It’s easy to be annoyed with Melissa McCarthy with the travel website ads and crap film after crap film. But every now and then she does something really good. I used to say every time she makes a film the Gods toss a coin, but in reality they throw two twelve-sided die. Double twelves and you’ve got a good film.

I had a major crush on Sandra Bullock when I was younger. Watched Speed recently and she does a really good job elevating what could have been a very token role into something more human. Or maybe Keanu just makes her acting look good by comparison  But I was never such a fan of her later shift into Meg Ryan style ditzy romantic comedy roles. I can definitely see a few of those verging into annoying. Zephro should really watch Speed though. |

Can You Ever Forgive Me? was a genuinely good film, and McCarthy was great in it. Reminds me how Adam Sandler is usually insufferable but then he stars in something like Uncut Gems and it's surprising how good he is. |

Yes these actors who do seem to do the same old boring comedy shit all the time and then do something serious and they're great, I would add Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell to the two above.
