All this slander about British drama, I remember the true greats from the BBC, John Actor was excellent in Monkfish, Monkfish MD and All Monkfish Great and Small.

Think I’ve mentioned before about Cole Minor-Strike - my dream detective drama teaming playboy Michael Cole with loose cannon Benjamin Minor-Strike as they solve crimes in a 1970s Yorkshire mining community.

The first season wasn't bad but when they made the baddie from the first the main throughout the next season in stupid ways made me nope out. Just think up new characters.

Is the main character called Happy or Valley?

Sarah Lancashire is the best thing about Happy Valley and makes it very good TV. Without her, it would be average at best.

She was a treat in Julia as well.

She was a treat in Julia as well. They really took the lazy option with naming a character after the show there...

They could have done better. “Lancashire Hotpot” for instance.

The irony is I’m rewatching Band of Brothers at the moment and about half the actors are all Brits doing American accents.

Industry and This Is Going To Hurt were two of my favourite TV shows in the last couple of years. Time and Vigil were both decent in their first seasons.
Going through Slow Horses at the moment, bit of a dip in S2 where it seemed to lift half its plot from Skyfall. S3 seems to be better so far.

Rosemary and Thyme was the most contrived example that I can remember. Shakespeare and Hathaway wants a word.

I’m rewatching it too and the number of actors that have had really good careers is ridiculous, quite a lot are only there for a scene or two then gone again.

Killers of the Flower Moon.
9/10 — worth its length. Top tier in every department. Lily Gladstone, wow.

X was good. Think this is even better. Really nice mash-up of genres.

My wife works in British drama, she hates the fact I won’t watch any of it. Her latest show was ‘After the Flood’ and she was going on how great it was and the budget was huge. I watched the first episode and it had a a lot of police with northern accents, grey skies and a toy baby floating down an over flowing river, I noped out after that. Tell her she can fuck off cause I couldn't get to the shops the quick way.

I just want Tom Hardy to be Bane. All the time. I want him to be scanning Peperami’s on the self service counter at the Tesco Express with his mask on and muttering “This scanner has defeated me.” Have you watched the Harley Quinn tv show, because that will cater to all your 'Bane, but all the time' needs. Him and his fucking Pasta Maker!

Sisu (NowTV, I was in the bath)
Fucking loved this, simple vengeance story, brutal violence, lovely cinematography and it flew by (perfect film length for a soak in a hot bath) 😉

We watched after the flood, it was passable. It had Elnoria out of Dickensian in it.

Sounds like a good choice for a bath film too.

I’ve just remembered the ending which was stupid and designed to facilitate a second series.

For British drama, there really aren't many in recent times that spring to mind, but shifting to streaming means I am less likely to watch the standard BBC Sunday night fare.
I would say The Night Manager is up there with US output, and before that State of Play (but having just checked, that was 20 years ago!)

Still a crime that Channel 4 didn't give Utopia a final series.
Couldn't face the American remake as it wasn't anywhere near the harshness of the original.

Argylle Light hearted fun. 6.5/10 That's probably the most positive review I've seen of the film.
