To be fair to caddyshack, almost every comedy in the early/mid-80s was contractually obliged to have at least one completely superflous pair of tits in it.
If not the best, I think it still ranks as one of the most influential comedies of the 80s. I absolutely love it.

I've never seen it, don't know why really as I generally like Chevy Chase in movies, despite his legendary reputation.

Yeah I absolutely loved it but it has been years since I have seen it. I have seen many people say that it doesn't hold up but pretty sure that is code for 'I'm offended and you should be too'.
Same for movies like Revenge of the Nerds, Animal House and Meatballs. Granted they may not actually be any good and certainly wouldn't be made today but they where fun, stupid and enjoyable and oddly enough they are still fun stupid and enjoyable. It was a good period for comedy movies.

I remember vividly seeing Caddyshack for the first time. I must have been about five. I found the gopher bits hilarious obviously but went "Urrrrrgh" at the topless pool bits - at which point my Dad said "shut up son! Those are nice!" Little insight into my childhood there. Cindy Morgan. And he wasn’t wrong.

Now Revenge of The Nerds is a bit dicey what with all the raping and whatnot.

And it invented a whole genre by itself. The Black Dog wants a word with you

Wikipedia tells me there's a Caddyshack 2, I had no idea...

It's a pretty stellar debut for Ramis too.

Iron Maiden are a bit shit.

I kind of agree.
I might like them a tad more than that as I think Iron Maiden did a few classic albums, and the non-classic albums often had a couple of decent songs, but I don't really like anything they've released in the last twenty years.

I can't really counter as I couldn't name a song or an album.

I don't even know if saying they are a bit shit is an unpopular opinion. Many people think they are a bit shit, but many people think lots of bands are a bit shit. So it's a hard one to comment on, or even debate, as there are lots of bands I think are a bit shit. Maiden are not one of those bands. Then again I think Metallica are a bit shit, and other people don't.

Slipknot are a bit shit, but they've just had a no.1 album. That means some other people don't think they are a bit shit.
If you say or type bit shit enough, it sounds/reads odd.

What other bands do you not like?
I could list all the bands I don't like but there are a lot of bands out there and I don't think I like all of them, so it may take some time.

Some people like Coldplay. And they are a bit shit.
That said, the further footage of their recent stadium concerts where the audience had wristbands that change colour was pretty cool to watch.
Would be nice to see that tech used by a non-shit band.

I really hate Muse, the lead singer's voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
Their fans always seem to be fanatical about them as well.

Maiden are one of the few metal bands I actually like and play. Sorry. I'm pretty sure I said before that I'm not a fan of Radiohead. I won't call them shit, but I don't enjoy them. Or Muse. Or Genesis (or most other prog), for that matter. Everything's shit, eh?

I'll take Genesis over Radiohead any day of the week. Even the Phil Collins lead stuff. *Especially* the Phil Collins lead stuff.

Christ, lumping Muse and Genesis in with Radiohead.
What next - Shakin' Stevens with Bowie? Dave Matthews' Band with Sonic Youth?

I wasn't suggesting there was any relation... although, all have a progginess that you're welcome to keep (there's a reason I'm a punk). I was just mentioning my feelings about bands already under discussion by others.

Heh - I've never seen Radiohead as 'proggy' but can definitely see the elements.
Went to see PUP earlier in the week, they were pretty great. More punk-rock than outright punk but really enjoyed it all the same.
Felt like a grandad in the student union bar, though.

Fwiw, I don't particularly dislike any of those bands, just there's only so much time for music and I focus on the stuff that I love, you know.
I don't know PUP beyond the name, tbh. They're a fairly modern band, I think?
