I'm surprised how many people, me included, have Alien Isolation sitting there. I didn't think it'd generally be that kind of game. Thomas Grip (of Frictional) wrote about it on his blog and among other things he also mentioned how it was just too long. Not to simplify, but I'm sure that's one reason why people abandon it.

I absolutly loved alien isolation.. played it through twice. I do agree it is a little bit long. However once you realise how the alien works and to "keep pushing" rather than hiding all the time you shave off alot of your time.
The flame thrower also basically null and voids the alien itself.

I installed Call of the Sea as soon as it was on Game Pass, fired it up, played the first short section, and then... nowt. And now it's leaving the service.
I've also got Red Dead and Hellblade that more or less fit the bill here (I play them once in a while but I'm progressing really slowly).

Hades. I bought it this morning... Still not loaded it up. I'm actually thinking of exercising first before I do.
Call myself a gamer? Fucking wannabee wanker.

I love it and its near the top of my replay list. I did start it again on the PS4 that bricked last October and lost all my progress as I didn’t have PS+ at the time. It still absolutely held up visually and for gameplay. I can see the slow methodical gameplay and occasional cheap deaths grinding some players down though. There is a point which feels like a natural ending but it turns out that there’s still somewhere between a third to half of the game left to go.

I played up to the point where i met the Alien for the first time. It seemed good, so I didn't stop because of any dislike... I just got sidetracked and can't seem to get around to going back to it. But don't want to uninstall it.
I had heard it was too long and padded out with androids though.
The encounters with armed humans in the first section seemed a bit random. There didn't seem to be any clear way to know if they could see you or not, so you'd sometimes get shot from miles away, and other times not. But maybe it just takes time to learn those systems.

Christ. Loads. Metroid Dread hasn't been fired up yet Resident evil village: Still at the house after killing what'sherface Resident Evil 2 remaster: Still at the sewers looking for chess pieces Diablo 2 resurrected: Was playing actively, but has dwindled. Metro something-or-other. Installed, not played. RDR2. Couldn't even be arsed to get into it, sold it. Returnal. Just stopped. Dinivity: Divine something 2: still in shrinkwrap It goes on You're actually not that far from the end of RE2, if you put an hour or 2 in you could finish that! I've been stuck on the boss battle that follows that bit for about two years now. Need pokes...

No it can just be a bit inconsistent like that. First time around there were definitely a couple of sections where it was as easy to brute force by putting your head down and sprinting as they were being stealthy since it was so hard to know if you’d be caught or not. Unless I was just being impatient.

There is a clear point where it could end. Just turn it off after that and pretend the rest doesn't happen. If it had ended there, it would've been replayed a few times. Its brilliant but just too long.

My pile of shame is big enough already but as a big fan of Pathless and Shadow of the Colossus this has got my credit card itching

I installed The Outer Worlds (not Wilds) about a month ago. After playing a few hours I was convinced that this time I'd see it through, definitely wouldn't abandon it. Everything about it should click, I'm a sucker for every other Western RPG in that style.
Then came Forza Horizon 5, bit of Skyrim with the AE upgrade, oh and I bought Dark Souls Remastered for a second playthrough. Same as last time, give it another month and I'll have forgotten where I was and how to play it and will have to restart anyway.

I have too many games on the go at the moment.
I’m feeling most bad for not playing Ghost of Tsushima, as it’s definitely brilliant and I am really enjoying it. I just have Metroid Dread (also not getting enough love), Forza Horizon 5, Returnal, and a new found addiction to No Man’s Sky getting in the way. And Age of Empires IV.
Chances of me finishing more than one of those before Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring early next year are slim…
I think I need to do another ‘one out, one in’ new year resolution on my play list.

PSVR for me. Bought it in January, got Star Wars Squadrons, Vader Immortal, all the free vr games they gave away during the summer and more. I've played it once. I love it, it's just a hassle getting it set up.
Also I can only play it at weekends when the kids are out on adventures otherwise they'll want to play it (too young), but I can't play it with a hangover, and as it's the weekend...
Maybe next year.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy plus the three sequels on my 2DS. I've done the first two or three cases of the original but I just haven't felt motivated to continue. Not sure why. Maybe they're not "gamey" enough for me.
Anyway, I've vowed to never buy one of these again unless I finish this lot first.
