Totally shit Cyborg trivia, but it was thrown together at short notice to try and recoup money already spent on costumes and sets for a cancelled Master of The Universe sequel.
Also loved it as a kid, still don't mind it to be honest. It's proper naff but nails that hopeless post apocalyptic atmosphere quite well even now.

One of my favourite openings is in 28 Weeks Later, which Boyle filmed. I honestly found 28 weeks later to be one of the most infuriating experiences that I've ever watched.

Never seen Cyborg but I do recall catching part of the sequel on telly and it was... gosh. Not good. Just read the wiki entry for Cyborg though and I feel it must be watched for the names of the characters alone.

On the subject of 28 Days Later, probably my worst cinema experience ever to be honest.
A group of five or so travellers came and sat down behind me and my friend just before the film started and proceeded to make an enemy out of just about every one of the 200 people in the cinema.
They were throwing stuff at people, shouting, sparking up in the cinema, basically just doing whatever the fuck they wanted with absolutely no interest in the film.
Things started getting heated when people began to threaten them. A particular highlight was a guy in a wheelchair threatening to "fucking kneecap" the ringleader.
Naturally they refused to leave, and sensing an impending bloodbath the staff roped in the services of the bouncing team from a neighbouring Jumpin' Jak's to eject them. They did not go quietly.
Absolute nightmare!

Absolute nightmare! Wow. I've had my annoying patrons experience, such as absolutely shitfaced older couple behind us in Justice League, some guys sparking up in Spider-Man 3 and the room stinking of weed and an older dad commentating 1/2 of Rise of the Planet of Apes until my mate snapped and told when he could expect his commentary on the dvd. But that's an experience I'd never imagine. I do wonder why people pay money, not cheap money to sit in a dark room, and just piss everyone off. There are so many other options for you.

Did not know that. I think it was probably the first of those kind of post-apocalyptic movies I'd seen, so stuff like the roaming random violent gangs and crucifixion made quite an impression on my young mind. Never seen Cyborg but I do recall catching part of the sequel on telly and it was... gosh. Not good. Just read the wiki entry for Cyborg though and I feel it must be watched for the names of the characters alone. I seem to remember the sequel feeling almost totally unrelated, and mainly being interesting for featuring a pre-plastic-surgery Angelina Jolie.

The start of 28 Weeks is certainly pretty good but the rest of the film is a bit all over the place, the new films are going to ignore it.

We once walked out of the cinema after walking right by the double doors to the screen room, where someone had actually done a shit. This was the Birmingham Odeon on New Street. You could smell it wafting into the screen.. just me and my mate close to vomiting. The manager was pretty nice about it, and gave us a full refund.

Banshees of Inisherin - Its such a good movie but, and this probably one for the woke thread, how is this actually thought of in Ireland? It occurred to me when I watched it again just now that they are very wacky paddys. 9/10 My wife is Irish and her and her family think it's great, and still see the people that live on the Aran Islands are actually like that. And tbf I've been to Inis Mor and it wasn't far off. Probably how we see people from Jersey.

One thing I quite liked about it was how the Irish civil war was just something happening elsewhere and they pretty much gave it no attention.

TBF it is one of the worst cinemas I've been to and due to its location attracts all the arseholes. It's why I've made a point to visit the cinemas more on the outskirts due to the fact most of the troublemakers generally don't want to walk the distance or pay too much to spoil your viewing.

That's true. I sometimes feel on the edge in the city centre.. like something is about to kick off. Then again I've been to Odeon Luxe where it's £20 a ticket.. and some fucker is chatting away at the back.

When I lived in Birmingham I saw people smoking crack while watching the matrix and a couple having it off during Jet Li's The One in that cinema.
I can't complain, I was high as a kite myself. I was so pissed I fell asleep during Die Another Day and my mates just left me. Was woken up by an usher when they were sweeping up. I suppose its what you get for having a cinema part way through a pub crawl route.

I had to go to Everyman near the Mailbox just to guarantee I wouldn't be pissed off by someone. Even when I went to the parents and baby showing with my mate and his one year old we actually had a better time.

Anthropoid 8/10 (Amazon Prime)
WW2 film telling the true story of an assassination attempt on a high ranking nazi in occupied Czechoslovakia. Great cast, Cillian Murphy, James Dorman do a good job. I didn’t know the story, it’s a hard watch in places but don’t want to spoil. Recommended
Army of One 1/10 Vacationing special forces lass and recuperating cop hubby wander into local crime stash. He’s shot, she goes Rambo. It’s absolutely fucking awful. Don’t bother.

Furiosa
Starting off with a disclaimer: the Mad Max series is my favourite film series, I love all of them (yes, even Thunderdome) and have watched them all more times than I can count, I am an unabashed fanboy in the same way that other people like, say, Star Wars or whatever. I think Fury Road in particular is one of the best action films ever made, and Road Warrior isn't far behind.
So, know that I am going to be predisposed to loving this, as I love almost all things that come from George Miller's crazy fever brain. This is not a neutral viewpoint.
I loved it. I loved the worldbuilding, loved Anya Taylor Joy, loved Tom Burke, loved Chris Hemsworth, loved that Chris Hemsworth got to keep his Australian accent, loved the action sequences, loved the return of the Bullet Farmer, People Eater and all the rest of the Fury Road crew, loved that there was a character named Piss Boy.
Loved it. Love love love loved it.
And let's just get this out of the way: it's not as good as Fury Road. But that's an impossibly high bar to follow up on, given that (as previously discussed) Fury Road is one of the best action films ever made. And to be fair, it's not *trying* to be Fury Road either. It's a different kind of movie, at once more personal and more epic. It slows down in ways that Fury Road never could.
Oh and did I mention that Chris Hemsworth is fucking great in it? He really, really is.
Anyway, I want more. I want George Miller to never retire and never die, I want more stories in this world from the bottomless well of insane creativity inside his brain. I want people to go see this in the cinema, so that cinemas survive and thrive and I can see more things like this.
10/10, just go watch it right now

Just watched Fury Road myself. Still excellent. I was surprised when I sat down to it that it was going to be 2 hours. It really doesn't feel it's length at all.
Not sure if I will get to Furioso this weekend, maybe on the bank holiday. Really looking forward to it.
