Fighting locusts in the server room.
Oh, there’s the shaving foam can that holds the stolen dinosaur embryos, I remember that.

At least it’s not Transformers, that would be sick.

Anyway yeah it’s done now. Wow. I don’t even know what I think. I felt nothing but mild bemusement and a kind of awe at how spectacularly they fucked it all up. The whole thing just smacks of desperation. Again the main feeling is how do they make it so boring? I don’t know which is worse Dominion or Fallen Kingdom. FK feels a bit more coherent. Dominion is just so fucking dumb and all over the place and so far removed from pretty much everything that made the first film great. It’s got more in common with The Bourne Identity than Jurassic Park. Sad.

Watched Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Maybe it was because my expectations had been set very low but I enjoyed it. For the most part.
It's a bit too long and drags a bit in the lulls between the set pieces, but the set pieces are competent and enjoyable enough.
Ultimately it's a bit average, and it doesn't add anything crucial to the Indiana Jones canon, but I didn't find myself annoyed like I did with Crystal Skull.

I remember feeling a little angry at how they’d managed to get the gang back together and then done… that with it. So disappointing.

My problem with this film, Dial of Destiny, is that it really felt like it didn't need to be made at all. Like you say it didn't add anything and as much as I dislike Crystal Skull it at least felt like a definitive end to the character it, just felt shit to put the character through the wringer like that and to team them up with a character written so unsympathetically it just boggled my mind.

Surge - 7.5/10
Ben Whishaw has enough and goes absolutely fucking mental. Taps into the fantasy that surely everyone has in their life where they think: fuck it, what's the worst that can happen if I give zero fucks about anything anymore.

Only an extra 20 minutes into Madame Web so far... but..
The Bad Guy's voice seems to be really badly overdubbed, and there was just a scene where he was talking but his lips weren't moving. It's like they've dubbed in a whole bunch of exposition lines for him. Not sure if it's the original actor doing the voiceover, but it sounds really fake even if it is. So weird.
It's a shame how badly done some of it is, because the basic idea of a time-loop superhero movie is interesting.

Hit man (Netflix)
I quite enjoyed this. Seeing as it seems to be based on a real person (without the murders), I think playing it a bit more straight was the right approach.

Stop Motion (Shudder, Amazon Prime)
Well, I was always going to struggle to be truly objective about this film as I fucking love stop motion, but I honestly think this was pretty bloody good.
Felt very Svankmajer with the character designs (intentionally I'm sure) and the stop motion sections themselves were extremely well done, but it also featured a stellar central performance from Aisling Franciosi who was compelling to watch. The story isn't the most original, but I think the finale brings the central themes to a close fairly well. Seems to be dividing opinions, always the sign a good horror film for me.
Certainly recommended to the other posters here who I know are into stop motion too, and I think horror aficionados will also find a lot to 'enjoy'. Certainly left a mark on me.

The Snowman (Az Prime) 2/10
Gave it an hour and abandoned . Great cast, but I don’t know what the hell was going on, skipped all over the place and lacked any sort of direction or flow or script or watchability. Dreadful and a waste of the cast, Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Kilmer, JK Simmons, Genevieve O’Reilly. Shame

The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey
Haven't watched this since being bitterly dissapointed at the cinema at it not being LOTR despite that never going to be the case.
Realising it was 12 actual years since it came out, I thought I'd give it another try.
Without the weight of expectation, I actually enjoyed it a whole lot more this time for what it was. Still has a huge amount of issues. The CGI is often dodgy and overused to a ridiculous degree including ridiculous set pieces and a generic "big bad". Martin Freeman too, I still file under Idris Elba, as someone who basically plays "Martin Freeman" in everything and just feels so wrong.
The music does a whole lot of heavy lifting too, but I think with a different Bilbo and CGI dialed back significantly, I think it's almost criminal how good this could have been.
7/10
Pleasantly suprised how much I enjoyed it, but from memory the other two movies were just plain bad.

Have you ever seen the fan cut where it’s boiled down into a single film that follows the book? It’s surprisingly good.

There are loads of different fan edits. M4, cardinal cut, Tolkien edition, Bilbo edition...
I've got choice paralysis whenever I go to watch one.

I watched them for the first time recently, after also seeing the Lord of the Rings trilogy for the first time for the 20th anniversary (I had seen Fellowship before, but found it really dull when I first saw it, so didn't bother with the rest. Liked it a lot more in the cinema and came away loving the trilogy.) Obviously not as good as the original trilogy, but I thought The Hobbit films were still enjoyable.
The third was probably the weakest, with it basically just being a battle sequence for over two hours, but I would say I liked the second film best. They clearly shouldn't have made it as a trilogy, but I could see it being condensed effectively into two very good films.

