So it probably randomly came down to my squad preferences being different. I’d have to play it all again to see if the wording at that particular moment likely affected my choice.

Having played the Arrival mission last night, another thing ME - and especially this version - does really well is (mostly) seamlessly integrate the dlc and some of it chunky pieces of story content too.

Yeah, the kasumi DLC was incredible, with an awesome chase sequence.

I just did that this evening. It wasn’t quite as long or Hitman-y as I remember but still a really nice mission. There’s so much potential scope in this kind of game for doing more than just shooting waves of dudes, I hope whatever the new project they were teasing a year or two ago really branches out even further on character and world building. Having also, finally, visited the Citadel tonight my one slight regret at an in-game choice feels even more like the wrong decision. I should’ve given Udina not Anderson the Council seat. It felt like ME1 wanted to give it to Anderson but the state of things in ME2 is classic Udina, Anderson feels incredibly out of place and very much the wrong choice now. He even talks like a placeholder rather than the canonical pick of the game.

I think Shadow Broker was my favourite DLC by some stretch.

I think Shadow Broker was my favourite DLC by some stretch. Yeah I think I meant this one, felt like I really was chasing my foe through a sci fi city.

Still chugging along in ME2. I would say sci-fi tv could really learn a lot from these games but Picard and Discovery have both lifted elements directly from them and failed to stick the landing.

In ME3, is the Aria T'Loak DLC worth playing?

If it's the one I think it is, yeah. It features a pretty cool character as well (besides Aria)
I'd say do all the DLCs. One in particular should create some pretty fond memories

Leviathan is an ME3 dlc isn’t it?
That’s pretty essential

I've done all the DLCs except the one about which I asked, and I had every intention of doing that one as well; however, I stumbled headlong into the expansion AA mentioned, and I can't see myself doing much else thereafter (except for beating the game, of course!).
It just seems like the perfect note on which to end.

In ME2, take Legion with you on Tali's loyalty mission. This should be the law.

Did Jacob’s loyalty quest this evening. What a bleak situation that crew were in.
I don’t know about anyone else but across these two games so far I’ve tended to pick my companions according who makes most narrative sense. So for example Miranda and Jacob come on all my recruitment missions, Garrus features a lot whenever I’m likely to bump into someone from the first game or take on Blue Suns.
It does mean some character I like, Mordin, don’t spend much time in the field which is a shame. But then some of the other newbies just aren’t that interesting so only get their loyalty missions and a ticket to the Omega Relay.
Zaeed is my go-to generic muscle on the N7 missions but he’s very under-characterised so I don’t feel like he adds much to the proper quests.

Zaeed and Kasumi were post DLC characters I believe, hence why they don't feel like they have a lot going on. I personally had some favs I would usually keep on lock, Garrus, Mordin, Tali and then have a free slot. But never Jacob cause zzzzzzzzz

Spent most of the game with Garrus and Tali. Wish they'd have allowed 3 team mates so I could rotate the others

I quite like Jacob. Maybe I’ve watched too much Star Trek recently but I like having a core crew of professionals alongside the more traditionally unique RPG characters.
Even Kaidan made sense before he was bravely sacrificed and everything really kicked off.
One weakness Jacob does have though is that from the waist down he’s incredibly thin looking so his head a shoulders look disproportionately huge.

I've just tended to stick with the characters I like most:
ME1 - Liara and Wrex ME2 - Miranda and Garrus ME3 - Liara and Garrus

While we’re on preferences - playing on casual since I’m doing this as a story playthrough means I get to make almost entirely aesthetic choice when it comes to armour. ME isn’t the worst offender for it but there is still some ugly gear out there regardless of how beneficial the stats seem.

I went full-on Fashion Souls - the ugliest armour I could find, coloured pink, with green tints. Stats be damned!
While off-duty, my Shepard has been sporting a leather vest and wrist straps, that make him look as though he stumbled out of an S&M club at 4am.

Garrus goes wherever I go. Space bros 4 lyfe. This is the correct way. Garrus is always with me. I usually play Adept so Garrus actually works well with me. I'll then take someone like Wrex or Tali

My paragon Shepard wore his formal officer's uniform at all times on the ship. He was a good guy, but still the captain and the crew needed to remember that.
Very tempted to do a 'quick' playthrough as a renegade just to see the story from that perspective.

Leviathan is an ME3 dlc isn’t it? That’s pretty essential Yes. Yes it is. I didn't own that DLC with the original release so when I played it with the remaster I can't begin to express how pissed off I was. Literally the most crucial stuff to the story and hidden behind DLC

I can’t remember which because I don’t think I played the dlc for any of them but I’m sure the ‘real’ ending of one of the Dragon Age games was dlc too.
Leviathan is a bad one though, considering how important it is to the story.

Yeah it literally explains what the Reapers are just to be hidden from a lot of fans. I enjoyed it but man was I annoyed.
I also didn't quite realise what the Party on the Citadel was about and I had already done Mordin's mission so I was properly gutted when he was missing from the photo at the end.

I just did that part last night. So good.
For all my [Shepard's] innate dickishness, I've genuinely become attached to some of these characters
- the ones whose deaths I haven't (yet) caused, anyway! - and the group photo was actually kinda touching.

I think I actually got a bit emotional at the end of the trilogy when Sheppard and Anderson are sat together. That was my Paragon run. Now I need to do the customary fem-shep Renegade run... I also need to remember to kill Ashley this time. Somehow I always accidentally kill Kaiden.
Waiting to get a new gaming laptop and then I think i'll run through the games again. Still think ME2 is my favourite as when I first played it both Archangel and Legion surprised me. Archangel so much so that I shouted at the monitor the first time I played

I’ve never done a renegade playthrough. Maybe if I’m not all Mass Effected out at the end of Andromeda I might cone back around and do a ManShep dick run.

Picked this up on the free monthly PS and WOW, sucked me right in. Never played any, so started with 1 not expecting much but the story and characters are actually decent - getting soft sports for my team. Choosing who to save when planting the nuclear bomb - something in my eye... Little annoyed with myself that I went to final planet not realising I'm a bit stuffed for rest of side missions - Haven't fully completed yet (will tonight) but guessing as the Citadel has exploded it's locked in now to end?
