Is the performance report generated from SQL Server itself or some third party software? I know you can query SQL Server to get an ordered list of expensive queries. They generally WON'T show the Create statement used to create an SP, just the statement within the SP that is expensive.
Unless, someone has coded a Create Statement inside an SP which is run whenever the SP is called - which would be horrible.

The former - it's reporting the CREATE statement for creating the SP itself. Which would fail every single time because the SP already exists Normally the DROP and CREATE resolves that, but yeah still horrible.

SQL itself, the performance dashboard under standard reports.
OK I'm getting more convinced that something is wrong.
But then again... it would surprise me that a create statement, especially one that should immediately fail, would show up in the list of expensive queries.

Is it not flagging the instances rather than the individual query per se?

Honestly no idea at this point.
I've got a simple plan though: I'm going to delete the SP on a test bed and see if it reappears

What does the first part of the Create Statement say e.g. "Create Table <something>", "Create Proc <something>". Could be a SP that creates a temp table...

CREATE PROCEDURE <ProcName>
It definitely, definitely refers to the create statement of a SP that should not ever be recreated for any normal reason. It's not the create statement for a temp table etc.
The SP it refers to should and does get executed all the time. And indeed it's working fine as far as anyone can tell.

I just checked a SQL Server I've got running on a dev box and ran a performance report. Got a list of expensive queries and they all showed the body of various SPs (never the create statement), except 1 which is called "CREATE PROC sys.sp_flush_commit_blah_blah_blah" - so that's obviously some SQL Server System stuff running.

Thanks dude.
Is there anywhere I could look to retrieve the list of errors that are presumably being returned when this fails to create a procedure that already exists?

Thanks dude. Is there anywhere I could look to retrieve the list of errors that are presumably being returned when this fails to create a procedure that already exists? For errors, I think you have to go to Managment > SQL Server Logs > <Expand tree> Should show a list of logs, current and archive which you can double click to view in Log viewer. You can then search in that for keywords like the proc name etc.

We got the public preview of M365 Copilot stuff this week and attended some random webinar live event on it today. The presenter had to keep repeating themselves because their copilot kept on refusing to do anything and kept coming back with generic “I’m sorry but I can’t do that yet” messages. I lol’ed.

Heh, we've got MS coming in to give us a live demo of it soon. I can just imagine how cringeworthy it going wrong would be. It's for a huge audience too, so even if the demo actually goes well, it'll just be a "See all this cool shit? Well you can't fucking have it!" scenario. We're so stingy with licenses here I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea.

We are moving from splunk to sentinel so I’m spending every waking moment with them at the moment. I’ve just done SC-200 and have had a bit of enough of it. I had to remind a guy that the contracts are signed so he can stop the ‘technical sales’ stuff.

Yeah, this was kind of bizarre. It was an NDA’d demo for people who had already signed up for the early access, and it was still sales pitchy. And you’d also think people who are throwing a few hundred k at something would have an understanding of the basics before they signed the check and you wouldn’t need to go over “SO WHAT IS AI” in it.

Also, when it works it is legitimately cool. I asked it to summarize our project and portfolio strategy and it did a better job than anyone in our PMOs could. But it’s also so nebulous as to the use case and so crazy expensive that enterprises are going to have a hell of a time gatekeeping and deciding who should get a license.

I'm finally about to buy the LG 48 OLED C2 as I stupidly rubbed off some of the anti-glare protection on my 16 year old Panasonic plasma and I'm not sure which kind of HDMI cables I need to buy.
I'll be connecting a Switch, Series S, PS5 and Sky Q box - do I need to go for HDMI 2.1 with 4K @ 120hz?
So many numbers!
Edit - Argh, and now it's gone back up to 899 instead of 799. Looks like I'll be waitin for Black Friday -_-

Any old shite will do for the Switch and Sky box. I'd just reuse the cables you have already.
And yeah, just get a 2.1 cable for the series S and PS5. Arguably you can reuse the cables they come with too, but they're pretty rubbish.

The PS5 is pretty fussy with HDMI cables so don’t cheap out on that one.

Just make sure it's 'certified', that is there will be a QR code on the packaging and you scan that with the HDMI Cable Certification App to check its authenticity.

I'm being stupid and waiting for Black Friday now - tiny chance the C3 will go quite low or I'll be able to get the TV from a more established store with a 5Y Guarantee such as Currys or John Lewis.
So excited - I've had this TV for 16 years and it can't even do 1080p. It's been an amazing piece of kit though, part of me is sad to see it go.

My old plasma is in my son's room. It still rocks, even if there's also a weird coating issue having developed.

Especially as he leaves it on all the time. What with the PS4 in there too, it's like stepping off the plane on the med.

Heh, I used to work at Currys in my Uni days, always had a soft spot for them - any particular reason to avoid?
It's not like any of the retailers are making the TV.
