Not managed to play much for the past few nights, but had an hour or so tonight and have progressed past the White Lady and did Julien's side quest. Still loving this.
Have now combined the Bone Saw blade with the Dancers handle...very nice combo for my balanced build (with decent motivity) and at +5 is doing the business.

Have just switched to exactly the same combo- the Bone Saw Blade is excellent for general reach and the handle makes the speed feel much more fitting for a dex build. Enormously impressed with the quality of LoP. It launched, with some derivative elements- tribute elements if you’re feeling generous- but with SO much quality. From the sometimes exquisitely designed environments, packed with neat little details and easter eggs, to the brilliant mesh of the Pinocchio lore into a macabre Souls world, some interesting little innovations to character build mechanics and then all wrapped up in one of the most solid and slick game engines I’ve seen recently. On the Series S it looks bloody gorgeous and the framerate does not miss a beat. A heck of an achievement.

Outside of boss fights it's the best souls like game yet for me (not including nioh in that as it's combat is totally different).

There's part of me that wishes there was a bit more depth to the equipment load out than basically just choosing the hardest hitting anti-puppet/humanoid weapon and a few amulets, but at the same time I'm glad I don't have to do the Elden Ring thing of starting every checkpoint by remembering to apply a complex recipe of essential buffs and run around wearing some daft looking +1 pantaloons and helmet.

I think one of the best things about it is the level design: short, compact, intriguing maps with an almost perfect level of challenge i.e. tough for the stage of the game but for the most part not frustrating. I've just travelled through Lorenzini arcade and I absolutely loved it - a masterclass in engagement and challenge, like many other areas.
I've arrived at the Grand Exhibition level and I'm already dreading the next boss fight to be honest. It's coming. I can feel it in my bones.

That glorified bouncer seems fun to be around... not!!!
Edit: I never really liked bouncers -thankfully the clubs I used to go didn't need them- so got rid of

He’s a big man but he’s out of shape, with P it’s a full time job. Needs to behave himself.

King of Puppets down. One thing I've noticed is that boss weapons are the way to go in terms of making things easier on yourself. I have my rapier blade upgraded to +6 and decided to use my Trident of the Covennt +2 out of interest and got further into the fight than I could. Only took a few more tries to get it.

Unless you're an Advance build, then there's basically nothing in boss weapons (so far?)

Speaking of which, we may or may not have just killed the coolest boss in the game Laxasia the Complete Massive missed opportunity with the boss soul weapon not being the one the boss actually used though. As nice as the one you can get is, the boss' weapon is both (arguably) cooler and would neatly help the "no Advance boss weapons" problem...

Unless you're an Advance build, then there's basically nothing in boss weapons (so far?) Trident of the Covenant that Tuffty mentioned is really decent, and that's technique based.

I said Advance based though. Like the Salamander Dagger, Acidic Spear etc. Best you can do with the Trident is modify the handle and give it like a D in Advance, which... doesn't do much (and I can't even remember if you can modify scaling in boss weapons)

I didn't quote it because there weren't any posts in between, but I can see how it got confusing, my bad 😅

Well, that's one to look forward to :-D
Question: how many areas or hours are left after the swamp level? I'm at the swamp thing boss now.

FlexibleFeline There are 3 areas left after the swamp (technically two totally new areas, as you sort of revisit one of the earlier ones). As of hours left, I cannot tell, as that depends on how thorough you are exploring or how much grinding you do for items or level-ups.

Cheers.
I've just been wondering how I'm going to upgrade P-Organs further....just not getting enough quartz. I'm at phase 2, may sneak into phase 3 but I'm guessing phase 4 is for NG+? I've been quite careful to get quartz - doing the riddles, finding the trinity doors, buying the one you can from the supply box etc.

I remember reading that the most effective way to get deeper into the p-organ tree is to only upgrade two nodes fully in each one and that unlocks the next branch, I'm only at the opera house and already upgraded my first node in phase 3.

Ta, I've done the same, upgrading just two per phase - in fact, I respecced it at the tree because I'd made that very mistake initially in phase 1 and realised it was a waste. Sounds like I might have missed some quartz somewhere.

Er, I'm being an idiot, again. I double checked and I am in phase 3 already. I guess I'm wondering if I'll make it to phase 4, which with three areas left I hopefully will.

FlexibleFeline Are you filling up all 4 available slots before moving on to a new phase (even if you only need 2), because I'd assume you should be now at phase 4. Otherwise, you should look harder for quartzes, mostly by getting trinity keys/rooms and finishing quests. In comparison, I have just filled up one of the phase 5 slots and deliberately wasted two quartzes for a 3rd phase 2 slot, so I'm around 26 quartzes so far.
EDIT: just read your next posts... Here is my p-organ selections:

That's very similar to mine, except I didn't go for a third in phase 2 (the one on the right - is that the prone dodge move?). It's hard to imagine not selecting ones that benefit pulse cells :-)
I think I'm going to fuck it and check a quartz guide. I've opened three trinity rooms so far (up to the swamp...chapter 8?). Not all had quartz, though. I've done all mini-bosses, I think - except for the two Puppets of the Future in the swamp area; I'm intending to go back for them. Quests I'll need to check. I think I've done 3 or 4 side quests. Puppet baby, some wine, one, perhaps two others I cant't recall right now.

Cheers, I did get the bomber...last question: does this mean he doesn't respawn, or do you need to do him first each time?
