I don't get ads watching youtube either, have a nifty app for that.
I guess that's a kind of piracy?
Fuck ads though.

Weirdly I've never actually looked into IPTV. Is it worth it? I did it for a while and it worked perfectly. But got so much content now just in UK and physical media I stopped using it.

Weirdly I've never actually looked into IPTV. Is it worth it? I got it mainly for the football as you get every game (even 3pm Saturday), but it also has all the latest tv shows and movie releases. Best £50 I’ve ever spent.

Yep every pl game and champions league etc., plus all other sports including pay per view events like the boxing. It also has all the live tv stuff including sky and it’s movie channels (for what they are worth), plus all the latest box set tv series and movie releases from Netflix, Amazon, Disney plus etc. Plus the latest cinema releases. We still pay for Netflix and Disney plus for the kids stuff, that makes me feel better about only paying £50 a year for all the other stuff 😊

Last Night in Soho rented from Apple
The first half makes a promise that the second one is nowhere near being able to keep. It’s the best promise I’ve possibly ever seen, however.
Towards the end, all I could see in the leading girl was Anna Faris in Scary Movie and that lessened the effect somewhat.
Still, what a disappointment, after 50 minutes I was convinced I’d be buying and rewatching every 20 minutes.
7/10

My travels through world cinema continue with a trip to India.
Jagame Thandhiram (Netflix)
A Tamil-Indian film about a gangster who travels to the UK.
I reckon you would call this a blockbuster. The first half is set up for a gang war whilst the second is a social message (which came out of nowhere) about refugees, racism and name drops the Tories, so someone somewhere is watching. As for the film itself, it's stylish as fuck and I can't fault the acting and energy from all involved but at 2 hours 30 that will put people off, though I can't say I didn't enjoy myself. It was also bit of a surprise to see James Cosmo star.
Thar (Netflix)
A police officer patrols the deserts between India and Pakistan.
This is described as a neo-western though I can't quite see it myself. The premise of someone patrolling the desert villages and outskirts is an interesting idea but I don't think it's used particularly well and lost to a revenge subplot anyway. There are a number of roads the film could have gone down (drugs, domestic violence crop up) but it's all a bit light on substance. It does nothing particularly bad but not one you'll remember either.

Probably a bad time to mention but both Jackass Forever and Last Night in Soho are coming to Sky Cinema.

No Escape (1994)
No knowledge of this going in. Set in 2022 and a pretty accurate depiction of current tribal rivalries. Think Mad Max without cars with a baddie that does a good "we couldn't afford Alan Rickman" turn. 7/10 ps. let me in on the IPTV scam you fuckers

I absolutely loved this for most of the runtime, but once the ghostly figures started popping up it became increasingly generic horror. Not that it went completely to shit, but compared to the promise, it was a disappointment.

The Northman 8/10
It’s borderline brilliant, just a touch overlong and it feels it

Also, Matt Smith is a bit rubbish isn't he?

I’m also of the opinion that Last Night in Soho is a 10/10 film for the first half and a 4/10 film for the second. And no way in God’s Green Earth should it have been given a 18 certificate.

Spirited Away 10/10 Much needed hug of a film, after what has been a traumatic day, such a glorious creation. I watched that for the first time recently. I was in a shitty mood and starting searching for "I Spit on your Grave" but as I was typing it out and got to "Spi", Spirited Away came up in the results so I watched that instead on the basis that the universe wanted to cheer me up

Considering I think the original film is complete shit I'm surprised how much I enjoyed the much delayed sequel. It's complete nonsense plot wise but it's entertaining.

I’m really looking forward to this. Watched the original this week in prep and, well, it’s pretty crap.
