Tish (iplayer)
Excellent documentary about Tish Murtha a photographer from the poorest part of the west end of Newcastle who documented the people who lived there. Its made by her daughter and features what seems like as many relatives as are still alive. Its not a flashy presentation but its got a lot of heart. Part social history, part tragic personal story.

So very much worth a watch but it's in no way perfect. True of most Garland films. Except Dredd. Dredd is perfect. Dredd is on Film4 right now. Still perfect.

Those slo-mo gun fights are some of the best use of 3D I can remember seeing during that era. I like that they gave an in-universe justification for using it too.

Dredd is on Film4 right now. Still perfect. I've still got a 3D TV in the house and watching Dredd with my active glasses is about the only time I ever use it for 3D. I too have a 3D TV still in the house. However it’s become the bedroom set, and I have a feeling Mrs Shark has binned the 3D glasses, (not passive either, active). But I do at least have the PSVR to view 3D films on. Albeit in grain-o-vision. Can I just say despite the banding and ghosting issues and general gimmickry, I have no regrets over owning two separate 3D TVs over the course of the 2010s. 3D support for the 2012 Olympics was literally a once in a lifetime event. (prove me wrong, technology).

The only way I can do 3D nowadays is with the projector, but I don't have the glasses . I do have the dredd 3d Blu Ray (agreed it is awesome), so might need to get it set up! Such a shame that 4k Blu rays didn't include 3d specification as it would have meant improved resolution for 3d films.

Talk to me - 7/10
Solid enough Aussie horror, even if it's not particularly scary. It would've immediately been elevated to a 10/10 if they managed to fit a Terry Tibbs cameo in as one of the spirits.

The Last Jedi (rental) I think this is the first time I've re-watched it since the cinema, so I was worried how it'd hold up. But it's still great. The only bit I didn't really like in the cinema was the Canto Bight bit (space Monte-Carlo) and I actually found that fine this time around. Force Awakens was a lot weaker on re-watching, so we'd kind of drifted away from the Star Wars movies as the kids thought it was a bit boring. Rogue One rekindled their interest, though they weren't that hyped to go back to the Rey stories, but I think they enjoyed this one quite a bit. Even if it is a little long. Best thing about it is that it almost never goes where you think it's going to go. I just wish the next (last) one built on it, instead of throwing it all away. Maybe we'll leave that one for a while.
Best Empire movie since Empire / 10

Civil War - 7/10
Not as good as I had hoped but a decent thought provoking film . Agree with another post that some song choices are a little out of place but maybe that’s the point.
The scene with special needs Matt Damon adds a point and it’s a shame there’s not more scenes like it

Hadn't realised that Jesse Plemons wasn't even cast in the film but the original actor dropped out and he was available as he was on set because of his wife and she suggested him.
Guess being married to Kirsten Dunst gets you work, bloody nepotism!
No idea who was doing that role before but I can't imagine he'd have been as good.

Free Solo (BBC2)
As a documentary narrative its fairly conventionally put together but Alex Honnold, what he does and the climbing shots just make it next level. I’ve seen it a lot of time before but its entered that Robocop/Predator space where I never get bored of it or less impressed no matter how often I’ve watched it.

Wind River - 8/10
A nice slow burn (well, until it isn't...). Beautifully shot and gripping throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed it, but probably one for the list of films I won't ever watch again.

The Lizzie Maguire Movie (Disney+) - 2/5
I will never get tired of watching teen girl fantasy movies, even better if they're from the early 2000s. It's not weird. Aquamarine is the gold standard at the moment.
Bring it On (Amazon) - 2.5/5
Entertaining, but feels like it should have more of an edge. In it's defence it does address racial and sexual prejudice, but because it's from 2000 also manages to be racist and homophobic. Dunst is immaculate.
How to Have Sex (Mubi) - 3.5/5
Should be required viewing in schools. A group of teenage girls go on a party holiday to Crete to celebrate finishing their exams and to try and have sex. Brilliant performances, and the hedonistic hell-scape is brought to life in unflinching detail. It's funny, and you care deeply about the main character, but it's incredibly sad.

I realise that the above might seem like I enjoy perving on teenage girls. All I'm going to say is this is not the motivator for watching these films! My partner and I find watching these ridiculous teen films funny and it helps us unwind. Not sure if that is better or worse.
HTHS doesn't fit that criteria, we try and watch proper films sometimes too. Certainly not a film to watch if you want a relaxing time.

Wrath of Man
A decent Guy Ritchie/Statham crime caper of a movie. Not close to being up there with Snatch/Lock Stock, but entertaining anyway. A pretty good cast + Post Malone...
7.5/10
