I thought Cuckoo was alright. Though, yeah, it might be one of those movies where they shouldn't have explained what was going on. That made it worse imo.

I thought Fall was great. Though probably a 7. The ending was a bit bland, but I thought the acting was fine. Wish I'd seen it on a big screen though.

Interstellar
I was prepared to give it a rare 10 for the first two hours, but the last forty minutes get overly sappy and trippy and nonsensical.
It's still a solid 9/10, mind you.

Where the hell did the father and step-mother go? Why did Herr Konig keep blowing his whistle and nothing happened, that is until the story decided it had progressed far enough that when he blew his whistle, NOW it was okay for a cuckoo to appear. Why was everyone absolutely incapable of aiming a gun, even at distances of less than 5 metres?!
It really irritated me by the end. I feel like it setup as quite an intense modern horror, when in reality it's quite a schlocky B-movie about aliens. Found it a muddle of ideas rather than an interesting blend.

Mannequin - obviously the content has dated but I was quite surprised by how just generally shit it is. It’s really poorly made, just kind of just hacked together and the acting is uniformly abysmal. It’s not aged well in terms of story but it also looks like crap, too.
It’s always kind of amazing when you think about how this kind of movie would barely scrape a Tubi release now.
3/10

It’s very entertaining, but not quite great as it’s a bit too silly. 7/10 Children of Men - not seen this since it came out. It’s outstanding and politically more important than it was then. 10/10 Axel F - it’s as good as Beverly Hills cop 2 and better than 3. A touch to much nostalgia, but great fun. 8/10

Gladiator
Watched with the wife and boy last night. First time I've seen it in, erm, around 20 years. At least. I know I saw it in the cinema and then watched it again when it came out on DVD. Don't think I've seen it since then.
Anyway, it's great. Crowe is perfectly cast as he glowers his way through it and Phoenix is superb as an absolute bastard. Rest of the cast are spot on as well. Connie Nielsen is just brilliant. It still looks immense and the soundtrack is one of the best ever, surely.
Some bits have aged a bit poorly (like the effects for Reed's final scenes, which I can't recall looking that ropey but probably did - nontheless it was a great patch job that seemed to work as an ending for his character even though it was far from the planned one).
I'm looking forward to the sequel even though it kind of just looks like a retread.

Oh man, I still have a massive soft spot for Mannequin even while I know that it's terrible. I think having a crush on Kim Cattrall at the time played a big part in that.

I've seen SATC 2 exactly once (in the theatre) and the line "Lawrence of my labia" lives rent free in my head far too much.

I think Gladiator was one of the few movies I ever watched twice at the cinema. (Not counting a few recent re-releases of 80s/90s movies)

I saw Attack of the Clones twice at the cinema :/
I not sure I can really think of any film I've seen at the cinema as an adult that I've felt compelled to go see again shortly after.

I saw Junior twice at the cinema.
First was a really awkward first date (age 12 - what was the fucking point?). Second was with my best friend. Didn’t mention I’d seen it before and if I could do it all again… I’d not see the film at all.

Scream 3 - 8/10
Not as good as the first two but still very good, with enough twists and turns to keep you hooked. It also foreshadows the metoo movement. 3 really ends it all so I can’t see how scream 4 can work, but will be interesting to watch.

I saw Blade Runner 2049 twice in IMAX. Absolutely incredible. Otherwise, don't think I've ever seen another film twice at cinema.

The only double cinema viewing I have ever done was for Pulp Fiction.
Once was with some folk from uni, then went again with my best mates.
It was still great on the second viewing. Just had to try not to give any spoilers!

I’ve seen The Phantom Menace five times at the cinema, that’s pretty standard I’d expect though on this forum

I’ve seen The Phantom Menace five times at the cinema, that’s pretty standard I’d expect though on this forum I might have seen it twice. And I’m far from sure about that. I was legitimately considering stockpiling merch at the time for when it became valuable… Glad I didn’t go down that route.

Alien Resurrection (disney+)
My first real disappointment of this run. I’ve always had a huge soft spot for it as it was the first Alien film I was old enough to get hyped for at release. Coming off watching the first three consecutively really highlights what a silly film it is in comparison to them. Gone is any pretence of grounding the universe in realism, now its essentially a comic book movie where half the cast have borderline mild superpowers. Its a Wheadon script too so there is a constant stream of banter undercutting any sense of tension.
It really feels more like a graphic novel what if spin-off and taken on those terms, with its set-pieces and proto-Firefly crew there is fun to be had. Its just wearing its age much heavier than the first three and has a very different tone.
Also, for whatever reason the Disney+ version looks like its in SD compared to how sharp the others have been so far.

Alien Romulus
Thoroughly enjoyed this and I’m glad I didn’t wait for streaming, as it looked and sounded absolutely superb in the cinema. I thought for the most part the actors did a decent job, and it was really well directed.
The story was interesting but as with a lot of movies like this, if you start to pick at it it does all fall apart somewhat. I’d also read in here that it was a bit too heavy handed with the callbacks but other than the glaring monstrosity later on (which I really, REALLY disliked), I didn’t think they were too badly done.
Looking forward to adding it to my collection when it’s released.

Watched LotR:TRotK 3 times in the cinema for obvious reasons. Revenge of the Sith twice for less obvious reasons.
Think that’s all I’ve seen multiple times.

I ended up seeing The Dark Knight Rises twice at the cinema. Didn't even like it, but my friends at the time were being flaky and not committing so just thought fuck it, I'll go by myself.
They then sort their shit out and organise a date and I got invited along, they were quite excited and I didn't have the heart to tell them I'd already seen it and it was a bit shit so went along again.
I just avoid that happening these days by not having friends.

Beast
Idris fights off a mental lion who is out seeking revenge for the killing of its pride. No tension/drama/anything of any merit coupled with the most annoying cinema kids in history. Would have been so much better if he'd just fed the kids to the lion and done a runner while it was busy.
Complete and utter crap, waste your 90 minutes elsewhere.