I hadn't heard of any of these, from memory I don't even think I made it past the second Hobbit movie, despite watching the LOTR trilogy countless times. I'll have a look, you can definitely see there's a good movie trying to get out, but I did ay least enjoy it this time round!

The Marvels
Hadn't seen this MCU entry before and actually really enjoyed it.
Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel is the heart of the film and is probably one of the most enjoyable and enthusiastic characters in the MCU.
But the film had an irreverent tone that made it stand out, even though the stakes were fairly big it didn't take itself very seriously, and I laughed out loud quite a few times.
Was watching it with my sister and dad who hadn't seen any MCU seasons and they both enjoyed it, which as far as I'm concerned also proves my hypothesis that it's not necessary to have full knowledge of everything that's gone before to enjoy an MCU film
8/10. Surprisingly enjoyable.

Have you ever seen the fan cut where it’s boiled down into a single film that follows the book? It’s surprisingly good. I watched one, I forget the name though. It was better than the individual films (not hard, as they are execrable) but still not great. There's only so much the fan edits can do when most of the material is that bad. ----- Madame Web (finally finished it edition) I feel like somewhere in here there was a decent movie trying to get out, but something went very wrong during production. I can't tell if that was due to later studio interference, or earlier flaws with the writing. I actually enjoyed a fair bit of it. But for every decent bit it has some really dumb decision, or really bad line (usually over-exposition) or the terrible bad-guy redubbing. Positives: - It's not like most other recent superhero movies, which was refreshing. It also wasn't at all what I was expecting from the trailer. The fact that the 3 spider-girls don't actually feature in the movie was unexpected, but I liked it - The bits with the main character and the 3 girls were good. I'd have liked more of that, even if it was a bit Netflix Teen Drama at times. - Her powers were more interesting than the usual cgi-fest battles. - The acting mostly got better once people were past the hammy exposition bits. Negatives: - The awful hammy unnatural exposition bits that every character seemed to have when they first appeared. I feel like these were studio interference in production, but it might have been in the writing from the beginning. - The bad guy was pretty rubbish. No real goal or personality, even without the bad redubbing. Boring visual design. Idea of a scary spiderman was interesting though. - The entire Amazon bit and all the mystical amazon tribes shit should have been cut. Plus the dumb bit where she heads off to another country for a week despite being wanted by police - All the clunky bits like where they show a bit beyonce poster, and then a bit later when they're walking through a forest it suddenly starts playing a totally out-of-place beyonce song for no reason! At least it's better than The Hobbit / Transformers / Jurassic World out of 10

Furiosa
Finally got a quiet day at work so snatched up my last chance to see this before it drops from cinemas.
Unfortunately my plan of bunking off work was only a moderate success. The after lunch lull combined with a warm cinema and baby fatigue meant that I nodded off and missed most of chapter 3. Obviously not a fault of the film. And the car park I used (by the effing cinema) had a max stay of 3 hours, and thanks to me grabbing lunch beforehand I ended up overstaying by 15 mins, so I’ve got an £80 fine winging its way to me.
Other than, really liked it. Deserves to win every award for sound design there is. Wasn’t as tight as Fury Road but I appreciated how it fleshed out the world of those three outposts.
8/10 on this watch, could be 9/10 if I can bloody stay awake.

It's a different film to Fury Road to be sure. I enjoyed how much more expansive it was, and honestly, the action exceeds it in my opinion.

Also saw Furiosa today. Didn't really think it lived up to the standard set by Fury Road, but still very enjoyable, far more so than most films of recent years.
Pleasantly surprised by the amount of leg room in the Cineworld we went to, felt much more comfortable than Vue or Odeon.

It speaks to my levels of tiredness that my seat wasn’t even that comfortable (Vue standard seating) and I still nodded off.

Bullet Train 6/10
I just didn’t like Brad Pitt being Brad Pitt and without trying to sound too book wankerish, everything they changed from the source made it worse. The Prince, now a girl for no reason but maybe call her the Princess instead? The twins, not looking similar but seemingly scared to go all in with that ‘joke’. Creating a different bad guy for unknown reasons. Removing most of the humour and replacing it with squeaky toys. Almost no Japanese people in it for no good reason.
Stupid and a bit annoying.

The Watchers
Story about some girl who gets lost in the woods and has to deal with weird creatures who want to watch humans. It starts almost horror, but eventually devolves into a sort of gothic fantasy. The story could even be somewhat interesting, but the plot beats are phoned in and unsatisfying. I'd also add, the acting isn't great and the script can be... cringeworthy at times.
It's never truly scary... only, I'm not quite sure if it's not trying to be in the first place (it's fantasy for the most part), or if it's trying but failing hard. I have a distinct feeling it's actually the latter.
5/10
