Paddington In Peru 5/10
I can't really add anything that hasn't been mentioned on here already. Pleasant enough, but ultimately forgettable and a noticable step down from the first two.
One thing that irked me was that due to it being a busy screening, we had to sit on the far left of the front row. It wasn't a massive cinema so wasn't too bad but I was constantly aware of how the image was darker on the opposite side of the screen (and with a slightly different colour hue - a colder, bluer one). I don't know if this is something to do with digital projection or if it's always been an issue when viewed from wider angles but it is the first time I've noticed it.

Venom 3
It was fine, wasn't shit like madam web or morbius. At the start I had no idea about the character that was killed off in the last film. Trouble is with venom films its not memorable - you remember bits, but of lot of it is just noise and cgi venom monsters fighting. I hope they don't have juno temple as lady venom mk 2, first she was so bland and boring in the film, not sure if juno has had botox, it looked like she couldn't move her face much and mainly: Sony you need better writers and make it 18 rated venom film, I don't think this film earned the 15 rating. they added the word "mother fucker" which I guess ups to 15
it was entertaining but forgettable
3/5

Do they at least take a moment to marvel at the latest Sony tech?

All the Venom films are PG-13. That's why they all feature one F-bomb. The BBFC is a little bit stricter with violence and horror than the MPAA so they get 15 certificates over here, but feel pretty tame compared to other 15s.
This happens quite a lot: Suicide Squad, for instance (the original, not the James Gunn one, which was always meant to be an R). When I was a kid, I was distraught because Last Action Hero was given a 15, which meant I was too young to get in.

Was it Terminator 3 that was like a 12 or something after being PG-13 in the States?

Smile, a movie about an entity that makes people commit suicide is an advisory 16 in Europe that's not legally binding. I really do think the bbfc is a bit backwards at time.

Was it Terminator 3 that was like a 12 or something after being PG-13 in the States? I think so, because I think I took my brother, who was about 12 or so at the time. I tend to be pretty cool about the BBFC these days. When I was a teenager I'd get frothy about banned films and video nasties; but on balance I think they do a good job, much better than America, and they're a very open organisation. I recommend people seek out the email exchange between Edgar Wright and the BBFC regarding the use of the C-word in The World's End. It's both hilarious and also a really good example of how a classification organisation should work.

Conclave - 8/10
Nice little number, Fiennes perfect as the dean leading the election of a new pope. Flew along and didn't feel anywhere near it's 2hr runtime, and a clutch of memorable lines.

Gladiator 2 - 3/10
Terrible. It's actually made me slightly angry lol. Ranting to my friend on text about it.
Anyway, it was like watching an episode of EastEnders with swords. Terrible dialogue delivered by wooden actors about mysterious intergenerational family connections.
The plotholes were also infinite. It almost literally jumps the shark at one point. I could forgive that if it wasn't so fucking dull for most of the runtime.
Things I enjoyed: - the unhinged emperors - the opening Saving Private Ryan homage - a character becoming a pin cushion - actually good and nasty CGI monkeys - Derek Jacobi - Denzel's drunk mate
That's about it I think.
I'm very intrigued to watch the first one again now and see if it was a good film or my standards have changed from when I was 16...

I liked Jacobi vanishing for ages but them having someone that looked a bit like him but 20 years younger and a lot fatter in many of the senate scenes.
Not sure what plot holes there were.

I don't remember Jacobi even saying anything in Gladiator 2 tbh. He appearead in maybe 2 scenes, his last scene appearance was kinda hilarious in how unceremonious it was.

He had about 3 lines at one point in the film and managed to deliver them with some vague gravitas.

20 Days in Mariupol
I mean how can you even rate this. Horrendous. And we crossed the 1,000 day mark yesterday. The amount of bloodshed filmed in a pocket of one city in 20 days should be enough to stop humanity from ever repeating this. But we do it over and over again. Absolutely despairing. Every politician in the world should watch this and then think long and hard about their future self.
