Christ, the Diana Vickers thread. Oh yeah...I just remembered something concerning spaniels. Yeah that thread was rough.

I wonder how articles like, 'I'm Super Horny for Sexy Vampire Lady!' fit in with Reedpop's desired image.

The first part of the URL says Huffington Post, but the rest simply screams The Onion.

So on brand. An entirely middle-class lens on what’s important to “working class communities”.

Despite not having been on it for many years now, I've never quite managed to click the self-destruct button on my Facebook account, even though I probably should. All that's stopping me are the photos that may not exist anywhere else.
Honestly, the great majority of it probably represents a black eye in my life and I don't think I could ever bring myself to review it properly. But I've agreed with myself at some point that I'm not going to rake myself over the coals for not being more of an agent of change at the time or for posting things that fill me with shame now. (Ok I rake myself over the coals a bit. 4 on the toast scale.)
Tldr; we all grew up and got jobs for the man.

You can download a zip file of all your data before you hit the red button. I got all my pics and whatnot before I nuked mine.

I keep mine active purely as a line of contact for people I’ve lost touch with to find me. It’s the only social media where I use my real name so it does have some use in that respect. But otherwise I don’t touch it.

Yeah pretty much the same for me. I haven't posted anything on Facebook for years now that I wouldnt be surprised if some ones from secondary school or University think I've died.

I was very annoyed with myself when I forgot to back up all of my photos when I nuked my account.

There was a time where sharing horrific porn and shock videos in the workplace was fairly normal. Goatse etc.

Marketplace is great for buying and selling alsorts. Certainly can be annoying dealing with crap sellers/buyers but can often pick up bargains or whatever.

I check my FB memories every morning. Too many 'bubbles are open' posts. But there are some gems in there too. And, like kal, I keep it in order to keep a line of contact with old school and uni mates.
I do occasionally post but way less than I used to, where every visit somewhere would be a check-in.

I only use FB for marketplace and feeds from various stupid groups like "ghosts caught on camera" or "AI art disasters". I don't actually follow anyone I know or speak to anyone on it. Fuck that. Place is a cesspool.

I remember my very first job was really the first time I’d have email and used it regularly. I had a colleague that was obsessed with beheading videos and that sort of thing and sent them round the whole team in a daily basis. Absolutely unbelievable to think that was acceptable.

Even 3 years ago, a friend (doctor) showed me what's in his work whatsapp and I thought wtf. I wouldn't even dream of being in a group with colleagues.

Back in the late 90s there was a guy at work that shared a daily joke to an email list. Some were amusing, most were meh. It all came to a halt when someone (not me) complained to HR about one being homophobic. Much more amusing was editing peoples login.com on the VMS server so that the first command was 'logoff'

So are you trying to claim that the old forum was full of pervs? I'm sure they'd have been named and shamed by the media if there were any.

I wonder how much of this is down to changes in society and acceptable culture, and how much is just down to us getting old and no longer being in, or mixing with people, in the 18-30 age/mentality/hormonal range.

I'd like to think if the old place were a building that got demolished, the only things they'd be picking out of the rubble would be Decks' heavily phallus-inspired artwork.

I think one of the reason middle aged men act so fucked up on the internet is that rotten.com was pretty much the first site anyone went to when they got a computer.

Kids today don't even know. Show them Yeti Sports and they'd be horrified that that's basically what we did all day.
