I guess its like when you look at a classic band and say something like Metallica have 10 studio albums and the general consensus only between 3 and 5 of them are good or Black Sabbath have 19 of which no one sane likes more than 7 or 8 of them. But they got to keep going through the motions to keep the show on the road.
To not have an overarching story planned for the 3 films was just insane. And while the second film wasn't bad it completely failed as a middle film as it left absolutely nowhere to go.
I’d understand it if the first was a surprise hit and they had to scramble to write a sequel but this was them coming in to a story that already had an established six movie narrative arc.
Like how difficult to get someone in to sketch out the path for the next three?
I’ve tried to watch the last Jedi again 3 times in the last month or two, I can’t get through an hour of it. It’s just boring and shit at the same time. I swear half of you on here are on the wind up stating your love for it. Either that or it’s cool to like the film the neckbeards hate.
I can’t pick a worst SW film, TLJ, ROS, ATOTC and ROTS are all equal.
I wouldn't say I "love" it. Just that it's the most interesting film in the new trilogy. It has pacing issues but when it works it works very well, when it doesn't it's a bit boring - which is still better than "actually shit" like ROS or most of the prequels.
Rogue One is a Star Wars film that actually has a war in it and Andor is the prequel to it that reminds everyone the Galactic Empire are Nazis and not bumbling twats. I love both.

Anything with Rey in it, I suppose. The forcey stuff is kind of interesting. Everything else sucks a big one.
The core of the film, really, is ‘the new rebellion’ and inspiring the next generation but it all sucks a big one. The stuff on Vegas planet is rubbish and the rest of the rebels getting picked off veeeeeeeery sllllloooooowly is just insane.
I know it makes sense that parts of the Empire might cling on after the battle of Endor but the sequel trilogy (from what I remember) never really establishes why the New Republic has fallen so quickly and the First Order have become powerful.
Who knows, maybe there’s a streaming series in exploring that
I still find it fascinating that they couldn’t work out what to do with the sequels and still ended up going “fuck it, we’ll just badly adapt Dark Empire” anyway.
I’ve not bothered checking the schedule to know if they’re doing any Old Republic stuff but ideally I think the best way to do another movie would be to do a KOTOR style epic adventure from the past that gives them the freedom to tell whatever story they want without needing to shade in any cracks in the existing continuity.
I think Mandalorian or Boba Fett might end up referencing this stuff at some point since the space they’re operating in is post-ROTJ
Quite possibly the Ahsoka series will, the Mandalorians don't seem all that interested in the Empire but there's one of the last of the most high ranking Imperials involved in the new show.

Which bits work really well?
I personally like the stuff with Rey, Luke and the stuff with Ren.
Vegas planet was shit, can't argue there.
The chase wasn't great, but I did think the light speed ramming was pretty spectacular.
The final section on the planet with the white/red sand was great.
AKSHUALLY the whole Rey / Ren dynamic is the trilogies redeeming feature as a whole, their bits in ROS were pretty good, and I like those characters.

What did they say about it in the 3rd one? All I remember is Chewy getting exploded and something about a zombie Palatine. I was hungover to fuck when I watched it and it honestly felt like an acid flashback.

Somehow, nothing made sense.
The only good thing was Billy D, although I do enjoy watching Oscar Isaac in most things.
Which was the one where they went lightspeed over land inside a planet’s atmosphere? Even Anakin the best pilot in the galaxy / most powerful force user didn’t try that
Someone suggests trying it and it gets hand waved away as ‘one in a million’ and is never mentioned again. Which almost makes it weirder as it actually looked pretty easy.
Expands the universe, provides character growth and depth to almost the whole core ensemble, introduces new key characters, and gets the pacing and action spot on.
Plus the Empire gets to look effective for one of maybe three or four occasions in the whole franchise.
Its so undeniable even the Special Edition (which I assume all three originals are on D+) only tinkers around the edges. Cleaning up some effects on Hoth, making Cloud City look a bit bigger and more moody, tweaking the Emperor and Boba Fett to align with the prequels. If you didn’t know I don’t think you’d notice, there aren’t any out of place cgi beasties like in ANH.
I don’t think I’d properly thought through how dark Luke’s actions after the duel are but he essentially tries to kill himself rather than join Vader. Pretty bold move for someone with only a weekend’s training at Jedi Camp.
