Probably the wrong thread for me to bring it up Probably. Stick it in one of the others. I have 2 friends that worked on Cats Countdown, each with wildly differing opinions on her. Same for Rachel Riley. One liked Rachel and hated Katherine, then vice versa.

When you write it like that it almost sounds like they're people who some people like and some people don't.

I’ve finally watched the dispatches thing last night and it’s changed my view somewhat. At the very least he’s a narcissistic cunt who massively abused his power and fame to fuck whoever he wanted . Unfortunately if the rape claims are true I fear it could be their word against his . I hope they can go to that rape clinic one of the accusers went to for some records . They have the records from the rape clinic, they showed them on the program and they were in the Times article. Seriously people should read the Times article I feel like people aren't quite getting just how much info they have here. It really sounds like to beat his injunction habit they went above and beyond what you might see in a regular expose to an almost CPS level burden of proof before going public with the programme/article. If he’s shut down articles and documentaries in the past (as Adam Rowe and others have said) then the Times and Dispatches will have needed this one to be watertight to beat the lawyers.

Unfortunately the proof and work they did doesn't seem to be enough for some people though.

If anything its evidence that they only did this because they were “out to get him”

Unfortunately the proof and work they did doesn't seem to be enough for some people though. The fact that it takes so long to do a thorough job, to collate the information, ensure its integrity and make sure it passes all the legal hurdles has only feeds the 'WHY NOW?' narratives rather than making people think 'wow, actual journalism is hard'.

I can't keep up with this thread and don't normally post on more serious matters if I can help it, but I very much agree with a lot of what has been said in here.
Re: the noughties - it's funny but even with a nostalgia skewed view, that's one decade I just don't view favourably. There's nothing positive about it that sticks in my head at all and it seems rules by male toxicity and arrogance.

Guarantee people will say that about the 2010s and such - MeToo, Weinstein, Trump, Rochdale grooming scandal, reality TV and such.

We are just going to have the same reckoning in the 2040s. 'How could they allow a fat white guy to conduct a harrassment campaign against a black woman on national TV?' 'why did conservatives consistently protect prolific sex pests just because they said some bullshit about the covid vaccine?'.
In fact, given the left vs right tribalism, the 2020s will probably come off worse.

A friend from uni has just reminded me we had a guest lecturer for a semester was the guy who set up Zoo. Eurgh. One of our extended friends group used to do loads of the features for Zoo, Loaded, Maxim, FHM, Nuts, etc etc. Loads of the photo shoots we've all had under our bed at some point. These day his bio for that period is Freelance journalist, and he now works for the Guardian. I have a soft spot for Nuts as it saved me from washing bedsheets and clothes every day. Mind you the shame and embarrassment of buying it from Tesco was immeasurable.

Obama was President for most of the 2010s. I suspect that will be seen as a more positive decade on the whole before the awfulness of the 2020s.

The 2020s should be remembered as the decade conservatives got everything they wanted and proved nothing they advocate for works.
Instead its going to be the decade they deliberately inflicted untold harm on the world with their spiteful, flailing death rattle.

I think we can all agree the 90s was the last great decade. Compared to the naughties it seems tame and of course it was the last decade of great music before shite the likes of Coldplay, razor light and the kooks emerged.

It all started going downhill with Ibiza Uncovered.
I’ll be honest, if the 2000s was a massive sex party I think I missed it. The memory is a bit hazy, but I think I mostly spent it in shit jobs and being a bit shy. Even in uni things only got as wild as pulling 1930s cinema listings from microfilm in the periodicals section of the library.

Probably belongs in the unpopular opinions, but a 99 is soft serve shite. Only redeemable thing is the flake.

It's unsurprising but if you click on a Brand supporter I like to guess whether they'll have an antivax, chem trail or WEF conspiracy message in their profile.
Quite often it's a full house.

Those three things you mention are all very 90s. I mean Oasis and Blair trundled into the 00s but the 90s was definitely their heyday, and the Cool Britannia years are largely thought to have ended in 97 when Robbie Williams started sounding like Oasis.
