Is this connected to the TT discussion In very much not the spirit of the thread, I asked my neighbours whether having dinner with me would be ok. It was an emphatic lol no get fucked. To clarify, I was asking about a family dinner In that case, I would argue that this ended very much to be the spirit of this thread, in a sense that either you or them probably wish to end a neighbour now

DannoCan you clarify what happened please, FG is confused. I asked them to dinner. They refused. Maybe they have confused the noise that my cycle trainer makes for something else. Or the clearout that meant I had to fill my wheelie bin in a single day gave them ideas.

Just straight up refused? Were you dressed as a Jehovah's Witness or something? Otherwise that's just psychotic.

To be fair to them Danno was wearing his skin suit when he asked them.
Because Danno eats people.

I cleared out a load of stuff and filled my wheelie bin an hour after the binmen came last week. That might have sent the wrong message.

Filled it with what? 'Cause unless there was a human hand poking out of the top, that doesn't seem like a good reason for saying "Aw, hell no!" when your neighbour extends a friendly dinner invitation.

I spent the previous evening sawing up a few things. And the evening before that on my bike trainer, which is quite loud.
All these posts will be filed as evidence in my defence.

How did they refuse? Was it the customary "that sounds nice, we'll sort it out another time", when you both know there's no intention to arrange, or was it a flat out refusal? Which is just rude.

You must be the cunt neighbour. I'd hoped that went without saying.

Probably just put out by the weird man asking them round for dinner. I wouldn't worry about it

Tbh I'd prefer a straight up no to how it usually goes.
"oh yeah that would be lovely"
"I should have a free evening in a few weeks time"
"oh right, yes, we did say we'd do something didn't we... I'm going on holiday in 2 months time so I should be free after that"
And then you see them scurrying from the house to the car as quick as possible from then on.

This was the first time he'd met them, never mind spoken to them.
Also, it probably didn't help that at the time of extending the invitation, he was wearing neon pink Crocs, a "Kiss the Chef" apron (with the words "You Cunts" haphazardly added in aged, yellowing Tipp-Ex), and a tattered gimp mask.
Still, points for effort.

Aw, shit - I've been rumbled!
While we're on the subject, where's my dinner invitation, hmm? Sure, you'll sneak over here in the small hours of the morning to dump your orifice-augmented mannequins in my bin 'cause yours is full, but having me 'round for beans on toast and some strawberry Angel Delight is too much hassle?

I'd rather poke mudecrabs up my bottom with a sharp stick than have dinner with perfectly lovely neighbours.
But if invited I'd go with the aforementioned avoidance/vague future date tactic.
A hard "No" is a strong response. Where you fully dressed when you issued the invite. With trousers?

I thought I was being nice. I've dog sat for them, called an ambulance when their 10 year old was having a massive asthma attack and I turn the music off by 10pm

Ehh despite rambling on about it, I'm not fussed. Saves me doing the dishes afterwards. As others have said, it was mainly a little odd not to get the non-committal style response.
And yes, I was dressed, just on the way in from work, so suited up and still had my professional voice in.
