fuck.
But worst of all was combat. I hoped I'd eventually warm up to it but it just became worse the longer I played. It's just so cumbersome and tedious. No matter if it's an easy or a difficult encounter (and difficulty is all over the place, it feels very random), it's always tedious. Somehow it managed to be tedious even with god mode on.
I guess that's the key word. The game started interesting, but turned into sheer tedium.

The bosses though, fuck that. Total guessing game and so tedious. I turned on God mode for the last boss but even then I couldn't be arsed finishing it. Loved the music though.

Sounds and looks like another Death’s Door. I find the combat far better in Deaths door. Bosses are almost as annoying but at least they seem to use attacks that you've encountered before so you have a better chance of defeating them in the initial attempts.

Vietnam '65 (PC)This is a light turn-based strategy game, and really consists of one randomised map which you're supposed to play multiple times. I generally like to finish games and move on, so this has been a fairly novel experience. I have a whole slew of these beer & pretzel-type wargames lined up to play, and I bet skirmish mode features heavily, so it's gonna be weird. In Vietnam '65 your HQ is plonked down on the east side of a map with ten villages, a river, partial roads, and lots of jungle. You have Political Points which is your political capital, with which you can buy men and armour. You also have a Hearts & Minds score, which moves up an down, towards the US or the North Vietnamese. You add to that score by keeping the Viet Cong and the NVA out of the villages, by clearing mines, and by eliminating threats. The score decreases if the enemy gains a foothold in the villages. You locate the enemy by visiting the villages and winning hearts and minds, and in return they will sometimes give you intel which reveals VC or NVA troops on the map. You have to keep your troops in supply, and ensure your Hueys (used for transport, not combat) have enough fuel etc. It's very much a game of managing logistics and balancing decisions like whether you should buy a Huey and some cheap infantry, or that shiny attack helicopter or tank. All the while, you have to push from west to east with your engineers and set up FBOs and Firebases. If you don't keep a lid on the village situation, the NVA will invade from the west with armour.
It was co-developed for mobile, so the interface is a bit mobile-horror, and there is no Undo button - misclicking is common when you're learning the game, but less so as you go on:
Scouting is very restricted, and the guerilla warfare of the Vietnamese is nicely represented by them emerging suddenly from the Ho Chi Minh Trail and taking a pop at your troops or helicopters. Once they strike, they then disperse and melt back into the jungle, so you can't retaliate against that particular cadre. Instead you have to use your intelligence to reveal positions and try and make sure that you can cover a large area of the map with airstrikes and artillery. Overall I had a very good time with it. Your ongoing progress is tracked via medals (achievements) you win, and these are added to your uniform after every game. I don't know now whether I'll move on, or keep dipping in from time to time.

Aperture Desk Job. Very short, very Aperture Science and very worth playing even if you haven't got a steam deck. Just a bit of silly Aperture Science fun.

Sagebrush (PC) A fairly rudimentary walking sim in a lo-fi graphical style, based on investigating the compound of a Branch-Davidian-type cult in northern New Mexico in the Nineties. The graphics don't detract from it - if anything they add to the oppressive atmosphere. It's rudimentary in the sense that progress is made by going to Location A, where you find a key to Location B, and so on, until you've explored the whole map. The linear structure helps it tell a story which swings between subtle and hackneyed, but which delivers a coherent and rewarding conclusion, which isn't always a given with walking simulators. At less than two hours long, it's worth checking out. I believe it is included in both the Ukraine and Racial Equality Itch.io bundles.

I completed the Yuffie DLC over the weekend. Generally I enjoyed the additional content, and the classic normal mode is pretty welcome. My biggest issue is because it's so short, there's no real way of levelling up the materia without doing a huge amount of grinding. It has made me want to go back to the main game, and have a quick blast on some things I missed out on.

Metroid Dread 9/10
The last 2D Metroid I played was Fusion I think. The E.M.M.I.-s were proper panic inducing bastards, really well done. It would have been nice if it would have gone on longer. I did get over 80% on all areas (some 100%) and only a couple of really tricky pickups I did not bother with. It definitely was a lot of fun while it lasted!

Just finished divinity 2 on the switch.
Brilliant game, I think everyone knows how well it reviewed. My only criticism is that it felt a bit bloated by time I got to the last big area "arx" and was ready for the game to finish.
I also think I would have had a much better experience on a big monitor with fancy pc graphics. Felt I missed alot of the atmosphere by playing on my blurry lite screen. Although the flip side of that is I was able to play it on my commute and actually finish the thing.

House of Ashes
Easily their best thing since Until Dawn, I need to play again as I only had 2 survivors first time round. Graphics are absolutely stunning on the series X too.
8.5/oh fuck I should have pressed A faster.

One of those ones that was so bad it turned the 9/10 game I was loving into a 3/10 game that made me angry.

What was it about the ending that annoyed you so much, I didn't find it jarring compared to the rest of the game in particular.
