I like Reynolds but agree that, in a comedy, he usually does some riff on what I guess we now call his Deadpool persona. I enjoyed The Adam Project recently, and he's good in dramatic roles once in a while.
I don't think there's really anything wrong with an actor doing their schtick, but obviously if you're not into it you're really not going to be into it.

Beverly Hills Cop 4:
This for two hours:
With a surprisingly good joke every 10-15 minutes. Came ten years too late, though, as you do just sit there wondering how old everyone is rather than just watching the movie.
6/10
Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare:
A really weird movie. A series of manly things happen for a few hours to people with no back story, motivation or character development other than being butch. It’s like a feature length trailer.
5/10

Deadpool and Wolverine
Rewatched the first two in preparation, still really enjoyed them especially the first. Didn’t really like this one though, no where near as funny, way too many long, stabby fight scenes that had me checking my watch and over stuffed with cameos, a couple of which were admittedly great but mostly pointless.

Meh, 10/10 for me. I thought it was way funnier than the last 2.

Nah it's probably a fair assessment. I had a lot of fun though for something that is fairly by the numbers 80s action. I went and re-watched the first film and that is still a stone cold classic.

I enjoyed it. 6/10 is fine its just, yeah, everyone is far too old and its far too insistent on hitting every 'Hans chance cubes' mark like Ghostbusters Afterlife. Im just a bit sick of 'REMEMBER THIS?!?!' content now.
And, yeah, I rewatched them all recently and I would go right out on a limb and say the first one is, basically, perfect. One thing that did surprise me was I never thought about how young Eddie Murphy was in it. Its just an absolutely amazing performance, no wonder Hollywood fell at his feet afterwards.

Everyone in 80s movies looks really young. It's weird...

Except those in their 40s, who looked like they were in their 70s.
Edit: See Lee Fierro, who played the mum of the Kinter boy in Jaws. She was 46 when the film was released! Looked a good 10 years older!

The biggest shocker for that is Roy Kinnear being a mere 37 years old in Willy Wonka. Smoking and lead paint were a hell of a combo.

Watched Deadpool and Wolverine today and it's about the safest possible bet going to see Reynolds as Deadpool. I've never really liked the MCU beyond a few films so I do enjoy the fact it takes little seriously and is constantly breaking fourth wall. It was exactly what I expected and I really enjoyed it. Adding Wolverine was a good move as it added something different and Hugh Jackman is great, Deadpool 3 without him would have been a bit tired.
Agree with whoever said earlier that you know Reynolds absolutely loves it and gives the character everything. Felt really genuine. Funny, good action, very silly. Exquisite soundtrack, too. Strong 8/10.

I too watched the first two in preparation Honestly, I was incredibly disappointed. Wasn’t very funny and the first hour was just the same joke rehashed a hundred times. I didn’t hear one person laugh in the whole cinema too, which was a reasonable indication of just how funny it was I feel let down, fuck you Ryan Reynolds, you’re no longer my favourite actor

I just got back from Deadpool too and the whole cinema laughed almost constantly...I dunno, Hungarians, with their love for paprika, fascists and mediocre jokes. Slightly embarrassingly I was the only one there who laughed out loud when Nova said she'd destroy our heroes and flick her bean while listening to an Enya box set. I enjoyed it for the most part, but for Hugh Jackman who as usual acted everyone off the screen. Too many dull repetitive fights. But that's my problem with most of these movies to be honest. My wife thought it was pretty shit, my younger boy loved it and my older felt pretty much the same way as me. 6.5/10

I've still not had a chance to go and probably won't go until next weekend. So I'll be an extra miserable git about it.
Watched Babylon last night and, oh boy, is that a mess of a film. Like a bizarre mix of The Great Gatsby, Wolf of Wall Street, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Artist (or Singing in the Rain, which it heavy-handedly decides to point at during the closing moments, in case you missed it). I don't think it is as good as any of those either, although I didn't find it quite as objectionable as Wolf.
There are some good individual moments (the opening revelry, Robbie trying to cope with work on a talkie*, most of the jazz player's story) and other points that are so ridiculous that you have to admire the audacity (the Toby Maguire section). Overall though, it didn't particularly work for me.
Chazelle is clearly a talented director and I love Whiplash, but I don't think he has managed to live up to the hype of his first feature.
*Except the random anti-Semitic outburst that was entirely unnecessary and served zero purpose.

The boy and his mate (14 and 15 respectively) just got turned away from Deadpool as they didn't have passports. I did warn them...he does look 15 but did suspect our local cinema would be quite strict!

The Big Lebowski
(Currently on Prime) A rewatch of this classic, which I’ve not seen in well over a decade. It remains absolutely brilliant, and a lot funnier than I remembered. I know I really liked it when it came out, but I don’t think I ever really, at 19/20, appreciated it for just how great it really is.
A terrific story, fantastic performances all round (not you, Flea) and it’s all so tight.
Of course this is just my opinion, man.
9/10

I could have watched what I wanted. I loved the film. Purile jokes are right up my street.

I guess it's because people are watching the Olympics that no one has watched both director cuts of the Rebel Moon films, I think if you started watching them now you'd probably have just have enough time to get it done just before the closing ceremony.

I have watched zero Olympics so managed to squeeze both director cuts in Review: You can't polish a turd. Much more coherent though still a cliche filled experience. A screenplay written by AI. 5/10 overall
