I never got Muse, always seemed like wank, maybe I should try again to see if I'll like them now I'm old. I saw them at a festival once and they bored me to tears. Have another listen if you don't mind having to hurt yourself during and afterwards.

One of the things that annoys me the most in the world is 'Portishead: Live in NYC' is a great live set ruined by a crowd of Americans who insist on clapping either out of time or on the off beat.
Once you hear it and so on and so forth...

I just went on YouTube to watch some recent Muse and got an advert for a weight loss program. From James Corden. That's like Reich Said Fred advertising a barbers. holy shit lol

A bit like that jerk in Nirvana: Unplugged who whoops during the intro to Man Who Sold the World. Surely he can be digitally removed now?

Not my finest hour, but I once shoved a guy over at a NIN gig for singing along to Hurt in the most atonal honk imaginable.

I saw Portishead and Prince the same year at Coachella, which I know is infuckincredibly unfair.

Don't know why he stepped in, he didn't even flirt with me or anything, but that was super cool of him because I didn't want to do that at all. I got thrown in.

The worst is when the audience can't clap in time to the song.

I fucking hate audiences clapping along to songs. And anyone that whistles. On a similar note I hate live albums. It does nothing to recreate the atmosphere, it just demonstrates really shoddy mixing because the crowd noise is, without exception, too bloody loud

Sounds well deserved imo As you can probably imagine, the rest of the gig is an absolute onslaught of noise and lights and then all of a sudden, nothing except Trent singing. You can hear a pin drop. Everyone is silent. Except the one dickhead who is the hero of his own anime.

Prodigy were great live. The smaller the venue the better!
Brixton Academy 2009 (I think) was probably one of my fave gigs of all time.

Depeche Mode was the first concert I ever saw. I was totally blown away by it. Seen them 4 times since.
I'm not mentioning the other concerts I've gone to with various partners as they've tended to be shite girly stuff.

The most miserable gig I ever went to was a covers night in Croydon where I was sat next to an drunk bloke who talked and "sang" through the whole thing. Highlight was during a performance of Fake Plastic Trees, where during the "It wears him out..." refrain he was singing "WHEERRRE'S YOUR MOOOUUUTTTH???"

Still gutted over a decade later that I had to turn down free tickets for one of the boxes in the O2 for Depeche Mode. One of the few bands that I love that I haven't seen live.
I should've just pulled a sicky FFS!

I fucking hate audiences clapping along to songs. Yup. Particularly as the first three or four claps are in time and in sync, before the whole thing breaks up into an absolute cacophony as some get over eager and try to double time it as another group realise they can't be arsed or are too pished to keep the right beat.

If I'm being completely honest and going with a personal top three, it's
Prince (obviously) Depeche Mode Massive Attack
so to not have seen DM live kills me

They were fantastic. One person I took had seen some amazing concerts (Madonna, Michael Jackson, Queen etc ) and said they were the best they'd seen at getting the audience going....aside from Tom Jones apparently, but I'm ignoring that. They really were amazing. I was screaming at the top of my lungs by the end of each of them. I was a massive fan once upon a time.

Like I said, British groups always do the best shows. I totally believe DM and Tom Jones were up there.
Prince is unbeatable to me, but Mike and Madge, I get.

I should've just pulled a sicky FFS! I always promised my kids that I'd take them to a concert one day when they were old enough. I took them to DM (Exciter Tour) and had tickets just to the left of the stage. Amazing tickets and my kids were blown away by thousands of people yelling "Reach out and touch faith". I got a shiver just thinking back to that. My eldest was shy and to see them enter blinking into the arena and then look gobsmacked and end up screaming away was great. That was a good day. Flippin freezing getting back though.

I cant remember if that lass went and saw Prince. She might have. Her job was PR and she would get taken all over the place as a consequence.
Oh, forgot I've seen the Stranglers and Madness in concert too. Both of those were pretty good, but then I'm really showing my age now.

I saw Kylie at a stadium and that was weirdly good fun. Around the time Fever came out. She played all her weird early 90s indie stuff, but the whole show was themed as A Clockwork Orange with dancing droogs and Beethoven mixed into it. Then there were some extended guitar riffs for some reason. Put on a proper show basically.
Muse on the other hand. Came on, didn't talk to the audience. Banged out their songs exactly as they are on the album. Fucked off. Waste of time, could have stayed at home and listened to the CD for all the atmosphere they got going.

I still think the single best live show I've seen belongs to RFTC and the most gutting, that I had to work and couldn't go and see their RIP show in San Diego (all my friends went, boo).
