You could say that Fincher is the Casino of directors.

I do kind of get where Geefe is coming from. He’s not what you’d call prolific and he has some movies I really don’t care for (Benjamin Button and Mank) but he is one of the few directors whose name will get me to watch a movie regardless of its subject matter.

I mean he’s not prolific if you compare him with filmmakers close to the end of their career like Spielberg, but if you compare him with his contemporaries like Nolan, Villeneuve etc he’s doing pretty well and I’m sure most consider that group and a few others the current top tier in mainstream cinema much as Spielberg was back in the 80s/90s. Again nearly every director has a couple of stinkers from when they’ve tried a new direction. Spielberg certainly does.

It would be interesting to see him take on a franchise again, like Nolan and Villeneuve. Both Dune, and Batman have fairly passionate fanbases. For me I find Fincher hit and miss. I'd agree Zodiac is possibly his best film.. perhaps alongside Seven. But that's more me liking those types of films, than say watching The Social Network, which I enjoyed, but I don't really care about the source material.

Silent Night
I can't remember the last time I saw a silent movie, but the complete lack of any dialogue was rather refreshing. Father goes on a murder spree after his son his killed in a drive by shooting. He shouldn't have lasted more than about two minutes if his first fight the day before the rampage was anything to go by. It was amusing enough.
Insidious
Been meaning to watch this for years and as the latest one is now on Sky I thought I'd finally give it a go. What a load of old tosh. Not even remotely scary.

He’s one of a handful of directors that have such a distinctive style that I can tell it’s him from about 10 seconds of watching it.
I wonder what he’d do with a generic modern blockbuster but it’s also not something I really want from him.
Not top tier. I mean…

I just had an image of David Lynch staying up all night watching director tier list videos on YouTube, just to see where he comes in.

Blackberry - came for Dennis Reynolds at full throttle for an hour and a half (and that didn't disappoint) but enjoyed everything about it. Serious levels of arrogance if that's truly how it went down. 8/10 I worked with BB at Vodafone in 2007. I wanted them to add support for html email, as I was trying to launch them for the consumer market. They refused.

The little things 5/10 Not even Denzel could save this crime thriller.Did not go anywhere substantial enough for the ending to pay off.
A weird co-star performance from Rami Malek, or maybe he is always this wooden. In a shocker Jared Leto was actually decent as the suspect.

He does it quite well but I’m not sure how sustainable it is.

No, I know of it but never really used it or knew anyone with one. Always just assumed it was a flash in the pan that got overtaken by iphone. I didn't realise there were business fuck ups involved, just assumed they were late to the party.

They were only completely ubiquitous for anybody that emailed for work on the go.
I am still nostalgic for having a physical keyboard.

Blackberry Messenger had a key part in the organisation of the riots back in 2011.
Their business model failed to monetise that user cohort...

Plus Hilary Clinton’s refusal to use a phone without a physical keyboard was a factor in the email server scandal that helped Trump win the presidency. Cheers Blackberry.
